The mindset issue o

It's very very problematic for us

Hope we will break free one day

There are no structure in place
No safety net
Every man for himself

Dog eat dog

So after hustling sweat and blood
.and I accumulate a small portfolio of N26.7m

You expect that person to be adventurous?

When there is high risk of losing it all?...

And no mild credit facilities (the banks credit here is killing )

So what do you want em to do

The indian have access to credit

First problem of that mindset is religion. Very huge problem if you ask me.

excess liquidity is the issue and not forgetting our rubber stamp Senate that has been approving quite a number of huge foreign loans ...like everyone is saying, one has to venture into one of these industries..these rates may not edge up till when it's time to pay back those foreign loans...I want to see how our government will rob peter (collect foreign loan again) to pay paul( offset existing foriegn loans)
FG is playing out some tricky moves with this ridiculously poor TB rates, while piling up external debt. I tell you when the time comes all these foreign loans wont be paid back. We have been through this same gimmick before by embarking on aggressive debt cancellation/forgiveness. Hence they rather pile up external loans than increase TB rates

Gbenga Oyebode is married to the daughter of the late head of state General Muritala Mohammed, this doesn't mean that the gentleman was not qualified for the deal he closed for big businesses in corporate Nigeria.
Someone defined luck as when opportunities meet preparation.

This is a young man who graduated from Ife 41 years ago at the age of 20, left law school 40 years ago at the age of 21. Got a Master degree in Business law from the University of Pennsylvania 38 years ago at the age of 23. Got a Post graduate certificate in Business Management from Harvard University.

Qualified and got license to practice law in New York. Worked as an attorney with a law firm in New York for a year, worked in the legal department at Chevron Headquarters in Huston Texas for 3 years.

Came back to Nigeria in 1986, together with Ajumogobia, Okeke and Aluko set up a Commercial law firm. Until he left in 1992 to co-found Oyebode and Aluko chamber which is about the biggest multi disciplinary Commercial law chamber in Nigeria with core competencies in Oil and Gas, Energy, Foreign Direct Investment, Capital Market, Aviation, Project finance, Privatisation, Maritime, Telecommunication etc.

He is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association, American Bar Association, International Bar Association. For many years he was the chairman of the Business law section of the Nigeria Bar Association.

He is a member of the Advisory board of Johannesburg Stock Exchange, award national honours by Nigerian and Belgian government. Former Chairman of Crusader Insurance, Access Bank, former director of MTN. Current chairman of Okomu Oil and Rubber, CFAO and other companies.

With his pedigree as a member of Johannesburg Stock Exchange, it is certain that he will be the preferred Corporate lawyer for South Investors and companies that are newly coming into the country or already in the country eg ShopRite, Multi Choice, Promasidor, Broll Property, Stanbic IBTC etc.

With his work experience in the US, he will be the preferred Corporate lawyer for American Businesses in Nigeria.

For him to breeze through school like this, it means he had people that were footing the education bills. If anybody has such straight path and still end up being poor in life, then there is the need for questions to be asked.

Recently i made N1.3m interest within 2 months doing nothing, this same amount i would have to wait one year with fixed bonds capital of N13m to generate that interest. In another 2 months i will make another 1.3m doing almost nothing, short term investment is a key to wealth multiplication.
Please share, which instrument or business is this?

Nothing is too big to fail. If Nigeria was a fortune 500 company, it won't make top 100 and some of those companies go bankrupt every now and then. If the numbers don't add up, it will fail and that's what is happening with Nigeria.

Are they really serious about the exchange rate unification?
If I remember correctly, it was one of the requirements the IMF gave for their loan - perhaps they want to pay lip service to that.
Will be interesting to watch the CBN wean itself off its much-beloved multiple exchange rate system.

That is what the IMF has been advocating.
We are shortchanging ourselves with multiple exchange rates.

How does the export process work?
My fear is that they have stringent regulations there that you are completely at their mercy in terms of who defines if a product meets specs or not and ultimately your payment.
What are the bottlenecks and possible pitfalls?

To me I think if you can be patient to wait for TBs to mature after one year, then you can do official export.
First stage is sampling, you first send the buyer what he wants via UPS and the likes so that you guys can finalise on quality and all that at this stage.
Since as it is your first time to sell to the buyer,e go open LC for the trade.
This LC na collateral from his bank to secure your money,so that he can't abandon the goods at the ports or take your goods and don't pay.
That is if the buyer no pay you,his bank will pay you and later collect the money from him with force.
It's your security.
Then you will register with NEPC so as to complete your NXP folder that contains a host of documents and gives you the go ahead to export.
Nigeria registrations na just money,no much bureaucracy as they don't even check undecided All they want is money undecided
When you and your buyer conclude and he opens LC,you contact shipper for container, buy and load and take to the ports and hand the bill of lading shipper give you to your bank and your bank will forward it to buyer's bank that will give to buyer for clearing. cool
Now you guys will agree on your contract when he is to pay and his bank will be aware.
When the time reach and you no see your bread, just contact your bank and your bank will contact his and you will get your money almost immediately.
But if you guys start do business for long and trust enters, you won't need this no more as you already know him and where to find him if he fùcks up.
You are not at the buyer's mercy at all, unless you load something else different from the sample you guys agreed on,so take plenty pictures of everything you do as proof for any future argument.

They recycle them there, and creatively too, but I gather the Turkish government wants to reduce or ban imports of foreign plastic waste, just like China and Malaysia have done.

They do, but they're among the largest plastics processors in the world and the recycling facilities want already separated and sorted plastic waste.
