Reading this got me cracking on some parts (potato phone can't handle potato settings) and some I can truly relate.
The day I got my RN 7, I felt on top of the world. No more crashes when running simple tasks, everything was smooth and no issues whatsoever. No more mooning over YT videos whenever I watch reviews of these devices. Xiaomi introduced me to a new world, showed me how technology and software development(s) are supposed to be compared to Transsion that had me stuck in the stone age.
Would've stuck with xiaomi but I couldn't get the upgrade I needed with the budget I had and I wasn't a fan of the SD 7xx series but I'll be back. After all, one never really forgets his first true love.

Lmao, that part about not seeing your avatar, only clothesgrin. Going through your post, I could say the same thing about myself. I also used the 3310, used sagem, flip phones, I used the Nokia express music in secondary school. The years when having 10mb was like 10gb and one could go on wapdam, sefan and download Gameloft games and select screen sizes. 128 × 128, 128 × 160, 240 × 320 and so on.

The first android I used was Tecno p5, which gave up the ghost playing GTA San Andreas. I got myself another one, m6, and my game would crash after playing for some minutes. I went online and found out it was due to RAM. I bought another Tecno device with 1gb RAM and believed in happy ever after. Mc5 came out and my phone literally died and refused to turn on playing it. Gave it to an engineer and he told me the panel is fried, it was hard to believe. Then I switched to Infinix, hot 2 was my first infinix device. It also gave up the ghost playing a ppssp game, socom or something.

I shudder when I go through my posts here in the past, defending Infinix and blasting Tecno users not realizing we were birds of a feather. Anyway, PUBG was the Messiah that opened my eyes about the mediocrity of transsion phones. I decided enough was enough, I had to educate myself about these chipsets. You know when I buy phones before, I only look out for the number of cores and RAM size, like dual core, quad core or so, and processor speed. I was even the go to guy back then in my hostel, for recommending phones. I was recommending shiit, and I'd apologize to anyone I've told to buy infinix devices till today.

The last Infinix device I used was hot 6x, I was excited when I saw snapdragon. Sadly it was sporting snapdragon 425, I nearly had heart attack when I ran pugb on it and it was stuck at the lowest settings and even lagged on the lowest settings. I had that same experience of my screen still loading and hearing other players moving around already.

Now, I've also brought it upon myself to lead a personal campaign against transsion. For all the years I've suffered, had to restart my phone after every game play.

My first phone was Nokia 2700 classic, then I used express music, then I used c2,then I used Nokia x2,I also used the Tecno l8 my first mainstream Android device,it was actually the worst, I also used infinix hot 5,then I used homtom ht50, then I came to nairaland and asked for a phone to buy then tecno and infinix marketers fooled me to buy infinix note 5 stylus which was a decision I regretted,I also used the iPhone x for a period of three months, after this I bought redmi k20 pro from noobody, now am using a Samsung s9 and an iPhone 8plus and sometimes I use my girlfriends redmi note 7 and she uses my Samsung s9
After the lockdown I plan to buy the redmi note 9s and retire the Samsung to my mom..
The last thing I would do in the gadget world is to use infinix and tecno ever again... smiley

