Donald Trump is not the first American President to invoke the Insurrection Act. If it was good in 1992 to end the rioting and looting that was then confined to Los Angeles, then it must be good in 2020 to end the rioting and looting spreading concurrently across several cities in America.

Around 1988, during one of the protest by students, and student was shot and killed by a policeman. This exasperated the situation, and students was about rioting, the then V.C. Prof Wande Abimbola quickly reached out to the student union and called for an urgent meeting with with the students. The meeting was set for the football field at the sports centre. The V.C. who is an Ifa priest came wearing his full Ifa regalia. As rude as the students were, he spoke calmly and asked everyone to sit down. He himself sat on the bare ground and discussed with the student leaders. After about 1 hour of intense negotiations, the V.C. ordered the police off campus, and a major catastrophe was averted.
Professor Wande Abimbola's tenure was the only period I recall that there was no major riot in IFE. A good administrator listen to grievances and calm the nerves of aggrieved people, not issue threats.

Seriously Appleyard, it's like I am dreaming but to be candid, you are spot on. A president should be for all the citizens of his or her country regardless of race, gender or wealth. Trump truly believes that he is the President for Whites in Red States and since we know politics is an act of Addition not Subtraction. You will notice that cities where the protests were very peaceful were where the police chiefs engaged the rioters in a friendly and amicable manner. Some even matched with the protesters.

Timbuktuo yesterday was calling George Floyd's brother that was calling for calm and non violent protest in America Uncle Tom. Do any sane person say that to a guy that his brother was lynched in broad day light by Nazis in uniform. Some of these Trump lovers here never condemned the brutal way George was killed while begging for his life. They are only worried about the looting and burning. I am against looting and burnings too but alk those stores that were looted are fully insured and they will be compensated by the insurance companies for their loss but nothing can bring the lives of George and thousands of other Brown and Black people that has been killed by Nazi police officers.
