Dangote cement plant obajana aim at sacking 10,000 staffs at the end of this month.

Few weeks back Alh AliKO Dangote had a meeting with the regional manager of Obajana cement factory in which he told him to proceed the sacking of about 10000 staffs.

The regional manager by name Mr Carlos refused to comply insisting that those staff have a family to feed and in this covid-19 period things aren't going to be easy for them if they get terminated( This Mr Carlos is a white man and I can say he's got sense more than us that call ourselves brothers )

Fast forward to last week Saturday hajiya Halimat Dangote ( Dangote's daughter) flew to obajana on a private jet unannounced. She went to meet Mr Carlos telling him that her dad told him to carry out a job and he refused also threatening him that if he don't carry out his job he's gonna be the first person to get sacked.

I don't blame her because she probably don't know what we are going through, what it means to work ur ass off and at the end off the month receiving a meager salary.

She then commanded Carlos to start the termination immediately. That was the first time I see an elderly crying .

Because she left that day about 205 staffs have been sacked .

The federal government aren't helping matters and now the private sectors are doing same .

My saving is just above 300,000 naira though we are going to be paid our basic salary for three months . please Nairalanders , what business can I start with that amount of money .

To Hajiya Halimat Dangote , you owns your father company , it aren't mine ours but remember that there is God .

May God help us

You can start selling raw food stuffs like grains.
Rice , beans, millet, corn, palm oil, groundnut oil shorgum, maize, ... They are fast moving... The good thing about it is, you just need a shop anywhere and people will come.

That's what I intend to start too but I currently lack the resources to pull that off. 250k will be enough to start
And don't let anybody tell you it's a woman's job. Goodluck

Op I sympathize with you but you know Dangote is a business man and he is in business to make as much as possible. Also He doesn't want to loose all he worked for. In business there is no sentiment. Is only in government jobs that there is element of human face. That's why we need restructuring. If you were working for someone from your state who believes that you are also a partaker in the business it would be hard to sack you but in capitalism is all about how to use people to achieve your aim.

U can invest that money in a forex firm that gives 15% to 17% (51k) every month 6 months. Which means at the end of 6 months, u will have another 306k alongside the 300k capital which they will give u back. Total becomes 606k. U can decide to roll all or half as choose till u get to ur target amount for another 6 months while u use the 3 months basic salary they will give you. Apologies on your plight, but u can't quit now. I pray God keeps u strong.
