A good alternative publishing platform to Amazon kindle direct publishing is Draft2Digital. It is quite reliable and distributes books to many digital publishing and sales companies including Amazon kindle direct publishing.

So, you can try it out too and see how it works out for you and your publishing endeavor.

If you are still procrastinating on launching your publishing adventure because you are not sure of being able to finish or write a full novel as your first book, then you can start out by writing and publishing short stories. After your have mastered the fundamentals of writing and publishing through these short stories, you can then start writing and publishing full novels.

People normally ask questions on keywords when publishing their books. To get your keywords right, you need to have an understanding of search engine optimization.

Secondly, you need to put yourself in the place of a potential buyer and imagine what appropriate keywords you will used in searching for the book if you were searching for it on the Internet.

There are plenty of tools (like PublisherRocket, KindleRanker, Soniatool, GoogleTrend etc) that offer to help you identify profitable keywords. But ironically the more time you invest using them, the more confusing and misleading they turn out to be. Howbeit there are basically Only two types of keyword research you ever need:

Supporting Keywords:
Let say you are a Dog breeder and you have finally finished writing the Dog training book you painstakingly penned down in the last 3 years and as you plan on publishing you desire keywords to help sell the book. What you need are synonym and acronym that buyers might use in searching instead of "Dog Training" . These include Pet school, Dog lesson.
For this type of keywords, you start with ideas in your head plus using a dictionary to check for synonym and acronym of the primay words- "Dog" and "Training", then finalize by testing them on the Amazon search bar.

Trending Keywords:
This is the honey pot which some refer to as Profitable keywords. The simplest way to deducing them but yet difficult to identify even when starring you in the face is to go on YouTube and search out the most viewed videos. Their titles are the keywords you desire to write on.

Trust this should be of help to you and many others. SHALOM

If you have been focusing your publishing endeavor only on Amazon KDP, it is high time you try out Draft2Digital too. Yes, I mean Draft2Digital!

Don't get me wrong! Amazon is great, it is the best and leader out there. But Draft2Digital is a bae too. Guest what? In whatever you do, multiple sources is always the best. So, strategize your writing and publishing such that you simultaneously publish your books through both platforms. For this to be possible, avoid the KDP's KU program!

What do you think was responsible for DRAFT2DIGITAL purging Nigerians from their publishing platform and refusing to pay them their already earned royalties?

You can use this message format to inform Amazon KDP to help link both eBook and paperback editions of your published books:

Hello, hope you are great? My books have been published for more than a week now, but the ebook and paperback editions have not been linked and I will appreciate if you help out with this. Below are the ASIN details for both editions of the book.
ebook ASIN is .... and Print ASIN is .....

Thanks!

Tgis is how KDP works:
You write the manuscript, edit it, format it, and design a professional Cover for it. You then create account with KDP and publish it. You are paid Royalties on each unit sales.
There are two types of royalties 35% and 70% of the list price.
As for receiving the payment, you use Payoneer.

When writing nonfiction books that you will publish through Amazon KDP, make sure you don't do mindless lifting of content from the Internet to avoid problems that can lead to termination of your publishing account.
