What is flu?

Flu also referred to as Influenza is a deadly infections cause by virus, it affects nose, lungs and throat. Young children, adults, pregnant women, people with chronic disease or poor immune system are often infected.

Flu is a seasonal infection, In The United States of America, Flu season occurs within the fall and winter. Seasonal influenza is an acute and recurring respiratory illness known since times of yore, occurring especially, during winter months and having an elevated effect on public health worldwide.

The disease has high morbidity rates for people of all ages and particularly high mortality rates for youngsters, adults over 60 years old, patients with chronic illnesses and pregnant women. Prevention control strategies include vaccination using inactivated, subunit or genetically modified virus vaccines.   Influenza in humans is caused by two subtypes of influenza virus A and one among influenza virus B.

How is flu dangerous?

As a result of flu, people with poor immune system may develop complications (such as pneumonia) which may cause death. What's Pneumonia? Pneumonia is an infection that attack lung during which the airways become inflamed, and thus, the air sacs of the lungs become crammed with fluids.

How will you know if you've got infected (Symptoms)?

Runny Nose.
Chill.
Muscle aches.
Headaches
Cough
Fatigue Fever.
Emergency warning signs of flu.

Conduct a doctor if you're experiencing any of those warnings signs.

Bluish lips or face.

Worsening of chronic medical conditions.
Fever or cough that improves then worsen.
Treatments

As I've mentioned earlier, flu is an infection that may be cured within short period, so don't be too afraid if you've got infected. The symptoms may last for shorter period or less for folk who have had a flu shot ("Flu shot" is a vaccines developed to cure Flu) symptoms may last long for other people, they may even still feel fatigued when symptoms resolved.

Other Recommended Treatments Include;

Medications.
Palliative Care — one among the effective Ways to cure flu is, “Rest” so, rest often.

There are particulars folks that are at increased risk for complications from influenza. These folks include:

Pregnant women.
65 years or older.
The very young.
People with chronic illness (e.g. Asthma, heart disease).
People with a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher.

Above mentioned people may have weakened immune system and at risk for the complications of Pneumonia, which may be deadly.
