Especially, establishments like Nnpc, CBN, Firs, CAC, etc, the salary gap with other parastatals and ministeries is wicked.
If not for the way corruption is enshrined in Nigeria, there would have been no need for the analysis you gave above. To clear the air, I don't work for NNPC, CBN or FIRS, but I'm just trying to be a bit honest here in other countries people who work in these types of parastatals don't and can never earn the same as people who work in other government agencies. The purpose for this is to attract the best brains and since they work in areas that has to deal with the revenue earnings of a Nation to prevent any form of inducements or corruption tendencies so that the funds generated by these people would not be touched because they are presumed to be comfortable. But what we have in Nigeria is a complete opposite of the reason for their monstrous pay. Just know that if this report is implemented and the salaries of these people reduce drastically. We are heading for a massive disaster. Brain drain and unbelievable levels of kleptomaniacs in government parastatals will be the order of the day.

A professor would work for years but an entry level CBN, NNPC staff would be making him/her feel like a fool cuz of more than measurable salary disparity.

Mere propaganda. Hot air. Without looking at the structure of Nigeria this cannot work. The lion will never vote for the liberty of the goat. Just restructure Nigeria along the lines of enterprise and watch how folks will leave voluntarily as government work becomes insecure and unattractive.

It is the structural changes in telecomunicaton technology that finally crushed NITEL and NIPOST, two monumental waste pipes. Whoever was working there has either upped his game to swim in the choppy waters of the private sector or has simply retired to his village.

Every sector has the potential for real and sweeping reforms to make them super efficient and value for taxpayer resources. It is only a matter of deep thlught and strong political will.

Recurrent expenditure is hugely consuming the budget. So, they need to cut down the cost of governance & manage scarce resources.
Cost of governance in nigeria is very cheap, that's not where our problem lies.

We have more than 100 different natural resources lying idle across the nation and we are only using 1, Crude oil.......That's the problem.

They should start by reducing the salaries of political office holders.
Reviewing salaries has always been something that should have been done. The disparity is too much when you compare those that work with NNPC, DPR, Nimasa, CBN with those that work in the core ministries and some agencies.

But the salary review should actually start with politicians. They take the chunk of the money and cause us problems. Unfortunately for us they are the ones to decide who gets to be reviewed and they sure won't start with themselves.

Don't deceive yourself, ask why this is coming at this period, it's simple, the economy is down, government income has drastically fallen, so they r taking this decision to prevent a total collapse of the system. Mark my word, this step will not favour anybody under government payroll because many will lose their jobs, ministries allocation will be reduced. Workers from agencies that pay well will be equated to those that earned lower salaries n many workers will be shunned the way out base on the allegation that they r ghost workers.

"Some are in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and take humongous pay that is 10 times of their classmates. Some are in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and some are in other parastatals in aviation and the differential is much compared to the person in the ministry.

Why would a bachelor degree holder in CBN be paid 10 times salary of another bachelor degree holder working in a ministry?
Re: FG To Review Salaries, Wages Of Ministries, Agencies And Parastatals - Ngige by micflo28(m): 7:04pm On May 25, 2020
How can someone with a BSc in NNPC be paid 300k while same BSc holder is paid 60k in ministry for the same grade level. Is one supplying a better weed than the other? grin

I like how you paid attention to the use of "review" just when change was promised, it wasn't known whether the change coming was going to be good or bad. I mean dx/dy could be +ve or -ve, innit?

They would gladly increase salaries because they know they are about to take it back through VAT increments, Electricity tariff Hikes and Taxes. They Must find a way to fund that Budget.

Brain drain how . You think the crop of public servants you’ll find in NNPc and DPR have what it takes to secure an interview in an IOC ? Those guys are only workin there due to the perks . Nigerian government spends a lot on recurrent expenditure and if things are not changed the country will remain underdeveloped with substandard infrastructure and no other means of new income.
