No, some people are not biased. People didn't attack her basically for her review, they did when she called him a fraudster without evidence. Infact some people tried to reason with her to get a solution to her issue but she only ended up sounding like she was only out to bring the man down because of the miscommunication between them. You can give a review and advice people not to patronise because of your bad experience, not that he cheated you or didn't deliver what you asked for, that's okay. But labelling him a fraudster without proof went too far. That's what people attacked. Those that insulted her were just being unreasonable.

I'm telling you.

It's only in Africa that you get to label someone blatantly a 'fraud' over a reputation that has been built through hardwork and toiling. See the way the jesterfly did his thang. Cool headed, calm and you know he isn't out against the business man's reputation.

In a sane country, refusing the refund after making such claims as madam has done would effectively land you in court for defamation of character, in which case, the audio 100k will be the least of her worries.

But again, we are in Nigeria were anything goes, hence why the business man is still being professional in his approach and choice of replies.

Finally, i think this issue has been over flogged. It's nothing more than a bad review and its chain reactions that has been blown out of proportion by folks...

If you understand all that has happened with madam, you will know that some kazeems will not make heaven sha

Oga Ford edge is very cheap compared to other jeep of same year except Mazda and co...

Will you compare Ford edge 2008 price with Toyota Rav4, Lexus of even 2006 or 2007?

Check and balance bro,
most American cars are not that market in Nigeria...

Sorry to burst your bubble. Ford Edge cost more than Toyota Rav4. Google is your friend.

I agree that Nigerians don't patronise American cars compare to the Japanese (Toyota ,Honda & Lexus)

With that list AMD the would have tried to track where it happened. Whether in Canada or Nigeria. People shouldn't just throw blanket accusations.

Madam thank your stars, yours was battery and a recommended mechanic that didn't do what he was paid for, probably he dropped off the work for his boys who did a shaddy job on your car.
Some of us here had it bad, but decided to keep our cool-the guy code thing.
I paid for my Pontiac may/June last year, the car arrived August, it came clean both interior and exterior, admired by everyone who saw her on the road, but na only me wey wear the shoe know where e dey pinch me.
Amdman claimed the car has no rust, in his own words "no rust at all", needs only a kick starter to start, no other issues. Omo, the issues wey that car get ehn, even devil go run leave am,had leaks from the moon roof, na so water go full inside the passenger & driver side whenever it rains or I wash it.
I bought and took a kick starter (9k from ladipo auto market) with me to the port, got a mechanic there to fix it for 4k, alas the car didn't start after fixing it,obviously the kick starter wasn't the issue, had to tow it with 25k to my house cos allowing it to sleep in the port would incur more cost on me. I later got some auto electricians to make it start for 40k.
That was the first phase of trying to bring the car to life, the next phase was fixing the rust underneath the vehicle, I've never seen so much rust on a car in my entire life. Fixed that too to an extend, before the car could stand to an appreciable standard for me.
Every other month from August, I spend nothing less than 50k fixing one issue or the other on the car, the car was a nightmare to me. At a point I even changed top Gasket, cos it got burnt.
I got tired of the car and sold it off at a give away price, when I called Amdman and told him I've sold my Pontiac, his first response was to laugh. I asked him to get me another (knowing fully well what I want & how to go about it this time around), he showed me 2 pix, but ignored me when I told him I want total inspection (underneath videos & pix, suspension, etc).
So madam Codyella, fix what needs fixing and move on, you don't owe anybody a breakdown of what you've fixed or spent on the car, ignore that dingbat who was asking you to explain how you spent the 100k or shut up for life.

For those who have been here long enough it is another inspiredman (No. 1 online seller grin) saga about to start on the car section. Make I dey watch in 3D. Gazzuz I dey hail you oh grin

A woman complains of a bad business, she's labeled a liar and a man does the same and he is patted on the back and got an apology. Bunch of misogynists!
Say whatever you want, I made my review because I refused to be bullied into silence because I'm a woman.

Amdman, you have done your own. I trusted you with my money and you didn't give me what I asked. And you still feel that you are right in what you did. I only wish you well. What goes around comes around. Its indeed a small world. Farewell.

even the toyota highlander of same year. Yet the highlander averagely sells at 1m or more over the ford edge here. Na the demand for those products in this environment dey drive up the price nothing more. Case in point, ponitac vibe. I know when the price diff btw corolla and matrix was so wide compared to pontiac vibe. But now na same comparable price dem all be. Ford edge is also coming up sha. A lot of Ford edges in Ibadan where i reside...as in a whole lot.

