Does Muhammadu Buhari, the self assumed Othman Danfodio of the 21st Century, Nigeria’s president cum Petroleum Minister, understand that crude oil price has plummeted and that crude oil proceeds are not all there is for a country to survive?

Wasting scarce resources in digging for crude oil is the least thing any reasonable government can go into now.

They should keep exploring oil in the north,so far they're not interested in exploring other mineral resources apart from oil

Good luck to them.

Lol.
Why will the Federal government spend billions of Naira in search of oil, when they suppose to use the money to revive our Refineries.

Or Ajaokuta steel

The thinking cap is that after creating a quasi new country to be governed with Islamic Sharia criminal justice system in the 12 northern Nigeria’s states, northerners now hasten to find crude oil in the north so that the country of Islamic Sharia criminal justice system shall become fully independent of the rest of Nigeria.

Fulani plans ahead owing to Fulani belonging to the old Songhai Empire knows for territorial expansion through conquest and diplomacy.

I pray they find oil.

Apart from the fact that they are wasting Nigeria's meagre resources, I am quite certain that if oil is found in the North, the North will push strongly for secession.

And that would be our prayers answered

Shut up, your prayers answered is for yorubas and Hausa Fulani to remain as one forever. grin

I see freedom coming! The moment Arewanistan discovers oil and starts "drinking" it, they will no longer want unity at all cost.
Hope it is not Benue?

The unity in the South is in the hands of the IBOs. The IBOs need to forgive the yorubas about the Civil War. Emmanuel Udom of AkwaIbom and Ambode made effort in 2017, but the IBOs never supported it. Without unity, these slavery and underdevelopment cannot stop.

Yes.Igbos should try to forgive and forget so that we can have a great country or even separate in peace. Only a united South which can only be facilitated by the Igbos, can achieve this.

I am quoting an Igbo great mind:

The North controls power not by virtue of superior intellect or ability, but by default as beneficiary of the gap existing between the Yoruba and the Igbo.

Thus, Yoruba and Igbo need this accommodation for their respective good, not as a favor to the other.

The day that accommodation is found, Nigeria's music will sound a different and more pleasant note.

Lol this oyel in the North is always a source of anguish for many
are you this daft to understand that investing in oil exploration now is a colossal waste? why not resuscitate the available refineries and then work on exploring other crude oil products like gases used in pharmaceutical companies, health and engineering fields which will bring a lot of money in the nearest future(at least 2yrs)

Ask yourself why the delay in oil exploration in Lake Chad

This is a political game... For now every region is just feasting on Niger Delta oil

Na when Nigeria break up, na there reality go hit everybody, the north is preparing for this break up! But everybody is blind to see that

To be sincere, something must be done about these northern cabal before things get out of hands. They always think upsidedown. The amount of money they have wasted on fruitless search for oil in that region is alarming. Something must be done cos 2023 is too long.

Shameless people. My uncle who worked as a drilling engineer said there are traces of some oil there and gas but not in commercial quantities like in Niger delta. But the northerners dont care and say they must keep searching

Your uncle was obviously telling you a big fat lie; because if you had properly read the article you would have come across where it mentioned over a BILLION barrels oil reserves found in the NE (and counting so far).

No need guessing how pained some of you are.

These guys are quietly taking deliberate steps towards putting sustainable structures in place as a shock absorber against the eventual unavoidable natural or man made restructuring of the country.

You will see that when they feel they are okay then they will announce their readiness for what the southerners have been clamouring for for decades. Restructuring , Secession or any other form of structure that is brought up.

For now they are strategically positioning and getting themselves ready for the inevitable eventualities.

One single person's alleged experience over probably one or two well heads (in relation to several others over the vast territories of exploration) against a collective report written and corroborated by a committee of several individuals - well done, good logic.

Can you imagine trying to explore oil in the North amid Covid-19 and economic downturn.

Looking for oil? Can they see the price of oil? Can they just look at all the politics around oil? Yet they want oil in the north, when they have endless arable land for farming and livestock?

I give up!
