Only popular candidates win direct primaries. Its practiced even in d US.
But our politicians choose what will favour them.The problem of indirect primaries is that a rich candidate esp sitting governors can buy off 80% of d deligates and camp them ( eg 2018 Ekiti APC governorship primary,2019 PDP presidential convention)
Moreover, indirect primaries is d best. The party men you abandoned in different units and wards will send you parking during primaries.

Seriously, you should know not the most popular wins election. With direct primary, ballot paper or votes can be manipulated because you are dealing with 192 locations as against one in indirect primary. But it is time INEC standardize primary election in Nigeria. This is the root of bad governance. INEC should be in-charge of primary election and it should be direct to allow all party member choose their candidate rather than selecting a few persons to do choose for the whole.

Direct primaries is d best way to remove a disloyal sitting governor.
The antedote is to jump ship ,allign with d opposition party and make them fomidabe as d case of Utom and Tambuwal.
The problem now is that Obaseki has no root,concrete achievements and personality.He just depends on APC rigging and he's ready to die for it. Once he lose out in d primaries, his little support will diminish and d winner will use that to bash him in all fronts.
