This issue of skin bleaching among africans, is a very sensitive topic because its so rooted in most people's mentality and they will do anything to shrug it off or defend the act.

No matter how you choose to twist the narrative, the truth remains that people bleach their skin because of inferiority complex, feeling insecure about your natural skin tone, we see those light skin blacks as very beautiful, we watch t.v programs and see White's as a standard of beauty, hence we condemn everything black.

Skin bleaching, among many other issues reflects the struggles blacks face in the society. How can we claim to love being black when every month u spend thousands just to keep getting lighter and lighter, strangers call u oyibo and u feel so happy. Funny thing, the oyibos (non-racists) u liken yourselves to, find very dark tone blacks attractive.

The percentage of people bleaching in Nigeria is alarming, no awareness, re-education of the society to help people struggling to love their skin have a change of mind. Hence from compound to compound, street to street, its very difficult to find a family without at least 1 person bleaching. If you travel outside Africa, you will be shocked to know many blacks dont bleach, infact its very difficult to find bleaching products in stores in Europe, no 1 has that mindset.

I understand that nigeria and most African countries are typically very sunny and hot, hence people use that as excuses as well, but the truth is skin bleaching (also called toning by those in denial) is not the solution. Assuming we had a working society, there should have been efforts to create skin products to protect Africans from the adverse effects of sun exposure to the skin.

This is what we should all clamor for, not bleaching products that damages your skin and everything being black stands for. We have a very loooooooong way to go but things we can change, let's try and change, it definitely matters more than we think.

You can print those images, hang them in your living room and bury yourself in hate, or you can move on and put slavery behind you. The world has moved on.

Even Jews they were gased in their millions have moved on. They don't look at Germans today and see Hitler.

They need to move on for a better tomorrow.

Perhaps we need to concentrate on helping the blacks find morals and substance again.

By teaching their children to stay out of thuggery,
By forcing the kids to finish high school and by extension, college

By refraining from aborting the future generations in the name of my body my choice,

By understanding that the black child needs a father figure in his life to guide his character development.

These are the real issues plaguing the black communities and when they fix this, their lives will begin to mattet
