You are wrong in your reasons and as such you failed the test.

Go back and read the question well and provide the right reason for your answer.

Please I'd like to mention me with the right explanations, or text to me via WhatsApp (numbers on signature).

Thanks.

When you see that the probability is not in the picking the ball but the box you chose, that is when the answer will hit you.

By picking the gold ball, you eliminated the box containing 2 silver balls.

You are now left with two boxes.

You either drew from the first with two gold or the one with a silver and a gold ball.

Forget about the number of balls and think about the box.

Here lies the logic.

Forget about the box and think of the balls.
We are talking about balls here not box. grin

As others have noted, it's a deliberately confusing question. They label the boxes. What you need to do is label the balls.

There are 6 balls; Box 1 contains balls A and B, both gold. Box 2 contains C and D; C is gold, D is silver. Box 3 contains E and F, both silver.

You picked a ball. It's gold. It could be Ball A, B, or C. You don't know which.

If it's Ball A, the other ball in the box is gold.
If it's Ball B, the other ball in the box is gold.
If it's Ball C, the other ball in the box is silver.

2 out of 3 possibilities, the other ball is gold.

When in doubt, list out all the possible outcomes and count 'em up.

According to your pics, you marked only the second box.

Why ? grin

Why wasn't it picked in the 1st box.

Olodo.
See how I labelled it here with detailed explanations.

Ok sammy,

Your problem is you are counting balls when you are not to.

Instead of 1 + 2+ 3= 6

See it as oranges and apples or let's say A + B.

You really need to think outside the box - literally and not concentrate on what is in the box.

You have eliminated one of 3 boxes by drawing a gold ball.

You are now left with 2 boxes.

The chance that you drew from either the box with two gold balls or the one with a silver and a gold ball is what the next probability outcome is all about!

Jeez!

Sir, we're talking about probablity of picking gold ball.
You shouldn't label box instead you should label the balls.
Well have two gold balls in a box, while will you then label the box.

So, I still disagree that it's 1/2

Here is another way to view it.

It's not 1/2 because you are more likely to have picked the left box than the middle one in pjhase 1, given that you got a gold one to begin with. Had you picked the middle one in ph1, half of the time you wouldnt be able to proceed with the problem because you'd have grabbed a grey one.

There are 6 outcomes, all equally likely, in part 1 - you pick:
Left box, left ball
Left box, right ball
Middle box, left ball
Middle box, right ball
Right box, left ball
Right box, right ball

Since you know you achieved gold though, we know only 3 of those outcomes could actually have happened:
Left box, left ball
Left box, right ball
Middle box, left ball

If you picked either of the left box options, you will grab the other in the second phase, which is gold. If you picked the midde box in ph1, you will grab a grey ball in ph2 and fail. 2 of those 3 possibilities result in success - so the odds are 2/3

You need to think outside the box.

Forget counting the balls that are remaining.

The question that was posed to you was:

What is the probability of drawing a yellow ball from the same box?

You have eliminated the box containing the two silver balls.

You are left with box A and Box B

Either of these 2 boxes contains two yellow balls and the other a silver and yellow ball.

That means you drew your first yellow ball from either A or B.

The question you are two ask yourself is did you draw from A or B the first time.

Stop thinking linearly.

The only thing you are to consider is which of the boxes with at least one yellow ball did you first draw from.

The question is supposed to be from your second draw.

But the question says I can't see the box?

What's is the probability that I picked the Gold ball self, at first.
Re: If You Fail This Test, Then Stop Posting Here by APCLyingBastard: 10:56pm On May 23, 2020
Ok, Sammy07, lets try this angle.

The 66 % answer is based on you being able to change the box after the first pick.

The question posed originally states clearly: you take the next ball from the same box.

This would mean you basically have two sets of boxes instead of three, which would mean the probability is indeed 50 %. If you can switch boxes it's 66 % as you presented.

If this doesn't help then nothing will.

Did anybody ask you the probability of picking a gold ball first?

You see why I said comprehension and a narrowed thinking set was your problem.

The probability is 1

In normal circumstances, life provides a binary option of 1 or 0.

But there is no certainty for certain so that's the reason we invented probability.

Lol I know bro. Since u said 2/3 was wromg which is clearly what I lld have gone for I had to device another means. 2/3 would be the answer then, can't be 1/2
