Most Nigerians replying to the above message have not stepped outside the country. You have to have lived outside the country for about 20years plus before really know what is going on in these foreign countries. Most Nigerians in abroad can't even afford to relocate if they want to. Most of them are stuck.

so it wil be economical then living in london if ur working place is in london
‘Economical’ is not really the word I’d use, you could still end up paying extortionate travel costs even if you live in London, depending on where you live. It may still be expensive, but still less than travelling from outside London. Are you planning to move to London?

my question is coming to Nigeria exactly to do what? start looking for a job where there is an army of unemployed citizens who can’t find jobs- you need to know someone who knows someone to get a job that you can barely survive on

And when you open a business nko, according to Fela - another wahala - no electricity to run it, no light , no ac, no fan , heat everywhere, generator buzzing left and right

and in case you are lucky to even succeed in running a business or getting a dream job, you are scared to live life like a normal human being - armed robbers everywhere, kidnappings, police and security agents harassment, poor healthcare facility, and a myriad of issues that are simple non existent where i live right now

America is not paradise but it is million miles ahead of Nigeria. the things even the dead poor people take for granted in the US are luxuries to the super rich and powerful in Nigeria.

life is not only about having chunks or bundles of currency tucked in a bank vault in your name. it is the quality of life and ease of living that matters

hell no, not relocating to Nigeria - visit Nigeria oh yess i will, stay there permanently he’ll to the NO!

A bottle if zobo to you for speaking my mind grin if I was a disporan anyway

YES OOO - one has to be very careful- in fact I printed this your response and kept it on file - who knows, if ever my mind starts playing pranks on me asking me to relocate - I will just read what you wrote and be cured immediately grin grin grin grin grin

Perfect grin

If you have good money, you can build your own infrastructure and maintain it. There are estates in Lagos with 24x7 power, thanks to generators and inverters.

Others have constant WiFi thrown in. I have stayed in some places in Naija, and I thought I was still abroad....

A lot of things are possible, here. Just have your money.....

if an individual must attain such financial status to enjoy all that, then something is seriously not right. that thing is what sane people are concerned about.

I'm not gonna lie...I miss Nigeria sometimes which makes me flirt with the idea of splitting my time there when my kids are older. I miss my family, my friends and the sense of community.

But then I remember lack of internet and electricity, horrific healthcare system, bad roads, bigotry, lack of value for human life, insecurity, police brutality, immense corruption, tribalism, crumbling or non-existent economy and a million other horrible things. This quickly resets my mind.

My solution which I'm currently working on is to bring my sisters and my best friend over to live in Sydney with me and make good living for themselves. Then I won't have any business with Nigeria anymore except to visit my parents every two years.

So to answer your question: no, nein, never!!!
I have international passport but no money to Japa out of Nigeria. I am ready to leave if you can help.

Nigeria share similarities with hellfire
Nigerians were not rated happiest people on earth for no reason. No other set of Humans can endure what we endure in that country without continuos uprising.
Personally, I didn't realize this until I left Naija.
However, I think that there is hope if we can eliminate ethnic and religious bigotry and chose the right people for the right jobs irrespective of where they come from.that will be a nice place to start.
According to Plato in his "Republic", leadership or governance of any society will remain ineffective until 'philosophers' are made kings or kings become 'philosophers'.

There are so many disgusting slaves in this thread.

Expatriates keep flooding Nigeria.

Returnees are seriously yearning to be back home.

Lebanese and Indians would do anything to be awarded Nigerian citizenship.

During general elections, we know those who stay glued to Channels TV like their lives depend on it.

Where I stay in Nigeria, there we could have light for days unending. Government water runs inside my house fairly regularly. There is no traffic. The roads are tarred. The streets are clean - swept everyday by dedicated sweepers. Food is cheap. Rent is fair. Education is cheap. Life is easy.

What more can I ask for

Stop judging Nigeria based on some cities.

Some places in Nigeria are far better than abroad...

