Muslims have guidelines on all their worships, same way we are encouraged to fast additional six fastings is the same way we are asked to wake up to eat early morning, it is part of our worship. And it is not all about food, as we also do some prayers and nafilats

If guidelines for fasting is to wake up and eat early in the morning then, it shouldn't be called FASTING....

Unless there's another meaning to the word FASTING

every mode of worship is designed by God and should not be questioned by mere mortals.my personal experience has shown that it is easier to fast without waking up to eat. That time of morning is when u enjoy sleep most but in order to have more reward u are asked to wake up and pray then eat even if it is just a cup of water!

Thank God about your 'personal experiences'

As you can see yourself, not waking up to eat is what TRUE FASTING is and the experience cannot be over emphasize.

Anything outside that is NOT FASTING.....
Look for the meaning of the word FASTING, unless it means something else in Quran.

That's how we were instructed to fast, it's not about the food, it's about self discipline and abstaining from all sort of sin like lying, bad thoughts, sex, back biting e.t.c. What's the purpose of your fast when you're still criticizing other people's fast

and we are rewarded for eating in the morning and breaking in the evening..
Fasting the western world imprinted in your head is different from the one God instructed us to do, the western world don't do same religion as us, so their definition of fasting is going to be different from ours

Don't misquote me on personal experience na,and again u can't define fasting for us as Islam has different meaning for fasting and I have told u my personal experience and some of my friends and family, in fact some of us fast every Mondays and Thursdays without waking up to eat and no difference. If with all I have said u still maintain the same ground, then I will stop replying u.everyone will account for his or her deeds on the day of judgement. bye

Why do you people always poke-nose and assume authority over what is beyond your understanding and comprehension. Not waking up is what true fasting is... How unreasonable can some people be if their knowledge of fasting is limited to abstaining from food and not waking up to eat.

If I want to reason like you, I will insist staying away from food for for a stretch of one day or more is self-imposed starvation and not fasting.

Exactly, our God is not wicked cause how do you expect people to fast without eating Sahoor

just imagine eating from Iftaar to Iftaar, that's not fasting it's self-imposed starvation cause no one asked them to do that

Sir, we should stop replying the off point of a thing. Read more on fasting in Islam, you would definitely come across what the offpoint is disturbing his brains of unnecessarily. Fasting in Islam began without taking Sahoor!!!

From your line 3 downward you're twisting everything I said.
First I never said not eating its define as fasting.
Fasting is depriving yourself fleshy thing and longing for more spiritual things.
And the number one essential thing to your flesh is FOOD.

So fasting is to deny yourself the above mention and after that you can still go back to them right?

The West brought religion to you, The Arab brought religion to you... Don't tell me your method of religion is different from them.

And you came here boldly parading as someone who knows the meaning of fasting and who is vested with the authority to determine what is true fasting and what is not.

depriving yourself FLESHY THINGS (lol) and longing for spiritual things.. you can drink now, drink water drink coke and bear, you can have sex with your partner while still fasting. Fleshy things. Engaging in hypocrisy, chochocho, just as you are doing now, is not fleshy. You can fast and still involve in all those things. after all, they are not fleshy.

See, you don't have any standing describing what fasting is. Stick to whatever injections your religious book stipulates on fasting and grant others the freedom to do same. Islam is not Christianity and Christianity isn't Islam. So why would you expect Muslims to fast in accordance with your religious rules and stipulation or personal perceptions.

No, you shouldn't understand it like that, what is expected of us as Muslims is a piece or pieces of evidence with regard of celebrating the two Eids. For example, in Eidul Adha, killing at least a ram is ordered and mandated for every Muslim that is capable of doing so. Did you see such an injunction in Eidul Fitri? The answer is capital NO, you can kill ram or any other halal animals during this period. Another example is making of takbeer, you are expected to start saying it on the day of Eidul Fitri and it ends exactly after solatul Isha of that very day, as for Eid-Adha, it is meant to be making for three consecutive days. No evidence could be provided to support Eidul Fitri to be celebrated for three days, if you continue with the celebration, you have done so as part of the season of the festival and not to understand it as days of the feast. You can ask reliable scholars for more and further explanations. He alone knows best!!!

Dude I don't expect you to fast as the Buddhist or the Hindist...

What I'm saying is you guys should stop misusing the word FASTING, cause its meaning is totally different from your application.

Perhaps you should use the original Arabic word for it...

Maybe your scholars misinterpreted the word in English

You fasted on 1st Shawwal on the day of Eid? Is that allowed?

It is Sunnah to eat on eid day especially eating before the eid prayer... That is why you don't need to rush... Give yourself 2-3 days rest and the. Continue...

Masha Allah, i'm on the 5th today and pray to Allah to reward us all with infinite mercies. Ameen.
Abdulmalik052:
Salam alaykum warahmatullah

This year's Ramadhan ended last week Saturday, which basically means that the month of Sha'waal commenced on Sunday. The prophet (SAW) recommended fasting an additional voluntary six days in Sha'waal as its reward is equivalent to that of fasting for a whole year.
Alhamdulilah, I started mine on Monday and by sunset today In Sha Allah, it'll make five days of fasting. I have no intention of breaking any day(s) in between the six days.

Have you started yours or do you have the intention to observe it?
Are you observing it consecutively or breaking in between?

May Allah forgive us of our sins and guide us aright.

Jum'ah Mubarak to all Muslims and happy Friday to everyone.

If no difference then why eat in the first place?
If you're here to learn,.. THERE'S ALLAH'S BLESSINGS IN EATING SAHUR(MIDNIGHT FOOD) Even if it's water.
Meanwhile, do not compare our fast to yours, Some of you fast from 12am to 12pm, some till 2pm, some till 6pm, some till 8pm, 10 and 12. You decide your own time of fasting yourself while we are guided by rules. some even go into white fast(where they'll be eating food that doesn't contain oil, pepper and so on). Despite this, ONLY few Christian fast during their fasting
