Acts 2 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?. 9 [b]Oarthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs--we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine. 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: *[For Those Speaking In Meaningless Tongues - Like Drunkards ]*HAPPY PENTECOST DAY! lalasticlala

I used to attend a Redeemed Church. Anytime they start their worship, within 5 minutes, you start seeing a wave of people falling into this convulsive condition .. & it's usually the ladies. Never saw a guy . At a point i started having this fear that something occutic must be in that building. I even noticed that they cut short worship sessions due to the wave of attack ![]() ...but, imagine, despite the number of times we do the same thing in the Catholic Church, I've never seen anyone gesticulating. is the Holy Spirit that biased? ![]() How can someone be "speaking in tongues" in music? ![]() |

paxonel:Speaking other languages you don't understand at the time of speaking. Scientifically proven that the brain is dormant during such periods. |

ikorodureporta:That is not the way the Spirit of God works though... not in the Bible ikorodureporta:Well, if He is inside of you, why not ask Him? ikorodureporta:A tongue refers to a full-blown language like your native tongue e.g Yoruba, Ibo etc. and just like in any other language, you can sing in the language of your tongue too. |

paxonel:I affirm! Tongue means language. Therefore speaking in tongues means ability to speak different languages, hence the gift of tongues (languages) as provided in the Bible as seen in life1 Corinthians 12: 10. Not the False blablabublabla seen in churches as if they are Bone thugs and harmony. Those ones were even speaking English language. |

CodeTemplar:You are correct but silent the reason why this happens. Scientifically, it has been proven through Functional Magnetic Resonance that cortical and subcortical activation areas of the brain are dormant ONLY when one is possessed and exorcism is required. You may study the effect of brain activity during trances involved in Zen, yoga, and transcendental meditation using spontaneous electroencephalograms techniques. Paul places the difference between Christianity and other religions when he states that the saint is in full control of his mind (Romans 7:25, 1 Corinthians 14:19, 2 Cor.5:13). If this is true, we see that when Christ wanted to reveal Himself to people, the people had full control of their mind - their mind was in an activated state: Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke24:45). The word “Open” is translated “anoigō” meaning “to open up”: This is the modus operandi of Christ. Paul showed us the modus operandi of Satan in 2 Corinthians 4:4: in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds. The word “blind“ gives an illustration of one’s mind being enveloped with smoke. Satan uses a dormant state of the mind or lack of reasoning to wrought his work, Paul says. A dormant state of mind is a window of entry to demonic possession - which can lead to such utterances. Cc: Ikorodureporta |
