Don't know that's why iam asking. How about the suspensions and ball joint reliability of the two vehicles.

Not true. VW cars for example, old models of Jetta, Passat and Golf are better than new ones (maybe in durability, etc).

You're asking which car is better, between tow cars with 5year difference? The Xterra is a great car, and so is the pilot. New cars are always better, except you like classic cars. For modern-ish cars, newer is better than older, at least in this case, unless you prefer the older.