Same as you, I always considered myself a geek... I mean I could use t9 prediction to type a thousand characters in a minute , my first phone was an lg flip phone.. I would bar my parents phones and the phones automatically started working when they got new ones .. in my 100level, I wanted to buy a phone and wanted to shell out 70k for a two month old S3 .. I was still using my e95.. I loved everything about my friend's n3 .. I loved the fact that it could handle Pes 2011.. I was a fan of arguing with Samsung users.. I got the p3 , then p9 and then got the h6.. The p3 was a solid phone but had issues with battery and storage.. I was an advocate for the Tecno brand.. One day I was in school arguing with a Samsung user about how Tecno was value for money.. when we were done, someone called me and collected my number. I then became a Tecno campus ambassador.. 50k and 30percent discount for any new product. The FIFA 15 was out and my Tecno h6 couldn't handle it anymore. The Tecno h6 was my best Tecno phone.. I kept on changing ROMs .. That's when I started learning about focus in pictures and algorithms influenced image processing rather than the number of mega pixels.. I then went to buy the c8 at 30percent discount of course and it gave me headache.. Tecno insisted on the 1gb ram in all Their devices then .. They went on to release the marshmallow update which was worsened everything.. I had one more month on my contract and sold my c8 Una month and bought the then boom j8.. The initial hios was beautiful and they had started getting it right .. the speakers were beautiful!!! Then the camera started to depreciate.. I still took decent pictures because I had to learn lighting and angles.. It was stolen and I had to get the CX.. it was a whopping 75k .. mosjames, janetheze, mizmycolii were amongst the deceitful marketers then .. I didn't know about the marketing thing then .. I saw Xiaomi then.. it sounded so foreign and they kept on hitting on availability of parts .. I caved in and bought the CX which had so much issues from poor multitasking to a bad charging port!! My cousin's boyfriend got her the redmi note 4 and I bought this phone instead of the camon X and it still beats the camon 15 in everything and people still recommend it till tomorrow.. started from Android 8 and now we're on 10!!!! I've not changed my phone in 2 good years !!! Thanks to gptech, greenhulk and to the new set of people enlightening people.. Atheistandproud, ddjay, drjprince,, zehus, skywalker240 edopesin.. Please sorry for the typos

I can relate I do free advert for infinix till the extent that everyone in my house is using infinix brand from infinix zero,zero3, hot note 3,note 3,note 5
Infact I do advert till the extent that five people in my house bought note 3.i am still asking God for forgiveness for allowing a girl that trust my intuition on phone to buy S5 that phone is crap.
Today I am a proud owner of Redmi note 8,I must confess this is the best phone I ever used.
A girl in my church with all the light in her camon 12 front camera could not a matching picture with my Redmi phone at night despite the fact that my phone does not have flash light at the front and guess what I am doing the advert from Xaomi now my friend just got his own few weeks back even my pastor just love my phone he is planning to drop his infinix S3 for a Redmi phone

BBK Electronics is the parent company of OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and iQOO.

I have never used any of the other BBK devices, save for the OnePlus which is clearly now a market leader. I had a 1+5 (bought July 2017) before buying the 1+7Pro May 2019.

Before then I used a Sony Xperia Z2 (2015-2017) and before that a Tecno Phantom A+ (2013) and before this a Blackberry. I can keep going back, but it's no use.

I liked the Tecno back then because it was cheap and did the job. However, I hated it after buying the Sony Xperia Z2. I understand that price is sometimes an issue with smartphone buyers, but you get what you pay for, generally.

I have never liked Samsung, I hated the ugly TouchWiz and the hardware heating issues they had back then. The One UI is looking nicer and closer to stock, which is one of the reasons I remain a OnePlus user/fan.

It is not uncommon for companies to sell multiple product lines under their various brand names, often differentiating by price, quality, country, or targeted demographic, but Transsion did it for too long with Tecno, Infinix and Itel and they lost the plot along the line. I would say since 2015 when I vowed never to touch an MTK device, ever again.

This was my own Tecno experience
https://www.nairaland.com/4819245/worst-phone-u-ever-used/1#77728954
I can't copy and paste the story here to aviod spam bot, it is was not funny.

My first Android phone was Gionee which served me for almost 4years without issues before knowingly entering into trassion's trap.

seriously I can relate to this, person pikin don suffer o

I was also I strong advocate of tecno, not so much on infinix though, I would recommend and praise them, it was cheap and affordable

All I knew then was ram, internal storage, megapixels, batter capacity
then I made the biggest mistake of my life, I decided to try out an itel product, damn I regret having it till date, after like 5months,i couldn't use the camera again, takes like 4-5hours to charge always writing camera error ,stopped loading contacts(affected me on WhatsApp then, cos I wouldn't know who I'm chatting with and I would upload status, nobody would see it) , Also stopped receiving message, then the battery went Haywire(it would discharge from 100-50 to 20 then stay at 3% before during)

and that Itel product then was their best phone as at the time of purchasing

that was when I decided to move to nairaland to learn more, since then I've been educating people againSt transsion devices, but I suffer for itel and tecno hand o
