Surely you know the difference between conventional and asymmetrical warefare. Did the US conquer the Taliban in Afghanistan or defeat the Vietcong? Did the UK defeat the IRA? Which conventional army has defeated an insurgency anywhere in the world? Nigeria should be the first abi?

The only way of defeating terrorism is to destroy the conditions that feed the insurgency. That is the "war" we should be tracking.
