How about you just bloody let this guy be?! This guy isn't even saying anything - there's A LOT of rot amongst the military cadre and soldiers are being sacrificed for nothing! Heck, don't you even worry about your colleagues out there? Riding around in light skins while large sums are being budgeted for the renovation of a bloody building? Where are the NDA officers? Where are the comms equipment budgeted for the NA? Whose billions was Otiki moving from time to time?

If his reports don't interest you, then simply ignore. If you are in the North East, then share your own stories. If you want to make your ogas look good here, then that's fine too. You guys can't turn the entire press in the country into one giant mummy and come here expecting us to be your zombies too!

Just allow us to keep reading in peace whilst I hope my guys and cousin make it back alive! Then we can worry about the PTSD and if they'll ever have a normal life. Pfft!

Thank you for this comment. Never knew you observed this pattern too. This is my first comment since 2018 on nairaland but I follow this thread religiously even though I live outside Nigeria and in a country where BLM movements started. However, I am a patriotic Nigerian and wish to know the true state of things in the country; not the polished and garnished news.

Some of us watch this thread anonymously and pray for our gallant soldiers everyday. Don't coat anything, please update Nigerians on diaspora more through this thread. We love to know. May God protect our boys and give us good leaders in Nigeria.

You have a serious problem; It’s a pointing out or stating a mere fact. Nothing worst or new in the N.E theatre he has to say that would make the thread explode grin, if Sirius 1st thread did not explode during the dark time then why would this thread be shocked grin

From the question you asked ? It shows you’re displaying your high level of ignorance about the ongoing war in the north east and you’ve been following this thread and others for a while now.
NDA/commissioned officers are actively involved in the war as well has NCO who have both paid the supreme price.

Ask your past corrupt chiefs about the money meant for comm’s equipment, and also money to build a factory that was to be producing the Beryl riffles ? Am sure guys like you kept your moth shot then you where not ranting or complaining then !
Has for the renovating and building of new building for service men we love it and we deserve it ! If you have a problem with that you can go to hug a transformer ! One thing I know for sure is that the past administration or service chiefs where not concern about service men welfare or arming the military. They where good at embezzlement, check out your past Otiki chiefs all of them with fat bellies smiley

I have complained about poor state of the military here constructively even more than Sirius and have landed in serious trouble. Have you wondered why sometimes I don’t comment on the thread for months !
Don’t tell me about not concerned about soldiers in the frontline, it’s a hard realty of war that we loose good soldiers and innocent civilians.
I have not taking anyone to be my zombies and I don’t expect anyone to be, talkless of not allowing people not to read or comment in peace.
If stating a fact is your problem and been constructive then I don’t know what else is your concern undecided

I didn’t attack Samuel neither was I harsh in my comment. It was a mere fact, if he was there in the period he would said the thread would explode with a nuclear fusion.

We are all agitating for better standard of living for our service men both in the barracks and frontline likewise better and standardized equipment to prosecute the ongoing war. And I have been and I will always be an apostle of such gospel

We learn (a little) more about the death of Droukdal, chief of Aqm

We now know a little more about the death of the leader of al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), the Algerian Abdelmalek Droukdal, killed by French forces in the north of Mali, near the Algerian border.

Friday evening, Florence Parly announced her elimination specifying that Droukdal had been killed Thursday in Talhandak, north-west of the Malian city of Tessalit. "Several of his close associates" have also been "neutralized," said the minister on Twitter, without further details.

The operation, we quickly learned, had associated the Americans who confirmed the death of the terrorist leader . "The US Africa Command was able to help, with information (...) and support to block the target," Colonel Chris Karns, AFRICOM spokesperson , told CNN. .

Details.
This Thursday, the French Ministry of the Armies revealed other information.

A target had been followed for two days in this region (source ROEM) as part of an upstream work carried out by the French services; the target was identified Thursday during the day, shortly before the raid.

The operation was carried out during the day (for weather reasons) by special forces (FS) helicoptered 80 km north of Tessalit.

The following were engaged on the French side: fifteen men on the ground, helicopters (including a Tiger and a Gazelle ) and a Reaper drone in support. No details on the US engagement however.

No injuries on the French side. No "damage" either.

Objective: the bivouac (probably) of the head of Aqmi and his escort. Surprised at the stop, the terrorists abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot while fighting.

The action of the intervention module made it possible to neutralize Droukdal and three of his men (whose bodies were buried on the spot). A last man, obviously a member of the escort (the driver?), Was captured without fighting. This prisoner was handed over to the Malians after being heard by the Barkhane Force .

Were seized phone cards, telephones, a computer.

What original parent company partner?

What heresy is this? Toyota Hilux $60k? Only the latest Toyota Rugged X (which we don't use) is of that price.

What BTR60! Do you know a BtR60?

What Army on the continent boasts NVG and Optic sights as standard?

Look at a person with ingrained bitter rancour and irrational deep seated negative self birthed prejudice.

You have a dislike sorry a HATRED for anything that l write, but why ❓ Your "bad belle" enraged hostility towards my contributions is like a "Red flag to a bull" unfortunately this deranged mentality has completely befuddled you ur sense of reasoning.

First of all I made reference to the Toyota gun trucks, which are in general recognised as the very durable and resilient 70 Series Toyota Land cruiser double cab pick-up. They are modified for military use and if it's the diesel derivative it will have a 4.2 diesel with a huge amount of torque.

The Current model is the series 79. I know it retails in Europe in excess of £50k in its base model. I would expect that if you are buying in multiples of 200 from manufacturers you should able to get a degree of wholesale discount.

