Though, coolant is nice but most Nigerians use water as a result of ignorance or cost. Water is quite cheaper than coolant and still serve basically same purpose

the guy drives a jalopy 2001 E class

at that age might as well pour palm wine into the coolant reservoir, original coolant may even cost more than the entire car plus fuel for 1 year

that same guy or one of his numerous alternate monikers was recommending 20w50 engine oil on another thread, so don't be surprised

But that isn't true. Coolant and water have different thermal characteristics. Distilled water is better than tap water, since it has no impurities, but coolant is still better.
