A while back, when I used to experience sleep paralysis on a regular basis, I noticed a pattern. I only experience sleep paralysis whenever I sleep on my back(with my chest facing the ceiling).
And since then, I stopped facing the ceiling whenever I sleep and I've not experienced sleep paralysis ever since.
Same with me.
I don't dare sleep on my back.

Medicalnewstoday.com defined sleep paralysis as a feeling of being unable to move, either at the onset of sleep or upon awakening. The individual's senses and awareness are intact, but they may feel as if there is pressure on them, or as if they are choking. It may be accompanied by hallucinations and intense fear.

In Icecoldvein's opinion, sleep paralysis has a plethora of arguments surrounding it. Researchers uphold various scientific hypothesis that represent sleep paralysis as a biological phenomenal, some even insisted that it only happens when your brain wakes up a few seconds before the peripheral nervous complex (the neurons in your body parts), which in turn triggers slow responses to the brain's information by body parts. On the other hand, Spiritualists maintained the notion that sleep paralysis is designed by demons and can only be remedied spiritually.

I used to have sleep paralysis a lot until it stopped, when I embraced some spiritual antidotes.

Below is still the scariest sleep paralysis experience that I ever had......

I heard my ex's voice yell a threat at me, I was scared and tried to get up, realised I was six fts below ground level with a shiny grave moulded untop of me. And suddenly, the skies changed from it's astonishing high resolution filters to the dreadful black and white effect, as it coughed a heavy thunder down my grave....My mummied body immediately knew it was in for it......I tried fleeing from the horrifying dream, never knew a worse comeuppance awaited me. I was thrown into a solid 40 seconds of sleep paralysis.... before I opened my eyes, hissed and mumbled 'Una papa. I don wake up'

Dear NL,
What are your experiences and beliefs about sleep paralysis ? Your inputs may put some people experiencing it at ease.

Kindly share!!

There Papa....Lol, Don't brag yet. Just thank God Bro.

Thank God for your life. If u are late one more second to open your eyes, you would have crossed over for real. Sleep Paralysis is spiritual. Nothing more.

They held me down so real, so spiritual in the dream and I felt it in the physical struggling to dangle my hands and legs. Wanted to shout from the dream but the voice ain't coming out. I could see my self opening the mouth, no one hearing the voice, throwing my hands and feet's in the air like a drowning person, but truth is nothing was actually moving.

Guess what moved everything......
When I shouted "JESUS".
Even the neighbour in the next street heard it so loud that he WhatsApp me immediately to check on me.
There and then, I knew I was a "gonner" if not for the intervention of God.

Yes Sleep paralysis occur but in African setting its often spiritual inclined. I see sleep paralysis as the point where you are struggling not to cross that fine line between this sinful world and the world beyond. Where forces out there are pulling you and you just have to have the right and timely response for them. Whatever they want you have to give them on-time right in your deep and struggling sleep fighting. It is a spiritual fight while sleeping and your physical body will feel it too when you finally won by opening your eyes.

It's only ever happened to me once and it was last year. It was scary as hell, I had heard about it a lot.
I had not watched any scary movie prior to the experience.
As usual I went to bed a bit late, my 5am alarm went off I just snoozed it to try and sneak more sleep in. Then I had this sort of weird dream of some very beautiful demon with actual horns and black eyes giving me a Mouth Gig, I mean it was wild, my legs were moving at first. I was concious of everything that was happening, I didn't like what I was receiving. I knew the Mouth Gig was weird, I wanted to like snap her head and stop. Fam, nothing was happening, I couldn't move, I could only watch a demon blowing me, I felt precum before I finally woke up.
Which kind story be this? grin

I was about 6 or 7 when I had my first sleep paralysis.
It was in the afternoon and I was sleeping on the couch. Then I woke up.
I knew I was awake but my eyes were still shut. I became scared and I couldn't even move any part of my body. I tried opening my eyes again and I saw my grandma. I tried calling out to her but she couldn't hear me.
I kept struggling until I fell asleep or something. Then I woke up again by 7pm.
First thing I did was to ask my granny why she didn't help me wake up, she told me she didn't notice anything.
I was shocked and scared at the same time.

Well,I experienced this same scenerio last week and I think it goes beyond science. I slept in my sitting roomn and saw a ghost pulling my hands.I shouted Jesus,Jesus, and immediately the ghost left and i woke up around 2 a.m with my windows wide open. These are my observations

1. This stuff normally happens in the middle of the night
2. It happens often when I am sleeping beside windows that are not closed
3. Anytime I remember to close the windows it will never happen
3. During this experience, shouting of Jesus normally makes me to become conscious very fast
4. There are days I may not be able to call the name Jesus and the “demon"or whatever it is will continue to press me until I finally regain my strength ( which is after much struggle)

Whatever it may be,it is not funny and can lead to something else......I PRAY GOD SHOULD ALWAYS GUIDE THROUGH EVERY NIGHT REST AND PROTECT IUR SOULS FROM ANY ATTACK,IF THERE IS ANY.AMEN.
Thanks sir for this. Most times when they happened to me as a child I would try and shout but always feel something holding my throat until at last either I'm able to shout Jesus or imagine saying his name then I wake up suddenly.

