In all this unbalanced contraptions they should remember to strengthen the suspensions and improve engine capacity....else they should only drive this vehicles on paved roads.

The Nigerian army most likely do not have spare parts for engines, transmission and chassis, so they found a way out.

MOWAG Piranha APC of the Nigerian Army on truck.

The vehicles won't go entirely to waste.

This here shows funds is an issue for the army, and the army is thinking outside the box.

Are these vehicles ideal, No, but giving the current situation where we find ourselves we must fully exhaust our current capabilities.

it's only an embarrassment for a while.. Necessity is the mother of invention.. I would rather have this than send our men on hilux and buffalos. When the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable..

Incredibly sad yet incredibly impressive at the same time!! These bush built modified vehicles should really be left to rebel and terrorist groups, Soldiers and Engineers in a professional army shouldn't be expected to build/modify vehicles like this due to lack of spares!!

Nigerian soldiers and engineers are top notch however they are being let down by lack of funding......Just imagine what these boys can do with adequate funding!!

We have some world class companies like ProForce but our Army thinks they can do better and build their own vehicles. Name me one country that does handle things like that? But there is a deeper rooted problem plaguing us: Since 1966 our country is in the grip of narcissistic army officers - this normalization goes that far that we voluntray elected Obasanjo and Buhari two coupist to become our presidents. We live in a zoo, that is for sure..

I agree that the shows a lack of funding for the army, but what can the army really do if the political leadership isn't coming forth with the required funds?

I commend the army, they want troops to ride in armour. Instead waiting and wailing endlessly for armour that might not come, use what is available.

I would rather have the army drive in some sort of protection than none at all.

If the funds were there, they won't do this.

The MIG is not similar to the Sukhoi in anyway. This is a load of rubbish.

The Sukhoi is a heavy weight air superiority fighter designed and built as a response to the F-15 eagle.

The MIG-29 is a medium weight fighter designed as a response to the F-16.

Kabe1 or anyone, do you have any issue if the NAF has a plan for the Jaguar or if the NAF will allow a private Nigeria company take a look at it "take it apart".

The technology in the Jaguar is very outdated, it would be a waste of resources to do that, and there's nothing new in that aircraft that is not already open source.

The only plan I see for the Jaguar is the NAF storing them in a museum.

I don't know why many Nigerians are fixated on that aircraft, not only was it very sanctions prone, it didn't even have a radar. Who will want that in 2020? undecided undecided

The NAF made silly mistakes with the Jags. Am not sure but I think they should have removed and preserved the jet engines, and donate one each to AFIT and FUTO for reverse-engineering and study.
We got nothing from those jets, which shows indolence in thinking on the part of NAF top brass.

Rolls Royce Turbomeca Adour jet engines in the jags.

I don't think we have any equivalent western built jet engines in the NAF today.

Its not about aircraft it's about learning something from it,for instance the engine, control and standing gear. The knowledge from that can be used as the basis for a trainer
