My Ordeal This Corona Period - Advice Needed by LieDetector(m): 4:25pm On May 18, 2020
So I have just finished from the University. I was a part time teacher so I combined teaching with studying and that was how I was able to scale through. Fast forward to early February. I resigned from my teaching job as I was optimistic I would be going for service in March and maybe kickstart things from there.

Then Corona happened. I've been indoors doing nothing hoping this whole pandemic ends so life would be normal again but it seems there isn't any end in sight anytime soon.

The NYSC DG officially announced that there won't be mobilization anytime soon. I can't apply for teaching jobs because of lockdown. I'm devastated with no one to talk to or seek help but I keep pushing.

Please if you were to be in my shoe, what kind of hustle would you engage in now? I've exhausted the little money I saved from teaching. All I have is a phone, little data and insha allah

You have just created an online pity party.

Many people experiencing similar circumstances will flood the thread very soon.

I don't know why you think it had to be so hard. You just have to deal with the situation as is and all you need is the right disposition to overcome and you will put this behind you very soon.

A few tips may be useful here.

Firstly, the Corona Virus pandemic is going to be in our midst for while together with its attendant drawbacks and by extension its negative impact on the global economy. The beautiful thing is that those who can shift their gaze and reposition themselves will sooner than later realize that this could be a springboard for changing their lives and making a lot of money.

Secondly, deal with the situation on the ground. There will be no NYSC for at least one year. C
Schools may not likely open till the fall and that means there will be no new openings for teachers.

You have to buckle up and look clearly around you. Opportunities abound. Most of them will not look attractive on first appearance but then who says that they cannot be helpful?

Do not look down on any available option at this time. Look for a way of making a daily income of 1000 providing a needed service or product in your locality/neighbourhood. Start with whatever may appear as lower hanging fruits now. Then work your way upwards.

The secret may yet lie in selling a fast moving consumer product of the food variant.

Wishing you the best of luck.

thank you very much for your input Sir. I wish to state that I didn't create this thread to attract pity. Unfortunate things happen which can possibly distort one's original plan. I'm just unfortunate to find myself in this kind of situation. People run out of ideas Sir. Venturing into any business that can solve people's pressing needs or rendering service involves money. I'd do any online job to raise money but with my phone and data the only resources I have, what can I do? I sincerely need ideas Sir

Thank you so much for this. Op you're not the only one passing through this as a matter of fact over 80% of fresh graduates across the federation are battling with this right now. But I'm highly optimistic that God will see us through

For now all I've been doing too is brainstorming on so many ideas, all in all it all boils down to money. But I want to just use this medium to rewrite my goals and aspirations and find workable solutions to them. I'm also into part-time printing so I've been putting up ads on my social media and hoping to get potential clients

Dear Liedetector, I am not seeking to draw us into an elaborate exchange that is founded on our individual perspectives of life. I do however wish to be of immense help to a much younger person drawing from my experience.

You are not unfortunate in any way. You happen to be so fortunate that you do not understand. You belong to a generation that has had the best access to opportunities which naturally makes more demands on you. We were not so lucky 20 years ago.

What you call unfortunate incidents mostly depends on how you look at it. Take for instance the current COVID 19 menace. It appears unfortunate but look at it critically, a few people have positioned themselves to benefit immensely from this supposed menace.

Others are just complaining seriously. As a matter of experience, when you are on the complaining side of the spectrum you cannot see inherent opportunities because a you seek are faults and more faults. The successful ones seek out opportunities and more opportunities.

For the avoidance of doubt, even in your immediate environment there are several opportunities for you to max out. The only snag is that you need to start small. And please you don't need money to start out in every business. Your abilities backed by a strong determination to conquer which is in turn laced by an infectious enthusiasm will see you through.

Several testimonies abound even here on Nairaland which you could draw from. Small everyday businesses and trades that you can adapt and modify to suit your immediate circumstances.

Whatever you do, please ensure that you give it your all even if it appears like it is not working. It is growing in leaps and bounds but may not be obvious to you at the moment.