Except a brand new car, fixes are expected after purchase. Too much fuss on this matter. Amdman too has his faults, very poor communication and Buyers too can be unreasonable at times, u are getting very high milage Canadian cars direct, which cost about 250k less than car dealers', you should expect some touches to be done. And in the process of interstate travels during delivery, the car will be pushed to the extreme. Everything here is simply about realistic expectations and calculated risk.

Hello ma'am,
The issue at hand is not a gender thing you are taking it to be.
I'm in no way down playing how you feel however you and the other man who also dropped a complaint are totally different types of customer.
He's a customer that handles bad service better (differently)than you.
However we are talking of over a million naira worth of product/service.
The time factor and after sales cognitive dissonance reaction makes the issue both of you had a total different matter.

Your time frame of complaint is still within buyer's purchase dissatisfaction with a product,
The other man complaint is more of a review having used the car for sometime.
The reaction from both will therefore be different.

When #thismatter started yesterday, I wanted to write my review to buttress some points but then after a while, #thematter seemed to be getting resolved. But it's heated up again, so, I think I should write it nonetheless.

Was my transaction straight forward?, not exactly. Am I satisfied?, definitely.

After following his thread right from day 1, I contacted Amdman on Feb 9, 2020 that I want to buy a Honda Accord 04/05 and that I'm on a very tight budget of 1.2M (I'm sure that money cannot get me such here in Nigeria). He proceeded to show me three options he had available at that time, two 04 (1.2M) model and a 05 (1.25M) model. I made a deposit as per his terms and conditions for the 05 and he proceeded to inspect. There was a number of rust area on the body of the car and the interior wasn't catching at all. He gave a honest review and said we can do better than that one.

At the beginning of this journey, I actually informed a family member so as to give me a different view of things in case I'm getting carried away.

Back to our hunt, he told me that he had review one of the 04 and it seems a very good deal. I saw the pictures too, it's an EX model with a very neat interior for a 04 car. The issue was it had a bumper/fender 'injury'. My family member (FM) was the opinion Amdman just wanted to sell off that car to me, probably because it was cheap but I took Amdman as a honest person. I told him to go review the car again and send me video. Our agreement was that the repairs (bumper/right fender and the little rust areas) will be done for 50k (Remember I made deposit for 1.25M and I are getting that for 1.2M, so, I was still covered)

He did the review of Feb 13 and I really liked the car. He said he drove it for quite some mins and engine is sound. Interior was great from the picture. We noticed some rust area at the bonnet tip and body close to the rear tire by the passenger side. I gave him a go ahead and car was shipped out on Feb 15

All these was done before Covid-19 became a real thing. The epidemic caught the vessel in transit, so, it was a long wait. The vessel finally berthed around April 10 (can't get the specific date again, +/- a day sha). Then the clearing process took a while, and the car came out of port on April 30.

Car was 'taken' to his people workshop (panel beater and painter). This was were the real hussle started. I do not stay in Lagos but these artisans and my cars are in Lagos. My 'FM' said called a family friend who called his mechanic to help go to where the car is and oversee what they are doing. I paid the man 20k for his troubles. When the panel beater and painter billed Amdman, he informed me and told me it was on the high side to what was earlier thought. So, they were planning to straighten the fender rather than replace. He also made mention he had incurred extra expenses due to increased trucking fee and Covid-19 ish. I said I wanted an outright replacement and I sent an extra 20k to him to make sure what I want was done. I had issues with his painter/panel beater (that was envisaged by my FM and I, and that was why we wanted somebody on ground) but the mechanic going there daily made sure things were going a bit smoothly

Before I continue my review and give my opinions later, there was an event that need to be mentioned (this will give an insight into 'Nigeria factor'). After the panel beater took all the whole world to replace the bumper and fender, the painter informed me that the car cannot move from its present position (it was a shock). I called the panel beater and he said the car was towed down to their workshop that the shaft is broken. I called Amdman immediately (he doesn't pick though, that was the first time I tried calling), then sent him WhatsApp messages to register my discontent. He replied later and was also shocked by the revelation. He said he drove the car into the container himself. After enquiries, it was actually during the process of bringing the car down from the container that the shaft got broken. The clearing agent didn't inform Amdman, the panel beater that received didn't inform Amdman. I was informed before him (I know he was furious about this). He gave them money to replace that and was done.

