Today, Redmi K30i was launched with SD765 for $266, Honor went official with Enjoy Z with Dimensity 800 for $238, and Vivo launched the G70s 5G with Exynos 880 for $280.

Thanks to Mediatek, the 5G premium on smartphones only lasted for 1 year and from all indications we may even get sub $200 smartphones by the end of H1, 2020.

So I got my phone bricked today while trying to flash a rom. Miui flash tool record an error, I disconnected the phone and immediately discovered that the computer could no longer recognize the phone when plugged in fastboot mode . As in fastboot became completely useless.

Phone kept rebooting to fastboot mode without being able to connect to pc.

Luckily for me, I already installed a custom recovery and it was working.

I quickly downloaded the latest rom of the phone and flashed through recovery, now fastboot is back up and everything is working.

If I hadn't installed the custom recovery, I'm not sure I would have been able to wake up that phone because all effort to recover would have had to pass through fastboot that was equally dead.

Who says unlocking bootloader and installing custom recovery (especially) isn't a life saver?

Custom recovery na real life saver

if your phone was completely bricked as you trying to picture, recovery partition will be wiped out and only way to revive it will be flashing using authorized mi account. What happened if I guess right was that your system partition was formatted hence y that custom recovery was still on the phone

Guys what could be the problem. Can't access my status bar/notification when I draw my finger from the top. Am very sure I didn't temper with any settings. And I noticed that the connection speed that use to be on the left is now on the right.

Phone is RN8

Modified: I just hard restarted the phone and it worked

Holding your power button for 15 seconds won't delete your files just to restart. I never said you should do a factory reset

Neat. If only we had 5G in Nigeria. Last I checked, LTE penetration was 32% and 3G, 78%. We are not ready for it yet. India should have fully available 5G by 2023, if Google's plans to have High speed internet in Nigeria and other African countries come to fruition, we may have New Radio around the same time as India.

Fingers crossed.

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by rationalhuman(m): 6:04pm On May 25, 2020
India dont have just because Indian government wants to milk 4G spectrum at its full limits, as it gets annual Licencing fee for 4G (other then one time Spectrum allotment fee). Airtel and Reliance Geo was requesting government to give them go ahaed for 5G in 2018 but no answer. I guess you will not see 5G in India (For whole country not just few mega cities) by 2025.

While here this is purely a technical reason. This continent is not fully ready for even 4G,

Baba nla life saver. That's the first thing I do on all my devices. Without an unlocked bootloader/custom recovery, I don't tinker with my phone. But once I unlock and get a recovery, there's that extra confidence I get
