The Vice-Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Mr Ade Adeogun, has criticised troops who record their activities in the war against insurgents in the North-East and publish the videos on social media.

The lawmaker made the criticism while featuring on TVC News on Saturday, a clip of which our correspondent monitored on Tuesday.

He was asked questions about a video that went viral last week, in which some soldiers in the Operation Lafiya Dole in Yobe State, who were ambushed by terrorists, were seen cursing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai. Feedback through the videos from troops at the battlefront, Adeogun said, “When you are dealing with soldiers, first I think it is even indiscipline; it is unprofessional for soldiers to go to warfront with cameras because it is a huge distraction. I have been involved in security before and it is a no-no for someone carrying a weapon to carry a phone. What happens when the phone rings?

Adeogun also said the military had done more in the fight against insurgents in the last three months, than they have done in one year.

“If this issue of state of welfare and abandonment was happening about a year ago, then I would say there was probably a problem; but I am aware that the military has improved their capability over the past three months.”

He has a point

But

What of the videos that troops record when they defeat boko haram?

Both the military high command and soldiers on ground must play their part.

Give them enough weapons and improved welfare

Stop releasing people who killed them

Then implement this

If not, its just like beating a child and asking same child not to cry, its a taboo.

Just like sacrificial lamb, THEY expected the soldiers to be mute and move to the abattoir for slaughtering.

Fighting for Nigeria is like chasing the wind. Nigerian soldiers, make una dey use una head. These mofos no send una. Don't go and die for nothing.

They will do everything to make the status quo remain.

Those who benefits from the insecurity wouldn't want it end.

I sympathize with the gallant men who sacrifice daily to keep the terrorists at bay.

The day of reckoning for the saboteurs comes soon.

World War 2 and Vietnam War were FULLY documented on cameras..
Now U.S Soldiers have cameras on their helmet that records all activity the soldiers are facing.. so what kind of useless excuse is this?? Unless you don't want us to see the reality of the war that's when you ban cameras..

When you are WINING A WAR you document your progress on camera ( i.e Chad military)
But When you're LOSING A WAR you don't document your defeats in camera (i.e Nigerian Military)

Conclusion:
If we were winning the War they will Even call Clarence Peters To Shoot HD videos of Army destroying Boko as proof.
But Since We are Losing The War Against Boko Haram.. They don't want you to see how Boko Haram is defeating them

How about doing the right thing so they'll be no need for the soldiers to be aggrieved. If the soldiers are well trained, fully equipped, well remunerated, they won't come out to cry like they did
Year after year, we see billions budgeted for combating terrorism in the north east but these soldiers come out complaining that the terrorists with less training than them are outsmarting them and all you can say is take their phones away?

Damnnnnn niggarrr
Isoright
I support this move

They should stop them from using phones because taking videos and using social media to draw the media’s attention to their problems and cursing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai affects the morale, the confidence, the enthusiasm and discipline of other officers. It affects the espirit de corp of other officers,
It violates the "chain of command”

They should always follow the mechanism in place to register thier complaints and grievances
Soldiers should refrain from coming out on social media to complain about their grievances
They should use the suggestion -cum- grievances boxes

Who is Adeogun? What does he know about war? He only read about conflicts on newspaper but has never experienced it raw.
The use of camera is allowed in warfare for record purposes and to help in future strategies of troops deployment and tactics.
Journalists and cameramen move with military Department of Public relations for recording.
First WW, Operation desert storm and many conflicts including battle for arepo in Syria is on video.

cool

are they secondary school boys?

Truth is Nigerian Army dont have the real military grade comiunication satelite and radio towers in NorthEast and the Soldiers are doing Nigeria a huge favour comiunicating with their own personal phones

Incase of an ambush the only thing they rely on are their mobile phones to cal their base and base still use mobile phones to call for Airforce support.. even Nigerian Police Force that are within developed part of Nigeria they dont rely on their Walkey Talkey for effective comiunication anymore. they all use mobile phones

The Government being unreasonable again

These people have wives and children they need to contact.

The government wants to take everything away from these men and give them nothing in return.

Imagine having a beautiful woman like myself at home and not being able to contact her sad
