This is the most useless post I have ever seen on nairaland.
Wont the pressure to score the penalty be more in the last stages of the shoot out. So messi fans after hailing and praising dybala as being far better than ronaldo in Juventus, will still look for a way to blame ronaldo for dybala miss..
This is life can sometimes be harsh

Rubbish. If he is the first that takes it and scores but Juve loses, they will complain that he ought to have been the last to take it. If if takes it and he did not score, they will say the same thing

Naaah I disagree with this, it's usually the standard by most clubs to put in their star striker as the last penalty taker during shootouts. It's usually weighed based on the players' capabilities.

Besides they're all rated as the first best penalty takers and if the shootout spill over to the next round, the second best round of 5 players take the stage. The other players would've found it demeaning to be asked to step aside for Ronaldo to take a kick earlier than he was scheduled for.

obembet:
Cristiano Ronaldo has received a whole lot of criticism after he didn't step up to take a penalty in the Coppa Italia final shoot-out defeat to Napoli.

Despite seeing a spot-kick saved in his return to action in the semi-final against AC Milan, Ronaldo is comfortably Juventus' best penalty taker and is normally immune to pressure in the big moments.

But the five-time Ballon d'Or winner didn't even get to take one last night.

Both Paulo Dybala and Danilo missed from 12 yards while Napoli scored all four through Lorenzo Insigne, Matteo Politano, Nikola Maksimovic and Arkadiusz Milik - the latter putting away the winner to secure Gennaro Gattuso's first trophy.
And many believe Ronaldo didn't take a penalty because he wanted to be fifth on the list and ultimately the hero - something which has happened in the past.
Juventus had won the Coppa Italia three years in a row prior to Ronaldo's arrival, while Napoli's win brought a first trophy in six seasons at the San Paolo.

Is it fair grounds to criticise Ronaldo or is reaching a bit?

Sound off in the comments.

English FA is trying to start what they can not finish...................... From writing an inscription of "black lives matter" (a political inscription of a far left U.S Democrat) at the back of players jersey to forcing all players to take a knee (a political symbol), ..... According to FIFA law, political symbol and messages no matter how good it is should never be mixed with football, neither should any political message nor symbol be written on players jersey, that football belongs to all irrespective of your side of opinion.

It would have been better for English FA to used "say no to racism" than for them to use "black lives matter" (a political message) in premier league,....... Infact it would have been so perfect if the NHS was written in place of "black lives matter" in order to pay tribute to doctors who are currently at the Frontline saving lives of others and losing their own lives .............. Also it would have been much better for them to say that taking a knee should be optional rather than being compulsory for all players............. mixing football with politics is a very dangerous acts.............. infact FA should immidiately apologize for banning the use of poppy (a figure that seeks to honour world war 2 fallen hero soldiers) on players jerseys, because it is also for a noble cause ............................................. I wouldn't be surprised if players from now henceforth start to displays political figures and messages about various oppressive regime and evil act committed by their various government in their singlet and displaying them during matches (they will be justified in doing so, because it is also about a noble cause of freedom)......... I hope this will not bring about double standard, since political freedom messages can be express, I believe that no one should be denied freedom of expressing his own freedom political message.
And forcing everyone to kneel irrespective of their opinion is bad for a global fundamental human rights of freedom of taught and expression................... Football is a game for all (whether white, black, brown, purple etc) and the message displayed should be inclusive to all races,... Not pitting one race against another.............. AS FOR ME, "all lives matter"

Very impressive piece!

In their finals against Liverpool, Madrid won but Ronaldo didn't celebrate with his teammates simply because he didn't score. He was looking sad throughout.

Not his fan, but I wont blame him for this.

In most cases, the best penalty takers take last.

It doesn’t have anything to do with narcissism.

Football has barely even started, and the media has already begun to stir hate. Ronaldo is always their favourite target.

You can't please everyone. People like that should simply be ignored
If he had taken the first or second penalty, then Dybala and Danilo lost theirs eventually, people would still talk

He lost his last penalty and was probably not confident enough.
Also the last penalty is very decisive too because of tensions

Another thing people forget is teams don't just go out there and do whatever they like. Something must have happened in the training or maybe the coach's instructions

PS; All this is not a defense for Ronaldo. Juve and Cr7 were lacklustre yesterday.

To me, Sarri is clueless!
yup...i kno sarri seems clueless bt i think he is miles ahead of gattusso dt ac milan dumped early dis year...pls leave sarri out of that defeat..

I am an unrepentant Messi fan to the backbone! However, it’s unfortunate that so many people are unnecessarily being too harsh on Ronaldo. He is undoubtedly one of the best players that has graced the football pitch. Cut him all the slack!

Football is a game of luck sometimes and not all the time do you find yourself winning. This is just another losing streak for Ronaldo. He has to cope with it.

Without mincing words, Messi is undoubtedly all round player with no match (My opinion) but you must respect Ronaldo’ tenacity, resilience and persistence in this soccer game. He has conjured a name for himself at 35 years yet still at the limelight.

Ronaldo is a good player but my piece is not to compare him with Messi. Don’t be too harsh on him. We aren’t all the same though. Remember how he had stepped up in big matches in time past.

Modified: Some of you hid past questions and materials back then in school just to come up on top. This is just an ugly replica of it in another version.

Messi all the way!

Penalties can go either way. Even if Ronaldo takes the first penalty, it's not enough to guarantee victory for his side, since others will still take theirs. There is no guarantee that anytime he takes one, he will score....these guys are humans abeg

Of course Ronaldo is the most selfish footballer ever. He doesn't contribute to team play, always waiting for tap-in and penalty, let's not forget that he blames his teammates when things go bad.

The only reason he keeps jumping from one club to another is because of his selfish aims,he wants to prove that he can do it all without his teammates which is no true.
he is doing It though
