From the email, they all had legitimate concern about Flynn who was a lobbyist for both Russian and Turkey. No one working as a foreign lobbyist should have access to highly classified information, especially just after it has been established of Russia's involvement in the 2016 elections.

Intel officials had transcripts of Flynn's conversations with the Russian Ambassador, because NSA routinely intercepts phone calls made Russian officials (Russians do the same on foreigners in their land). It was from the phone calls to Kilsyak phone that Flynn was heard discussing about sanctions.

I can bet that the dept of justice won't release the phone transcripts as it will reveal too much about Flynn. Finally, Obama warned Trump about hiring Flynn as NSA.

“The question I would ask is, what is everybody worried about?” Johnson said. “If there’s nothing there, we’ll find out there’s nothing there. But if there’s something there, the American people need to know that.”
