Tobiloba2407:Engines kept warm or engines kept on? I can understand pilots on alert kitting up, jumping in their planes and turning on the engine in preparation for being asked within a few minutes to straff the enemy when there's a battle going on somewhere. But that is usually not how alerts are done. If I remember correctly, the pilot on alert sits in the cockpit with an external power source running the air conditioning and system units, but with the engines kept OFF. I haven't ever heard of pilots on alert starting engines and keeping them on just cos a situation might develop somewhere, mainly cos that goes through fuel like mad. But then the fact that I haven't heard about it does not mean it doesn't happen, but common sense dictates otherwise. |

Nigerian army and the Airforce repelled an attack killing more than 30 BH fighters.. You guys started with the army is always repelling, they should take the war to bokoharam like you weren't on this thread March, April, May. You moved to Airforce was the only one that did the job, no BH guys died from bullets fired by the army but most of the pictures proved otherwise. Then you went to, Airforce was late to the party. And now to the Chadians. How you guys always try to downplay the military is just incredible. |

jpphilips:There is a lot more than just does not add up on a General salary. Maybe as head of procurement you get additional increments that have enabled him to acquire assets in Billions of naira. I really do not know but l wonder if his children go to school in Nigeria. Because l know so many senior officers who thier children go to school in the UK. The school fees and accommodation costs etc exceed thier entire annual salary in the military. The evidence against Burutai is bewildering and very damming but absolutely nothing has been done or said. By PMB who is supposedly fighting corruption. You should know very well the procurement of second hand vehicles for the army that had to be refurbished at army expense before they could be used. But were classed as brand new. And you are here defending the indefensible, that says a lot about you and your purposes.

youghs:Maybe you have low expectations and as such your unit of measurement borders on mediocrity and you perceive failings as success. It's like when a governor decides to repair a road that should have been repaired donkey years ago and NEVER EVER have fallen into disrepair in the first place. We commend with praise and eulogies. I am sorry but l simply have different expectations from you, I don't commend mediocrity. |

Home Airforce 1. The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and immobilized one of their gun trucks at Bula Korege, a terrorists’ logistics distribution centre and meeting point, on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. This feat was achieved via air strikes executed on 17 June 2020 as part of missions being conducted under the subsidiary Operation LONG REACH after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft spotted a large number of BHT fighters and a gun truck within the settlement. Consequently, the Air Task Force scrambled its fighter jets to attack the location. 2. Upon arrival overhead the settlement, the NAF jets engaged the target area, taking out some structures and neutralizing some of the terrorists. The gun truck, while retreating from the location due to the strong firepower from the air, began engaging the attack aircraft with its anti-aircraft gun. However, the jets, after conducting evasive maneuvers, tracked the vehicle and subsequently immobilized it a few kilometres outside the village. The occupants of the truck, who attempted to flee, were mopped-up in follow-on attacks by the fighter jets. 3. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commends the ATF for their dedication and professionalism. The Defence Headquarters equally urge them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all other criminal elements in the country. rka[b]2:French forces are in Sub Saharan Africa under Operation Barkhan which in itself emanated from operation Serval. What's the mission focus of the French operation and the support of the EU nations which is predominantly logistical is to complement that mission. French forces complement partner countries of the G5 Sahel if avaliable and if considered necessary. They do not underpin thier operations. Since Operation Serval in 2013 that essentially wiped out the Islamic Jihadists in the Maghreb in a couple of weeks. How many French combatants have been killed ❓ ❓ To date 46 French soldiers have been killed since January 2013 over a period of 7 years ➕. Everything can not be air assets and air force required. French forces engage with the enemy on the ground but not relying on air power primarily. I asked this question before, how many times has ISWAP and it's affiliates attempted to ambush or had any success against French soldiers. Have you heard of any French and or European combatants base been attacked over run ❓ Why I wonder why? ❓ Mali combatants have enough equipment to engage the enemy but somehow they end up with heavy casualties. WHY ❓ France can not legislate for the incompetence of its partner countries poor battlefield management and or take responsibility for thier inability to deal with the enemy. You are evading the subject at its core with irrelevant comparisons . We are talking about Monguno and that specific situation that took place there. Appraise that particular incident and stop evading the core subject please. You sound like a PR officer for the Armed forces, trying to clean up a mess, but doing a poor job of it. You have not mentioned one substantive fact with regard to NAF response times you have been assumptive not factual. A Vickers MBT tank and other lethal armoured assets were abandoned and subsequently destroyed by the enemy, they were not used to engage the enemy, WHY the core question ❓❓ ❓ There is no excuse we have reliable Intel that those assets were operational. The NA have the equipment and should have capacity to deal with a hundred or so rag tag ISWAP fighters in not more than 15/20 gun trucks. My expectations are that they should never have been able to get into the town in the first place. Anything that happened afterwards was damage limitation. There is nothing COMMENDABLE about the reponse prior and or afterwards. |

komekn:You know problem with Nigerians they aren't always satisfied. If The military hadn't done anything in Monguno They'll talk,Now they countered attack and Gave them a bloody nose they still find fault saying NAF didn't respond on time, Despite that fact NAF still eliminated their run-away gang if a 100% came for that attack 90% didn't go back alive... Now you claim France has been fighting Insurgency for 7yrs with 46 casualties on how many fronts have they fought or Lemme say is the situation compared to what's in Nigeria, France operation and deployment in SSA is supposed to help but nah it ain't helping Dozens of Malian Soilders Where killed in An Ambush 2Weeks ago. Not to talk of the strings of attacks on Niger army since late last year |

From watching the last couple of videos published by the NAF i assume the tactic is to drop bombs on abandoned settlements that house terrorists and then engaging those elements fleeing the area with more precise rockets. |

Toju200:Do you have a problem admitting that the response at Monguno isn't impressive. First, we lost soldiers, 2ndly AHQ provided equipment that would deal with the threat & future threats presently torched by the enemy, depriving NA gallant men & women future response capabilities. Repelling an attack at the cost of important equipment & lives of soldiers isn't a sensible benchmark for measuring success. Im sure you agree at least. |

It seems the doctrine of our Airforce has gone from reactionary to offensive, we are seeing more air interdiction work by our airforce on bokoharam in the south. The problems is that ISWAP in the north have their logistics in lake chad in Chadian territory. We have to make the "handshake" between the two difficult. We need to give ISWAP an "itch",that is, a super base that constantly harasses them with artillery, forcing them further away from our border thereby isolating BH. |

IMO Gen.olonisiakin is one of the worst CDS in our history. If people like Gen.muritala,Gen.khobe see this present generation of military commanders? They will bury their heads in shame. |
