In case you do not know what Monkey Business is all about; Now read this:

A lot of monkeys lived near a village.

One day a merchant came to the village to buy the monkeys.

He announced that he would buy the monkeys for £100 each.

The villagers thought he was mad.

They thought how can somebody buy stray monkeys for £100 each?

Still, some people caught a few monkeys and gave them to the merchant and he gave them £100 for each monkey.

This news spread like wildfire and more people caught more monkeys to sell to the merchant.

After a few days, the merchant announced that he would buy monkeys for £200 each.

Even the lazy villagers now ran around to catch the remaining monkeys and sold them for £200 each.

Then the merchant announced that he will buy monkeys for £500 each.

The villagers started to lose sleep! They caught six or seven monkeys, which was all that was left, and got £500 for each one.

The villagers were waiting anxiously for the next announcement.

Then the merchant said he was going home for a week and when he returned he would buy monkeys for £1,000 each.

He asked his employee to take care of the monkeys he bought.

The merchant went home and the villagers were very sad as there were no more monkeys left for them to sell at £1,000 each.

Then the employee told them he will secretly sell them monkeys for £700 each.

This news spread like wildfire. Since the merchant will buy monkeys for £1,000 each, there is a £300 profit for each monkey.

The next day the villagers made a queue near the monkey cage.

The employee sold all the monkeys for £700 each. The rich bought monkeys in big lots. The poor borrowed money from money lenders and also bought monkeys.

The villagers took care of the monkeys and waited for the merchant to return.

But nobody came.
They ran to the employee, but he had already left too.

The villagers then realised that they had bought the valueless stray monkeys for £700 each and were unable to sell them.

Beware of Monkey Businesses

Half bread is better than none. They paid full salary to junior workers, that's commendable. At the end of this pandemic, if we don't learn any lesson as a nation, then its finished. I know that our leaders will forget all the challenges we faced during this period as soon as oil prices increases.
They failed to save for raining season,
They failed to build hospitals for us.
They fail to slash their own salary /allowance
They fail to pay hazard to front line workers

I believe things will change at the end of this pandemic bt there will be massive suffering and jobloss before any positive changes.

You are the unintelligent one.did you miss the part the stated that revenue from two airports is its major revenue used to service the other 20 airports and pay salaries or the part that only senior workers are affected?

12,000 workers in FAAN alone is too much. Aside Abuja, kano, PH and Abuja how many airports are working at 30 operational level. Most of this staff are just going to office and collecting salaries.

I've been wondering, what's the future of trained pilots in the current circumstances? Their job prospects look grim for the foreseeable future..and this is the case all over the world..Many would have to retrain and go into other professions..Perhaps, the only professions that would not be adversely affected by this COVID mess are the health professions. They're actually getting a boost..

The money they are collecting at the Toll gate can pay salary, Companies are still paying rents and airlines still pay for packing space this can be used to pay for salaries. The major revenue dey are losing are from passenger's.

(After agreeing reduction) Some staff of the airport said the management had no reason for the reduction, saying some flights were still in operation.

They also said since the outbreak, they had been working daily despite the minimal protection being given to workers against the virus.

“The reduction in salary is not fair to us as staff resume every day.

"Safety protocol put in place at the airport is not adequate as management doesn’t provide staff with face mask and hand sanitizers are not at all terminals and units.

“Cargo flight, chartered flight and evacuation flights are operating and they are still collecting fares at the toll gates,” a staff said in protest of the salary reduction.
