Two wrongs that I would like to correct from this article: 1. Abacha was never Buhari's boss, Buhari was head of state while Abacha was just a Brigadier, Buhari was senior to Abacha both in the military and in government. That seniority is for life, 2. The thief is not the one who took the prize meat from the larder, the real thief is the one who helps to receive the meat from the larder to spirit away. The Euro-Western/American nations are the real thieves and masters of grand larceny who have warehoused stolen money since 1998 and have refused to give us our money till date. 2 Likes |

Abacus never stole a dime. He only helped Nigeria save money in different countries. After all, we're still recovering these monies. |

I thought I was the only one that noticed. Abachas croonies and beneficiaries are trying to rewrite the narrative overnight. They are trying to paint Abacha as a hero, that saved up dollars for Nigeria's future. A man was stashing away a nations wealth in overseas private accounts and now he has turned hero. What makes me cringe even the more is that our looted wealth are now being referred to as "Abacha's assets". No wonder EU said that people are getting away with impunity in Nigeria. Look at Abachas wife sometime ago coming to boast about her family's looted wealth, the federal government is entering into shady "agreements" and deals with questionable individuals to recover stolen wealth that belongs to the country. Buhari is still desperately trying to pay $80million to his old friend, $80million looted funds. People committing impunity and getting away with it. Nigeria is one of the wonders of the world. 6 Likes |

Mtcheeew,Abacha that was used for money ritual before democracy ,so that he can keep vomiting money.... Simply ,because the democratically elected ones are too docile and lazy to make any investment that can yield money for the country. On a serious note, every former military head of states from 1965 to 1998 should return all the money they stole .We keep talking about only Abacha, even the military state governors should return the monies they stole. It was free for all looting in those era,for the boys with the guns. 3 Likes 1 Share |

GMB says he is innocent. “those who control the present can rewrite the past.” Loyalists and beneficiaries of Sani Abacha’s dictatorship control Nigeria’s present, and they are trying to exploit this privilege to rewrite the sordid past of their benefactor while the rest of the country is fixated on other issues. Muhammadu Buhari has always been invested in cleansing Abacha’s appallingly grubby reputation as a murderous larcener. During the 10th-year-rememberance anniversary of Abacha in Kano in June 2008, for instance, Muhammadu Buhari remarked that, contrary to settled narratives in the Nigerian public sphere, Abacha never stole from Nigeria. This 2008 Buhari declaration birthed a fringe, outlandish but nonetheless popular narrative in northern Nigeria that Abacha’s reputation as a ruthless crook who stole billions of Nigeria’s patrimony and salted it away in Euro-American financial institutions was the handiwork of Olusegun Obasanjo who was taking a posthumous pound of flesh from Abacha for imprisoning him. 1 Like |

Abacha was a known thief. You saved money for Nigeria in US banks to prevent the US from accessing them story story! Story. No wonder his wife said even if government recovery their loot they can never be as poor as Dangote. This history cannot be rewritten. 2 Likes |
