Randy100: Nwanne, you are welcome. Passing through the lions den is not yam/beans. Is it the hurdles of GS (now GST), or that of Abuja if one discipline incorporates Mathematics and Statistics. My brother, UNN as an institution is a training ground to overcome the jungle called Nigeria. |

Mires:You lied not. Studying pharmacy, we had to do the two first year maths and subsequently two statistics. We are just trained to be the best among the rest. 1 Like |

Snowale:Yes, checked. I guess it's a straight six years course and not five years with additional one year. Moreso a Pharm.D curriculum differs from a B.Pharm curriculum. With time they'll blend the two awards together (may be BPPD), prior to PCN futuristic claim that the minimum award for registration will be Pharm.D. 1 Like |

Snowale:It doesn't affect anybody if the holder could humbly insist he's not a Medical Doctor but we all know how things go in Nigeria..Even chemists will smile when you erroneously call them doctors not to talk of pharmacists. 1 Like |

mannyiyke:You're right. When I was going through the list of interns for OAUTHC, even those that had pharmD and O.D were only addressed as Mr and Mrs. it's for the sake of the gullible populace, even the so called graduates in Nigeria can be sometimes gullible.. That's why Ph.D is as irrelevant as p in psychology in hospital setting. |

Randy100: Absolutely true. If the author in the person of Pharmacist former SUG Presido will want to say it, Uniben Pharmacy was a revision as a result of the training she was subjected to in UNN Pharmacy. That reminds me my First year crush in the den. Pharmacist Chiamaka. Black beauty with brain. She got MTH 111, MTH 102, and all her first year courses A. That lady is a genius. |

mannyiyke:Pharmacist is the specific name, just like surgeons, pathologist, Dentists, optometrist, otorhinolaryngologist, veterinarians etc. The are all Doctors. They can all be called doctor. But, a veterinarian would never risk doing the work of a Optometrist, while a pharmacist would never try doing the work of an ENT doctor. 5 Likes |

MrEgghead:Exactly, I don't think any pharmacist would ever try doing the work of a surgeon or Dentist, he knows his job. Just like a Dentist wouldn't do the work of a pathologist. Even though they are all Doctors. 5 Likes |

Snowale:The job of a pharmacist is not to consult, diagnose and treat but they do that in disguise. These days they even do that openly without qualms. As a dentist you can interpret the work of a pathologist for diagnosis and treaatment...btwn a pathologist is a specialist. 2 Likes |

Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by MrEgghead(m): 11:17am On May 31, 2020 |
Snowale:Don't bring this up...Don't ever mention a pharmacist in category of Dentists, surgeons, pathologists, ENT and Vets...All those you mentioned have the qualification to consult, diagnose and treat because they a common designation "MBBS or BDS".... Pharm.D is only a professional doctorate just like Ph.D is a research doctorate. In hospital setting, they can not be called doctors but in other organisations they can. 2 Likes |

Evercurious: Abeg the guy non kick person, if it was in my school the worst you will get is 2 years suspension. I heard the vc had issues with the students (SUG), they never wanted him so he'd being hard on the students. If the student was a child of a prominent person or a lecturer they wouldn't have being expelled. Well like they said the "law is for the poor" |

Re: How I Studied Pharmacy Twice By Lauretta Oyemwenosa Obakpolo by bizzibodi(m): 2:00pm On May 31, 2020 |
This na doctor by hook,an extra one yr suppose gives master degree not D.pharm. No matter how long a lizard stays inside river it can never be a croc. Most of them will end up setting up drug shops or be dispensers in government hospitals,we cannot make drugs in nigeria, but to be importing drugs from China,India & vietnam...all we know is carrying big big certificates Just thinking aloud. |
