I rembered this vivdly and reported n the news
Neddstark:
So far, we have been blaming cultism on our youths, etc. But lets face it, the reason why cultism thrives in the Nigerian society is as a result of the weak Nigerian system. Yes the Nigerian security system is weak and shitty. If police had given OP justice against the cultists that intimidated him, would he have blended? 20 years ago, over 40 NBM members invaded OAU and brutally killed 5 students. Till now, not one of the culprits have been arrested, despite the fact that over 10 confessed as being part of the killings.
Cultists have field day killing in Ikorodu, Benin, makurdi, etc, after the murders, police simply come and pick up the dead bodies. Little or no investigations are done. The killers getting away from justice so easily will make them more brazen to commit more crime and they might only get nemesis in the hands of their rivals rather than with the laws of the country. Every week, a cult killing goes on in Nigeria. Please how many times have the police actually arrested someone who perpetrated the murder? The system has made it a part of us. More than 80% of cult killings go uninvestigated, not to talk of justice served.
Now the new trend is that the force allows ex-cult and active cult members into its security force. There is a large concentration of active cultists in the police, immigration, customs and military. Lets face it cultism will never end in Nigeria. It has come to stay. If you do not watch your children well, they will end up becoming cultists. Situation is sad. If you have some good amount of funds, consider getting out of this country. While you are here avoid trouble as much as you can. Human life has little value except you are somebody popular or rich.
Just saying...

I just saw a video of one guy lying down nude, bleeding and tired.

One voice is heard in the background, "bring the metal"

One guy enters the scene with an axe and starts to chant "aye axxe men" while the one recording choruses "ayes", the chant and chorus continues while he systematically butchers the guy's head with an axe.

To what end?
See eh, don't say no to cultism.
Love their slangs, love their lingua franca, love their mode of dressing, love their intimidations, love their brutality.

Join please, we are tired of telling you to say no.
Say yes. Join any frat of your choice.
Chances are if you are diligent and hardened enough to kill, you would become number one soon with a few murders under your belt.
One day you'll also be butchered like a fowl.
You'll be stripped naked, the last vestige of your dignity taken from you by force.
Your head will be used to make nkwobi and your loved ones will take your brains and intestines that are on the floor to make pepper soup.

Chaiiiii na so hard man take go sha
I just prayed he repented before getting killed
It is at that last moment he will realize he has been lied to and he's no strong man but just a weakling more than a day old baby

DSS not aware?! Then what kind of vetting do they do? What I'm more puzzled is that with the Ops well coloured past with gangs and drugs that the DSS still recruited him. I'm wondering what is the criteria for working with them because I always believed that these kind of organisations recruited a certain cadre of people.

90% Nigerian service men/women belongs to some forms of cult e.g Rof etc, freedom of association,it's actually not illegal.

Cultism is much deeper than what you see here. It's funny you saying every intending cultist knows what he's getting into when a good number of active cultists is yet to realize what they're into.

There's this darkness that comes with it, you can never know about it until you start practicing.

You won't understand

Some will drop a post or two on the negative impact of cultism & then do a major comeback to say cultism has come to stay, it is deeply rooted bla bla. Lol, cultists & cult apologists hanging on straws. Some said the same about colonialism, slave trade, military rule etc. You know how that went.

Someone even said a certain cult rules the NSCDC, FRSC etc. Oh, dont be ridiculous. As long as we agree that cultism has eaten badly into the society, whats the suprise if a couple of them are in the army or nscdc or even the police? Are they not members of the same society?

About the 5 who died at OAU, sad but their death wasnt in vain. For them, cultism is about dead in Ife. That incident resonated even into Unilag. Today, the average student there doesnt know what cult has a particular color.

Cultism as it is now is only appealing to criminals & people with criminal tendencies.

Cultism is destructive & evil & has no place in a civil & progressive society. We're not barbarians.

I was on the nbm dude thread and some people were shouting "OP say everything, we gat your back, Op don't be afraid they can't do anything to you,Op nothing will happen we are here"

When the Nigger was killed and one dude announced that he was shot, those people started saying "awww so painful, Rip to him,Op shouldn't have said everything about his hit,Op caused it he shouldn't have said information that could made them trace him" and those people were the one urging him now he died and they changed tune.

Anybody that's intrigued about cultist horror stories and want 100% tales about cultist hits should go and join them so he can start killing and narrate the hits to his younger brothers.

Lol. I see where your statement was directed. The difference between us is that you're an optimist, while I am a realist. The fact is that like the present Nigerian system cannot curb fraud, the present Nigerian system neither curb cultism. You think ending cultism is by saying no to cultism on Nairaland? It goes a long way. The Nigerian government itself is not ready to stop it. Take a look at how the US government brought down the Black Panther in the 70s and reduce the impact of the Italian mafia. Has your government taken any proactive measures like that. Cult killings that happen in your state, how many are properly investigated. We can only warn our friends, families and those that find themselves in Nairaland. The large society is out there, young men are bamming every month. Anyways instead of countering me, you can make a major step like OP did against cultism. As for me, I'll keep being a realist and warning those who I can. God help us.

Lets be clear, you're not a realist but a pessimist. More like a mediocre who would rather make do with status quo than seek for a positive change for societal advancement.

A realist would acknowledge that the society is being degraded & disrupted by cultism; understanding that now more than ever our society & the future of our youth are in danger of cultism, drugs & fraud.

There's the BLM going on in the US & around the world as we speak. The citizens could have sat in their houses, waiting for govt. to do it all. What people like you - and many Nigerians - dont get is that, the job of building the society is all inclusive. The govt. has a part to play, you & I have a part to play as well. If I post #SayNoToDrugs it doesnt mean the NDLEA are not capable or have stopped working. I'm only doing my bit to create awareness as a citizen.

We need you to be positive. Radiate light & encourage young people. Spread hope & not fear. Evil prevails when good people are quiet.

how do you seek for a positive change when your government doesn't want a positive change......you can be full of optimism as much as you want but the sad reality will remain, as long as the government does nothing about it,I'm not seeing a change, if all cultist were to mysteriously disappear, be sure to see the emergence of new ones.

Oga, what has Nigerian government done to fight cultism? I mean a real campaign against cultism like the one against herdsmen and boko haram.
People die from cultism every week in Nigeria, what have the Nigerian people done against it. When have we carried placards to say cultism must end.
What have you yourself done against cultism?
So suddenly out of the blues, you expect cultism will get any better when it is becoming a prerequisite in the Entertainment industry and political offices? Can you name 5 top reigning male musicians in Nigeria who aren't frat members?
You cannot expect to reap fruits when much effort by the people/government has not been invested against cultism.
I am being realistic not pessimistic. Have a nice day

If the govt. is not doing anything, then talk to the people around you to shun cultism, is that too much to ask?

There's the NPF Anti-cultism unit, if they're not doing enough, do an article about their activities and how they can improve. If it makes sense - like this thread- people will talk about it & you can never tell where it leads. Someone started #EndSARS

Criticism is the easiest thing to do. Even a three year old can criticize. Complaining all the time puts you up as a basic. A lot of you know so much about cultism but can not tell where the anti-cultism unit is in Lagos. Shows the side you're on.

How many times have you called the police to give info about cultists in your area? Anonymously of course. Some would even call them to run when the police arrive.

You lot sit & drink with brazen cultists. A lot of you are close friends with known robbers & kidnappers but have it in you to still criticize govt.

You ask the govt. to do a thing, then you make it impossible.
