Why are you certain the push for secession. They'll lose seaport access and pay extra to export oil? There's very little advantage strategically for breaking up.

True, but when you compare what they'll gain financially versus the pittance they'll have to pay to export their oil, you'll see that they'll be able to afford a breakup.

This oil of a thing is just making some people just insane. For goodness sake what is keeping these our refineries from kicking off.

Cattle Ranching should be a big business in this country but these idiots keeps looking at this oil of a thing.
Covod-19 should teach a sane nation a lot of lesson on solely depending on just one thing.

Just hope me and those who really have good vision for Nigeria can see our vision coming through.

Build a better nation and eradicate Nepotism.

Imagine my lack of shock. They're committed to discovering a commercial oil well no matter the cost like Niger Republic. They just want to develop the region with more oil revenue and make it more energy independent i.m.o.

This is big talk from the guys who cant get their current refineries working. Any major refining will probably be done by private sector. Niger Republics oil pipeline has been on hold over this price drop.

kids it is all about government funds .

the continued exploration is making some people who already wealth super wealth !

Why can't FG look beyond natural resources

This is 21st century for goodness sake

There was a time we don't depend on crude oil, gold etc but Nigeria was better than what we have now

If we invest heavily on agriculture, we can become big exporter & generate more forex

FG should stop putting all egg in one basket

Oil is in abundance in the south yet they prefer to refine it abroad but now that they've found a microscopic volume of crude in the north, they are planing to build refineries around it to save cost. They surely know that this country will one day divide & i pray it happends fast.

They want to develop their region at all cost while other regions remain stagnant.

If we no get sense now, we no fit get sense again.

Where is the lie? I blame the foolish people representing us in this government. Na them and their families hand go first touch when the people starts a revolution. The North is lavishing the South’s resources and no single prominent person from the south seems to care as long as they give him/her a stipend from the national cake.

Interesting that would mean they would most likely export the crude out Akwa Ibom in the future. They would just need to build the deep first. There's been no updates about this discovery since last year so we'll wait see what happens.
Talking sense here. Your take flashed my memory back to a pipeline construction work a friend told me was ongoing in the east last year. He told me is a personal project inspired by Buhari. That the new pipeline is specially for transfering crude oil to the north. Got me wondering what happened to an effective NNPC pipeline already in use for same purpose that hasn't once been reported to have any fault.

The amount of crude oil stacked up north is an untold story soon to be told. Just then all the fools here who ought to fight for the people of South will realize their mistakes. Na common man like me wey nova see life na wan go fight Northerners die for matter wey elders nor even send.

I keep repeating it, the problem of the South is IBOs. Until the South is united, there is no restructuring. Under Obj, Obaseki as the MD of NNPC speaking on behalf of Oil majors and concerned NNPC technocrats suspended exploration in the North after decades of fruitless efforts with billions of dollars wasted.

With successful exploration by Chad at the Chad basin, Nigeria intensified efforts which consume money with little result. The first thing Yaradua did on coming to power was resumption of exploration in the North and establishment of University of Petroleum at Kaduna. The University sparked a lot of controversy, very hot controversy with Niger Delta people and South West Press insisted on PTI Effurun be converted to University of Petroleum. We won on the University issue.

There is no problem with exploration in the North, the problem is making laws that compel oil majors on JV partnership with NNPC to invest on it. In Lagos and Ghana, indigenous companies invested and put their investment at risk to carry out exploration. NDIMI, Danjuma and others from the North can privately explore for oil in the North and allow oil money from Niger Delta to be used for infrastructures.

To be sincere, something must be done about these northern cabal before things get out of hands. They always think upsidedown. The amount of money they have wasted on fruitless search for oil in that region is alarming. Something must be done cos 2023 is too long.

Oil search in the north is like bokoharam. It can never end, it is big business.

With billions of dollars already wasted in the North on oil exploration what stops
NDIMI, Danjuma and others from the North to privately explore for oil in the North and allow oil in the Niger Delta to rest. Alhaji Iyanda Folawiyo during the Military era privately went into oil exploration in Dahomey Basin offshore Lagos at the time Government spent billions prospecting for oil in the North. He died, the son continued. Till date, FG does not see Lagos, Ogun and Anambra to prospect for oil but only Hausa land using our scarce resources.

Im wondering how Nigeria would have been if oil was initially discovered in the North and the south was at the receiving end undecided

Or if southerners at the receiving end were the ones displaying extravagant lifestyles with proceeds of oil money from the North.

This Silva of a guy is another useful I'd!ot, a slave who is willing to do his master's bidding regardless of how stvpid it may be. His state Bayelsa has been producing hundreds of thousands of barrels of crude oil per day for about 60 years now, with billions of barrels of proven oil reserves to booth, yet federal government has never deemed it fit to build a refinary talk more of a petrochemical plant but here he is saying that the same FG has plans of building refinary and petrochemical plant in the North, for crude oil that is yet to be ascertained if it's commercially viable shocked shocked

Southern politicians are the most foolish and stvpid set of people I have ever seen.

The desperation of the north in seeking for oil in their region at a time when it does not make any sense at all, with billions of dollars of borrowed money, goes to show that they have seen the signs of the inevitable breakup of the country and are therefore desperately and savagely salvaging everything they can lay there hands on from the obviously sinking ship.

The unity in the South is in the hands of the IBOs. The IBOs need to forgive the yorubas about the Civil War. Emmanuel Udom of AkwaIbom and Ambode made effort in 2017, but the IBOs never supported it. Without unity, these slavery and underdevelopment cannot stop.