ALL have second/triple citizenships. BTW, with their return, what is the benefit to the general populace? They returned yet could not build a functioning healthcare system and continue flying out even for cough. If not for global occurrence of corona, most will still be flying. When their mates in Malaysia and Singapore returned after sojourn in the west, there was a difference. Abba Kyari returned from Cambridge to Nigeria while Lee Kuan Yew did same to Singapore, at the end, who benefited from any returning? The problem with the vast majority of Nigerians as seen on this thread is the acclimatisation to suffering and smiling on one hand and putrid hypocrisy on the other.
You hit the nail right on the head. While Lee Kuan Yem returned to Singapore to make it the economic powerhouse it is today. Nigerian leaders like Tinubu,Fani Kayode, Dimeji Bankole that went to the best schools abroad- did the opposite. They made Nigeria the poverty and corruption capital of the world.

I do agree that there are opportunities but think about it, by mid-century, Nigeria would become more populated than the US and with a dysfunctional government, I can only imagine the chaos then. A large population is good (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Vietnam etc) but with a functional and responsive government. Regarding those folks and Lifebank or even WeCyclers, most have second/triple citizenships. So they have options and in this life, having options to do whatever one desires is important and beneficial. Even you, I can wager is an American citizen. So leaving is not bad as most of you returnees make it to look like provided it is legal. Besides, some of these tech folks are children of those fled in the '80s & '90s, so if anyone decides to do same now for his/her children to come benefit from the business opportunities in the future, fantastic! But saying people should not leave when you left is hypocritical.
I never discouraged people from leaving. If you have a well-planned out programme, why not? I went to school there and came back, the decision which nearly all my colleagues and friends frowned at but now, I pay their bills each time I visit. They can't even dare now, cos it's seeming too late for them. The truth is, we have a very bad govt...leadership is our main challenge. I've read some of the American historical books. They were once more corrupt than our govt are today but see them...they're a good example in terms of leadership now. You see, several Nigerian youths just want to leave because others say they are leaving. There are many who could have made it here but once they leave, the bearing is lost. I know of a guy who used to sell parts. He was doing well. Suddenly he said he was going to Europe. He ended up a factory worker over there and his business crumbled back home. He could have arranged a vacation for himself and returned to his business afterward.

I guess you misquoted my comments, because what you have just said has nothing to do with my comments. Well before I leave, did the white guy even try to bribe the traffic warden who apprehended him? if he did, did the traffic warden collect the bribe such that he had to not do the community service? I am waiting for your response please.
.
my story was just to let you know that, as foreigners misbehave here due to the inept government and system in place, even over there, there are bad people who also break rules ( they're even citizens). There are bad people everywhere, including in western countries. Nigerians or her population aren't the the problem( don't misquote me, you never said they are) . Our governments or leaders are the problems we face today.

Good evening sir, I have been observing your post since last year, you talk about giant strides and great stuff. How do someone make it in this Nigeria.

You are planning for your future but you forced to think of only today because the little or no results you are getting can't carry you that far.

To everyone out there 9ja no easy oh
Gd evening. What do you do at the moment and what are your plans for leaving? If you have a plan of traveling, it's not a bad idea at all, I even encourage but you need to have a clear-cut mission.

let's get this right ok.
moving back to Nigeria isn't a bad idea if you are made and can turn your home to Eldorado itself.
when I am not overseas, I miss the sunsets and nightlife the most.
you can't move back to Nigeria to come find jobs... no that is backwardness.
I don't blame many fellas tho, the white man's land is intoxicating.
but nevertheless one must 'visit' home at least because when you are abroad you miss home so so much.
for me I cannot stay in Nigeria permanently, not anymore.
I know friends who relocated to Nigeria and most stay in Abuja... and they never returned abroad.
if you planning full relocation, I think Abuja is your best bet.
Agree, but you have to be wealthy to live in Abuja.

They know their being abroad is the only thing they can use to boast because when it comes to money nwanne, men here go shut them up back to back.
Like when you speak to them they keep telling you abroad this, abroad that...here it's like this, its like that.
But talk of investments and you find out how empty they are money wise upon the noise.
Roaming broke lunatics.
Funny enough the well to do ones wanna relocate but they just can't cos of their jobs.

Baba don't mind them. Most of them can't even use more than a month at home in nigeria before alarm start blowing them.
