The House of Representatives has voted against a prayer seeking to recommend castration for rapists.

The House, at the plenary on Thursday, considered and adopted a motion on the rising cases of sexual violence in Nigeria.

A member, Mr James Faleke, had recommended that persons found guilty of rape should be castrated.

Just before the prayer was subjected to a voice vote, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, however, asked what would happen to an older female who rapes a younger male.

The comment generated noise in the chamber, The PUNCH reports.

Putting the prayer to vote, the nays had it.

Whoever that suggested castration for a rape case is mad .

I heard a woman threatening her Ex Lover some days back that "I go show you Wetin I take be woman." because he dumped her for another girl .

Such woman with a mindset as that could falsely accuse the guy of rape just to punish him .

I believe there's already a punishment (prison) in place for rapists. The only thing that needs to be done is enforcement, not all these unrealistic punishment like castration or death sentence.

If we X-ray our society, rapists are found among both genders, not men alone.
