That small difference is huge in the eyes of some tech guys

It's actually huge. It is an overall 15% better performer. If it were sub 5% it would be negligible. To put it simply, there would be no need to utilize the BIG cores more often as the little cores will be able to handle the task. This makes the G80 also more efficient than the G70 in this case.

There are other features on the G80 like VoW and low Latency.