There's a demon responsible for this sleep paralysis, but I've forgotten it name. It's real and it's not good. But science won't let us understand it proper. The demons use it as a means to carry out their evil plans on humans especially those who are weak in spirit.
Bullshit.

Mine was one day I was sleeping on my side... Suddenly I felt skeletal fingers wrapped me from behind...and I felt a hot breath behind me on my neck. I thought that was the end of my life. This demon was pulling me down through my bed and I had the worst fear ever. I had to Imagine Jesus name to be freed.

I’ve had sleep paralysis for long ...I’ve actually never discussed this with anyone but whenever I’ve sensed that I’m in sleep paralysis mood I will surely believe that I will surely wake up within seconds....One of the most scary sleep paralysis I had was I saw myself falling from a very high building or mountain( I’m the only one that can imagine how tall it was) I fell and fell and fell from above and finally about to touch the ground then I saw that the bottom was a very Sea and it was making serious waves and huge waves rather ...I felt helpless and was very scared to be swallowed by that very big sea...I woke up when I almost touched the water and opened my eyes...I thought it’s the end when until I noticed that I couldn’t open my mouth to recite a Quranic Verse, I couldn’t move my legs neither any part of my body but I could rotate my eyes and I can see the ceilings and the standing fan in my room....I recited some Quranic verses with my mind and I woke up fully after and I still said “ Koni daa fun yin papo”. I actually always believe God Dey with me angry

Add to that fact that at times, while limb, you can feel the presence of a human either walk in or staring at you, some even want to come for sex. Only sleep paralysis?. That's strong demonic activity. You need strong fire prayers to stop that rubbish

Well I was accused of witchcraft during my NYSC days because of this.
Someone who hated me convinced all the people I shared room with overnight that I was the one pressing them. It was corpers fellowship house with those religious folks who thought they had the right to lynch me for being a 'witch'. It was traumatic guys.

how silly is this theory? Someone gets paralyzed from head to toe, no previous history, no high blood pressure, perfect perfect health..... Then sudden paralysis and a heavy weight.... If it was just the paralysis, that would have been justified, how do you explain the weigh, or pressure from an unseen force. Pls you people should stop this. Never wanting to admit the truth cos of fear. Awon team "bill gate is a good man with good intentions". If I hear

I had it multiple times and till today I dont know how and when it stopped, it just did
It happens so soon like 5minutes after laying on the bed, I hear and am aware of everything going on around me but I can't move, but at a point I have it like thrice a day and it got so scary,
The funniest part is that I'd try so hard to get up but it would feel like am chained to my bed, I even try to scream most times but no one hears and I couldnt tell anyone till it stopped
It got to a point that I don't close my door anymore cos if you knock till tomorrow I won't be able to move, even if you come in and sweep off all the stuffs I won't be able to move until it wants me to, I got so scared of sleep, sleeping became my worst nightmare,i will feel like am pinned down or tied down, but thank God it stopped cos it was a bad experience
And most times I sleep laying on my chest for people to think am in a deep sleep cos it happens sometimes with my eyes opened and rolling, sometime I told my roommate in school to always come and pull me off the bed whenever he gets back and meets me sleeping b cos I used to be a very sensitive sleeper ,I wake up as soon as anything moves but the paralysis changed every damn thing. he asked why but I couldnt tell

Its pure spiritual oppression . While i was still experiencing it i decided to test if it is a being beside it or just normal biological experience. One day when i wanted to sleep i put an object on my neck and covered it with cloth. Later i fell into a semi conscious state and felt somebody using leg to check out what was on my neck.

Why did you put an object on your neck?

I've had it since I was a small boy, and it runs in the family. Then it was scary now it's just an annoyance.

Initially I was scared that I was dead or would be stuck like this forever. Seeing scary things and hearing voices didn't help, you wanted to scream but couldn't even do that.

Sometimes I would have them every night or multiple times a day. After some years I gained control and learned how to break out of it.

So here's what you should know if you're currently going through this;

1- You're still sleeping.
2- You're not going to die just calm down.
3- Don't bother screaming no one can hear you.
4- Try to think about moving your fingers or toes, if you can move that you can slap yourself into waking up.
5- Avoid sleeping on your back I noticed that triggers it.
6- Try to avoid covering your face when sleeping, it will just make you panic when it happens.
7- The witches you hear aren't real, just ignore them and they will go away.
8- Try to see a psychiatrist or neurosurgeon, you might have an undiagnosed mental illness or brain disorder like seizures or narcolepsy.

I once experienced it
I was mega high a night before
So I woke up in the middle of the night to get something but getting up was war
Like I couldn't couldn't move my body up and then I choked
After forcing myself for a little while
I murmured some prayers and slept back
Woke up better

Devil is a liar. He puts big name and explanation on oppression. My last "sleep paralysis" was over 10years ago. You know what happened? i dealt ruthlessly with the devil immediately after the last one. Since then, i've slept like a baby.