At what stage did l make reference to the Toyota Hilux

Yes I do know a BTR -60, as well as the multiple designations that have been manufactured across the entire former Eastern block.

Production of the BTR 60 ended in about 1980, Polish variant OT64, Romanian Tab71, The Ukrainian have thier own designation of the BTR.

The BTR has progressed from the BTR60, 70, 80, 90 and currently the improved armour and mine protection 82A. Although its life cycle is mow limited with the introduction of the excellent VPK-7829 Bumerang. APC.

Nigeria did procure in my opinion the much better BTR -3 in terms of it armour and mine protection. But again not in enough numbers maybe the NA has about 50 I really don't know. Shockingly we procured only 4 of the more modern BTR-4.

From the limited pictures and angle of view l can say l am almost 90% certain it is a BTR -60. For you to contend with me with such disdain implies you think l am WRONG .

Can you please educate us any tell what it is please the possibility exits I could be very wrong.

SO TELL US Please .

The context was that particularly the BTR 80 cam be procured used at either a lower or comparable price of a brand new Toyota gun truck.

Finally, l see nothing wrong with oil rich Nigeria and the NA having at least 30,000 NVG to be issued to NA combatants which would more or less make it standard issue. Why can't we be the first in Africa

As well as having a more precision minded assault rifle with optics as standard. Time to leave the AK47 behind in history.

The same hand-me-down MRAPs you want from EDAs are of the same weight class of the ARA you lampooned.

I beg to differ, NA cannot afford to have vehicles for different roles. Its just not viable
. We all yell for standardization on a single platform across the classes of vehicles. If LAVs were dire to NA, Proforce PF2 could have been pressed into service in hundreds.

All things being equal, The Ara should have a lighter version. In the 9/10Ton class and at once cover all the LAV/APC/MRAP needs

Considering the bold you presented that's simply a nonsensical proposition with absolutely no substance. As well as devoid of any rationality.

Do you know how many different armoured vehicle variants Moroccan, Egypt, Algeria, Israel, UAE, Saudi A, have.

MRAP's still have thier use we say mission specific different missions require different vehicles.

I have noticed that the 20 or so MRAPS given to the NA for free have been used right in the heat of the battle leading the forward line in a frontal assault.

Can even begin to imagine the impact just 500 MRAP'S will have on the NA. Then add to that you got them for FREE that is dash. If you can't appreciate that then I'm lost for words where you are concerned.

Go back to my submission l used the term HERE and NOW we don't have time to wait for years to produce locally. Every day combatants are putting thier lives at risk getting captured as the rude in suicide soft skinned pick to trucks.

We need the equipment Now not even tomorrow.

That's why you procure used but still very much effective and capable. So you can have it NOW.

It would take less than a month to have 1000 different armoured vehicle platforms sourced from the Eastern block deployed in the NE.

Its this type of regressive thinking that made some very ill advised and down right inept decision. To procure 12 turboprop aircraft A29 with now we know from the contract specifications limited impact in 2018 that we will not see the first aircraft until the end of the Year and the in completion in 2024.

Who goes out to buy aircraft when you are fighting an existential insurgency with huge losses. That will take you 6 years to receive.

Is that not madness sorry to say.

There are no Civilians in these 5 LGAs. Marte, Baga, Kukawa, Abadam, Gudzamala. These areas remains the Biggest home base of ISWAP. smiley

This insurgency war has nothing to do with Civilians living in a location.

“All the Local Governments that were taken over by the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa have long been recovered and are now occupied by indigenes of these areas who were hitherto forced to seek a living in areas far from their ancestral homes.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2020/06/democracy-day-all-lgs-once-controlled-by-boko-haram-have-been-recovered-buhari/amp/

The above is the lies and why this war might not come to an end.

Buhari said all Local Governments have been reclaimed and Civilians back to their abode.
But these Local Governments (Marte, Gudzamala,Kukawa,Abadam and Baga ) indigenes have not returned. They are still in IDP camps in Monguno and Maiduguri cool

Anyone in Northeast to counter my post on this Local Government Areas?

People like only come once in a while and the only thing you do best his to troll. Tell me how my attitude is been notorious or been “over sabi pass” !
Your state of bewilderment his so questioning that one should ask if what you stated now should be directed towards your companion who stated the thread would explode over what ?

Your fellow companion claimed 5 L.G.A are under the control of ISWAP, which is no news for any body who is Borno or around north-eastern part of the country. Baga is a town like Alangono under Kukawa L.G.A.
This 5 local government that been occupied by ISWAP was a deliberate effort in pushing back terrorist activity and occupation, towards the northern part/lake chad area ! A strategy that I must say failed or back fire.

The absence of civilians in these LG area was deliberate by the military because of terrorist activities. Not only that fishing selling in Baga has been banned for 5years so what do you expect them to be doing, when there major occupation and means of livelihood has be banned.

ISWAP controls trade, imposes taxes and facilitates agricultural activities in the area.
Military efforts to eliminate the group’s funding source have had the unintended consequence of endangering civilian livelihoods. This has encouraged people to find creative ways to circumvent government controls, with the help of ISWAP.

The five-year ban on using the Maiduguri-Monguno-Baga and Maiduguri-Gamboru-Ngala roads to transport fish in Borno State is one strategy to counter Boko Haram’s dependence on fish trading. Both community and military sources have reported the seizure, burning and diversion of fish consignments by government forces along these routes. This has often been accompanied by the arrest and detention of fish traders on suspicion of supporting Boko Haram.

This approach has brought socioeconomic hardship to communities, exacerbated unemployment, and caused increases in fish prices and inactivity in this 5 L.G.A .
