British and federal government of Nigeria developed Lagos port. Yorubas migrated into Lagos like any other tribe in Nigeria. The British captured Lagos from Bini people and Sand filled most part of it and develop it. The indigenous people in Lagos are Aworis and Egun people and they are not yorubas.

Eastern coal contributed to development of ports in EAST only.

Delta oil did not develop Apapa port.

Prior to Apapa Lagos Wharf was already operational with ocean liners.

Nigerian Ports Authority is a partnership with foundation agreements in 1955 between Federal Government of Nigeria and Lagos.

Pearl Harbor was established on the Hawaiian island of Oahu in 1908, Liberty Statue was built 1875, can you kindly tell us, which complex was built during those days that's still standing in your dream port?

did Yoruba people force the British and other Nigerians to migrate to Lagos? We were doing just fine before the British came to "stop slave trade". The French also stole our other port and town in Ajase (port Novo, Benin republic). how come it is our lands they are stealing and making capitals? The first capital in the south was Calabar with an access to the ocean, but they moved it to Lagos, why? Ajase has also been the capital of Benin republic, why?

Obviously, oil contributed to the development of Lagos, but you people can never erase the earlier work of our fore-fathers, never! They started the work, the whites hijacked it, and Nigerians is enjoying it now! So you owe them some gratitude!

Abacha moved the capital to Abuja, so you guys should rejoice because we would (or should have or are) turn it to another Ibadan as you claimed. Mind you Oyo state's gdp is the 4th in the country and the the Ibadan you claim we underdeveloped contributes over 70% to the gdp of Oyo state.

and who owns the land the British and the French stole? what many of you don't know is that Before these people came to hijack our land we have been using the coastlines of Lagos and port Novo to trade with Europeans. am sorry if this doesn't make you happy.

No skin pain, the British came to conquer, colonise and screw with our way of life. I am addressing the OP's okpata yarn. He doesn't know the difference between natural harbour/waterside and the type of port that the British built.

You relied on the colonial regime to make this statement. Before there was colonial regime there was Oba of Lagos regime and under that sovereingty Lagos had ports.

British expanded on port facilities but Yoruba had operated ports and traded internationally ahead of the 1900 dates you are splashing.
I guess u mean a canoe port... smh. Lagos had a port yet, Oba Dosumu fell for ordinary Mirror. Them use mirror mumu am, to hand over Lagos to them. Lagos was taken without a gunshot or resistance.

And who are the true indigenes? The British? Oba Kosoko and Dosumu and others are what exactly? What is the demography of the total population in 1911 as stated in the picture?

The problem with many of you is that you don't understand the mind of the colonists

They are Awori people of Benin extraction.

Lagos colony(SW) was attached like a parasite to Southern Nigeria (SE and SS) in 1906 by Sir Egerton.

Same year, the capital of Southern Nigeria was moved from Calabar to Lagos. And same year z resources from SE and SS was used by British to dredge and expand Lagos port, as against Calabar port.

Lagos parasitism was instantaneous. It didn't waste time to start milking the entire Southern Nigeria.

Awori people are Yoruba people not bini aka edo (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awori_tribe). where do you get this falsehood you spread about? or do you sit somewhere and cook them up. Awori people might lay claim to it because Oyo empire disintegrated. Before the Awori, or Ojebu, or Egun or whatever sub Yoruba tribe started claiming the Lagos, it was the property of Oyo empire aka Yoruba people everyone traded on it. All Yoruba sub groups did everything together like intermarriage, so those you call "Awori" might just be mixed blood of Yoruba sub groups.

What is the demography of the total population in 1911 as stated in the picture? and Where did you snap that picture from?

I even thought you were smart. In trying to dismiss the effort of those developing Lagos, you also didn't or couldn't prove that yorubas developed Lagos.

Who were the ruling elites before independence at the federal level and in Lagos? The colonial masters. Hence they employed the manpower from all tribes to which igbos were heavily represented. Resources were contribute by all region to the federal purse, and of-course, Lagos was the capital of Nigeria and as a British colony, enjoyed unlimited developmental attention.

Even at that, In 1954, there was no lekki, there was no Gbagada, there was no Ajao estate, there was no Ajah, there was no Amuwo odofin, there was no Ago palace way, there was no gowon estate, there was no Buckner in Okota. There are so many places that were never in existence in 1913 but exist now. Was it the white man that developed it? The Lagos the white man left at independence is not the same as what it is today except you mean, Lagos hasn’t change since the Whitman left. The real developers of Lagos aside government projects, are the individual real estate developer, converting slums, farmland and settlements to prime real estate quaters, either for commercial or residential use. The industrialist, company Onwers, market man and women keeping the economy running and of course oil money from niger delta oiling there pocket of the government, which it uses to support for roads, water, electricity Development and other amenities.

Nigeria had her independence in 1960 and oil boom started in 1970. Cocoa money only developed Ibadan. Third mainland bridge was oil money, cocoa money started OAU in ibadan before moving to its permanent site in Ile ife with A single building serving as the vice chancellors building but now converted to faculty of agriculture. That was the only building constructed with cocoa money. The rest was oil money. 3rd mainland bridge is oil money.

The East was controlled by the Eastern tribes with Enugu as it’s capital, West by majorly the yorubas with Ibadan as it’s capital. The same way igbos migrated to Lagos is the same way majority yorubas migrated to Lagos.

If you want to talk of Yoruba development. Talk of Ibadan and stop trying to steal or downplay other people’s effort.

Ibadan is your shame, deal with it .

TRASH!!!!!!!

Colonial masters needed to ship coal to England, they developed the port because of that.

Don't know what you mean by full capacity....... Almost everything that has to do with oil exploration is done from the eastern ports.....Lagos handles mainly commodities .....but as usual EVERYTHING MUST BE IN THE EAST with you guys, what happens to comparative advantage,.......
