I have been in bond market since year 2000....no stories from FGN so far.

Bond investors are paid their coupons and capital repayment before paying FGN workers salaries

Some of my friends have FGN Bond 2049, 2050....and still waiting for FGN Bond 2090.

But if your not interested in FGN Bonds, your free to opt out.

Cheers! !
Dr Ukay is someone I know, his annual coupons is more than his annual salary courtesy of his bond investments in the last 20 years.

Wow!

Why would someone commit their money from 30 years?? Such confidence! What if Naija disintegrates tomorrow.

Well different strokes for different folks. I respect their decision

Some people are using it to create a steady Pension for themselves for the next 30 years even though they are still working and not retired

Nothing gives an employee a peace of mind like when you know you invest all your salaries, spend part of the returns from your Investments and your Investments give you more income than your salary

I just put a call to my Aboki, he said rate yesterday was 450 but they expect to get $ from CBN by next week or 2 weeks later so the rate will drop in few weeks to come, he advised anybody buying $ now should pause except if really necessary. Hope this thing goes down soon.

I used to think like this, but then I think the logic is this: if naija disintegrates, even your money in your normal savings account or dorm won't be safe either. So, why not invest it for the long term.

In the event of disintegration, only your raw dollars, real estate within your region may be safe.

Bosses, is my logic correct?

Bros, 2000? that is 20 years ago.

Some of us only knew the word "Bond" as the past tensed of Bind not in terms of money as at the year 2000.

I'd rather convert my idle cash to $ and earn 5% annually instead of doing bond of 10 years and getting 15% coupon annually!

Higher risk follow by higher returns. Every investor is adviced to stick to his/her risk tolerance level at any point in time to avoid the stories that touches the heart.

You can have as many CSCS accounts as possible, but it is advisable to have just one Clearing House Number

If you earn Naira and have dollar expenses eg school fees, rent etc, it is better to convert about 70% of your earnings to dollars and dollar denominated investments.

Whaoo, you are already thinking in that line. Any lawyer can help you, just that some of us like dealing with institutions
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by confluence: 1:51pm On May 28, 2020
I don’t trust Nigeria lawyers I have read somewhere when a lawyer collided with the person wife to eliminate the husband so that they have access to the mans business, but I think institution like the United capital will not involve in such mess

Independent worker, working for the relationship and not money.

Without dollar expenses like school fees e.t.c i will still convert my idle cash to $ and invest in $ denominated investments, Naira devaluation have really shown me shege, once there is a devaluation of naira most of your profit in naira denominated investments will go fiamm!

Ask Xiaoli.

FG has Sovereign Eurobonds, you will need minimum of $100,000 to $200,000 to buy them in the primary market, your best bet might be Eurobond funds

I think It depends on how much you want to invest? I currently have commercial paper with FBN quest, you can contact them to inquire the minimum amount they will accept as i don't know if this investment porfolio is available for small investors. You can also do sovereign eurobond. This is the message i received from FBN quest"Hello ..,There are 11 Sovereign Eurobond options with different maturities and yields. Yields may vary from as low 3.5% to possibly as high as 6.5% or even more depending on the Bond price and maturity" better you contact FBN quest but i'm sure they will have something for you.

Wow... And you are here thinking investment, lucky you to start early.

Make sure you marry someone with similar investment mentality and not those high maintenance slay queens otherwise you will find yourself liquidating all your investments one by one.

In short, before you marry, carry her come here for screening because I don't trust you, by the time they rub your head two times, you go release ATM password and account login details.
