TCN and NIPP had always been led by Accountants for God knows why. The government were more interested in the money than the actual job which is power.

With an engineer heading TCN, we hope for a better TCN and power management.

In the same vein, DISCO's are headed by business managers instead of engineers. Districts are called Business districts, this emphasizes that the job the districts have is to generate revenue not distribution of electricity.

We need to change a lot before power delivery is stabilized in this country.

The Federal Government has on Tuesday, sacked the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Usman Gur Mohammed.

The sack was approved by the Minister of Power, Mohammed Sale, and Sule Abdulaziz was appointed in an acting capacity.
This was disclosed in a statement by spokesman of the minister, Aaron Artimas.

He said: “As part of continuing measures to reposition and improve the performance of the power Sector in the country, the Honorable Minister of Power Engr. Sale Mamman hereby announces major changes at the Transmission Company of Nigeria,”.

“Accordingly, the Managing Director of the TCN, Usman Gur Mohammed has been removed from office with immediate effect. He is being replaced with Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, as Managing Director, in acting capacity.

“The Honorable Minister has also confirmed the appointment of four directors who have been on acting position in the Company for some time.”

What has equity and fairness got to do with sacking an incompetence officer and replacing him with someone else, that happens to come from the North? We are talking about incompetence in a government position, since independence Nigeria has managed to build an electricity service that can manage to generate 13GW, transmit 7GW, and distribute less than 1GW as of last week.

The fact that governments under an OBJ, Yaradua, GEJ and now Buhari cannot figure out that the structure of the electricity service is the main reason for Nigeria electricity failure, should be the main cause of concern.

What stupid government will sanction electricity generation in Lagos and South-South to transmission to as far as Maiduguri. Nigeria electricity infrastructure should have been decoupled into regions, Generation, TCN and distribution should be regional design and then integrated into a national grid.