After two deadline passed for the painter to finish his job, O secured the service to follow a police patrol car delivery relief items to Lagos (and to follow them when going back) on May 14. I met the painter finishing his job. I already secured the delivery of a Liqui Moly 5W20 to the car for 15k before I got a there. Car got to my house that same day.

Prior to this, I've downloaded the Honda Accord 04 owner's manual and service repair manual from a torrent site. So, I know what and what is expected. The last service sticker was on the car and it was due for oil change about 800km ago. Took the car to a mechanic shop, bought parts I needed myself, then started instructing them on what you to do. Changed the engine oil and filter, changed all brake pads and brake oil. Had extra 4 tires delivered with the car, so I chose the best ones and put it on the alloy rims. Sprayed the alloy rims and callipers. Another funny thing, took the car to an AC guy for check up (because I felt it wasn't cold enough), the guy was telling me story about how the compressor is not working well enough (Me that I've jerked the owner's manual and the gibberish service repair manual), I told him to come off it. Took the car away from him, and during the engine oil change, I begged my mechanic to help me remove and blow off the AC filter under the dashboard (it was full of dirt when he brought it out)....and that did the trick.

I still have a pending issue of my key fob and also the power steering oil is a bit on the low side (I haven't found the Honda power steering oil around here).

If you are on the WhatsApp group page, I posted the car there of recent.

In conclusion, like I said earlier I'm 99% satisfied by my transaction despite the hurdles.

My Opinions: Amdman is quite honest and he is very proud of that (as he should be). He has little control over Nigeria factors (his clearing agents and mechanics) and he and buyers should give allowance for that.
I still feel he still has the best deal per each car model/year as compared to what you get in Nigeria car stands but (a big BUT) his deals are only meant for patient and well composed individuals (I'm quite sure he was satisfied with my interactions with him). If you are not the above, just save everybody (including Amdman) the energy and buy here in Nigeria (do your due diligence and VIN check and still hope for the best, God's willing)

Also, any car (especially cars more than 10 years old, 2010 and below) being bought (either from Amdman or someone else, from Nigeria stand or preorder) should be budgeted for major maintenance at first, this are also used and not new cars. We also need to put that at the back of our minds.

Apologies for the epistle, apologies for typos. Whatever I typed before 'My Opinions' are facts as known by me and 'My Opinions' are my opinions. Thank you all.

Oh please,
We all agree there would be fixes, but how much?
How much enough for the car to be called Nigerian used and no longer a tokunbo?
How much fixes is needed to say a car is a lemon and a write-off.and not worth a tokunbo?
Sir, how much of it?
The first car I bought was in 2008 from.cotonou,
There was no single rust under the car.
There was rust showing on the engine head (the part that gets very hot after car is started and driven a little). It's a Honda engine.
The only thing I did on that car was servicing (oil and filter) and I worked on the pipes in the braking system. (The rubber pipe leading to the brake disc had a leak somewhere and my brake was failing after I had driven the car for over 4 months.
I changed all the tyres because I wanted a standard look.
That's all.
So I ask how much becomes too much to consider the fixes too much for a tokunbo car.
Modified*** there was also a leakage from the roof ( windshield). I had it glued or gumed.

If you confirmed to us that an issue has been satisfactorily fixed, it is unfair to us to come out 8months later to say it was not fully fixed. Did you then collide with a mechanic to cheat yourself?

You are one of the first people to trust us when we started, so I really hate to join issues with you. I only ask that your comments be fair and be a true picture of what transpired between us.

As I prefer to check each car personally, there is only a finite number of people I can realistically respond to. The system we have in place to filter the requests we get is not foolproof, we have been doing what we can to tweak it to accommodate more people, and will make some further changes next week.

Your referral is important to us and we apologize for how it must appear to you as not valued.

Just make it mandatory for car enquirers to pay a fully refundable downpayment before any serious search for what they are looking for begins. Respond to all requests. If you'll avoid the chit chats and be very formal and direct to the point, it won't take you much time to respond to requests (it just boils down to what the person wants then you give them an estimate, finish). If the person is serious he makes the refundable payment, then you get down to business.
This way you'll be much more responsive and it'll be easier to filter time wasters.

Farewell.

After all your attacks abi review you have not been able to prove anything except oil filter. You no even want amdman to publish proof.

This one you are doing is just playing the gender card. Amdman offered a refund, you turned it down
Madam just enjoy your car and leave wahala alone. Unless that kazeem you brought have complicated things.
