Appleyard, you know you and I and few others here are doyennes here. Seriously, you are metamorphosising before my eyes. You are absolutely right on point. A mark of a leader is to calm down a situation especially when the nation is grieving and in pain. Trump is not mentally capable of doing that because he sees himself as a President for certain part of the country. A president is a calming voice during trying period in US. Let me give you an example. About 30 years ago in Los Angeles, Rodney King was brutally beaten by four white police officers and Los Angeles and it's suburbs literally went on fire and George Bush Snr came out and addressed the nation and there was calm. 911 happened under Bush jnr, and George Jnr went to NY City and stood on top of the Twin towers ruins and addressed the nation and calm the nation down. Clinton did with Queresh cult followers and so did Obama called down the effects of Ferguson riots but here we have a president Trump who is mentally incapable of putting out the fire burning in America. This on going problem started from frustrations of seeing Blacks and Brown's being killed disproportionately by Nazi police officers. I can give you twenty names of recent black men and women that have been slaughtered by White racist police officers not to talk about Ahmaud Arbery that was slaughtered by a racist father and son just for jogging in their neighborhood. Can these coons that support Trump think of what the families of the lynched people are going through ?.

To make way for him, police cleared peaceful demonstrators with tear gas, rubber bullets and flash grenades.
The president is facing mounting criticism for his response to the unrest that has broken out in cities across the US.

Trump stood outside St John's Episcopal Church, which is just outside the White House. He held a Bible while news cameras rolled, before returning inside.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson tore into White House senior adviser and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner on Monday night, blaming him for leading the president astray and having “contempt” for Trump’s voters as violent protests rage across the country.

Kicking off Tucker Carlson Tonight by raging against the increasingly chaotic demonstrations that have flared up over George Floyd’s death, Carlson first took issue with Republican leaders sympathizing with peaceful protesters.

“Who are you talking about?” Carlson growled. “Is it the people spitting foam as they scream ‘F the police’? Is it the one sitting next to the arsonist doing nothing as they set fire to buildings? Is it the kids laughing as they filmed the looting and the beatings on their iPhones?”

After wondering aloud why he should be “required to be upset about” an unarmed black man’s death at the hands of police, Carlson then turned his attention to the president, whom he has almost never personally criticized on his show.

Noting that Fox News anchor Leland Vittert was harassed by protesters outside the White House on Friday night, Carlson asked Trump: “If you can’t keep a Fox News correspondent from getting attacked directly across from your house, how can you protect my family? How are you going to protect the country? How hard are you trying?”

The Fox star then applauded the president for his Monday evening statement threatening to deploy the military to tamp down the protests, which Trump delivered as Washington, D.C., police tear-gassed peaceful protesters.

“Good for him,” Carlson said before turning his attention to Kushner.

Claiming Trump will lose in November if he doesn’t ratchet up his response to the protests, Carlson blamed Kushner for not understanding the gravity of the situation and advising Trump not to address the situation.

“No one has more contempt for Donald Trump’s voters than Jared Kushner and no one expresses it more frequently,” Carlson said.

I know that after my life here on earth, I will give account of my life to God, and that include what I stood for and what I didn't stand for. It is only someone who have sold his soul to the devil, the father of lies, that would praise Trump on this one. How can a president not publicly address a nation in crisis is beyond me. Even our dull Buhari still manages to address issues of public importance. I'm very disappointed in Trump on this one. Those who are blind to the reality can go on supporting him for this senseless show of irresponsibility. God will judge everyone of us.

I respect you for that. People here know that I love Obama but I called him out after the continuation of the useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I hated his stand on abortion due to my Catholic education but the problem with our guys here that fawn over Trump is that they think of him as next to Jesus Christ. He's a perfect being to them. Some of these guys love Trump more than their fathers and that's very sad knowing that these are the same kind of people Trump and his Nazi followers hates with all the cells in their souls.

Timbuktuo yesterday was calling George Floyd's brother that was calling for calm and non violent protest in America Uncle Tom. Do any sane person say that to a guy that his brother was lynched in broad day light by Nazis in uniform. Some of these Trump lovers here never condemned the brutal way George was killed while begging for his life. They are only worried about the looting and burning. I am against looting and burnings too but alk those stores that were looted are fully insured and they will be compensated by the insurance companies for their loss but nothing can bring the lives of George and thousands of other Brown and Black people that has been killed by Nazi police officers.

The lootings is wrong, burning the church is wrong. But the point is, much of this could have been averted if the presidency has been all over the place condemning the gruesome act, appealing to the people and speeding up the prosecution process so people's minds can come down a little bit. But sadly, none of this happened.

Calling and speaking with the family of the dead is a step in the right direction, but is not enough. It isn't Floyd's family that's protesting in the street now.

Address the nation, promise changes, and because human beings are the same everywhere, I tell you, many of the people making up the rioters will step on the gasket and a sizable portion of the riot will stop. Before you know it, the riot will die a natural death.

Unfortunately, some blind folks here think Trump don't need to address and plead with the rioters because to them, all of them are Antifas, thugs, and worthy to be shot. That's how you know a crazy fanatic.

I can't believe that someone in this thread could open his mouth to say if the president calls for the prosecution of the cops involved, he would be usurping the powers of the court. Can you imagine?.

In Lafayette Square, one of the visiting priests attending to St. John’s was sprayed with tear gas as she tried to help peaceful demonstrators who were also teargassed and forcefully dispersed to clear the area so that Trump could pose with the Bible.