Look for something and start out immediately. Forget if you are earning enough or not. Start out with 500.00 daily and grow it to 1k and then 2k and then eventually 5k.

Bros, even Aboki come to Lagos empty handed and without degrees or NYSC certs and within a few years the still make out a living and even bring down their families.

Gear Up Bro!

We live in exciting times. This is the best time to be alive in the evolution of the human race. Exploit this era as much as you can.

Good luck!

This is actually an excellent thread.

Let us use facts and figures to analyse the situation.
Which industries have suffered most and which industries have benefited most from this pandemic

The badly hit industries include Education, Transport and Hospitality.

The industry that has been hugely FAVOURED is clearly the TELECOM industry.

The reason is obvious - the pandemic has moved our life online and DATA is the single critical commodity of the online world.

I have an excellent telecom affiliate platform that just came up with an amazing compensation plan for anyone that would come on board.

Contact 08034708929 for full details.

Enjoy Your Lockdown!

Cheers !!!

Dear Liedetector,
Truth is, all hope isn't lost...
The COVID-19 pandemic affected the world over and has wreaked havoc on a lot of small businesses globally.

What do you see there?
It's possible you might say "I see more people losing their means of livelihood"
While that might be correct, I urge you not to look at it from that perspective.

What if, instead of looking at it as "more people losing their means of livelihood" you decide to step back and take a different approach: "seeing it as more problems that require solution"

There are thousands of problems currently in the country that you can provide solutions to. Pick just one, develop yourself, and present your solution. You'll see how you'll easily rise.

There are practically millions of people in Nigeria today seeking for a better life for opportunities same as you, but the problem is they have the "shiny object" mentality.

Don't be like them. Dream big, but be ready to start small. Pick one problem today and provide a solution and you'll become successful in no time!

Some of the problems you can solve:
1. A lot of people are looking for legit ways to start making money. Look for ways to develop yourself on how to make money. Once you become very good at it, you can teach others and trust me, they'll be willing to pay. Examples are : freelancing (perfect for those who don't have ANY money to startup a business), affiliate marketing, digital marketing, e-commerce business, book publishing, etc.

2. Sell food from home:
Presently, some businesses have advised their staff members to work from home. You can prepare some good meals and sell to people - guys especially. Guys don't really have the time to cook all the time, you know now. I don't even want to tell you how much I and my friend has spent ordering food this period.

3. Buy products and resell:
You can even make this work for you very well using social media if you're serious. You can buy lingeries, nightes, pyjamas, under wears (male and female), from suppliers (I only listed these one's coz they might not be too expensive for a start up), you can then scale and include nice tops, bags, beautiful shoes, etc when you've started making some money from it. I know a friend who's doing this and doing ok.

4. Run basic errands:
I used to visit my friend in his former area (can't disclose, but in Lagos). There's this guy people pay to help them fetch water. It seemed normal to me until the day I asked how much they pay him, and they said #50 per gallon. Most houses pay for 10 gallons that's #500, and for people that lived upstairs he'd charge an extra #200 to carry the gallons up. If he's able to fetch for 10 houses a day, he goes home with N5,000.
5000 x 7days = N35,000
5000 x 30days = N150,000.
What more can I say, he was doing well. Buy this would only work for you if you're not a shy person.

And there are many others. You just have to sit down and ask yourself "what do people really want this period," find out what it is, provide a solution, and the money comes knocking.

That would be all for now...
Good luck!

You're welcome. That's a really good skill that could help you start making some cool money - say 200k - 400k per month.

If you ever need a video course that teaches that, do not hesitate to ask and I'll be happy to help.

Not ragolis dear. They are well-packaged in neat and uniform bottles with labels. #9000 is for twelve(12) 270ml bottles, which will be retailed at #1000-1500(depending on the customer and your marketing expertise).

I'll mention your moniker when pictures of the product is ready. For now, you can send me a pm if you have any further enquiries.
