He isn't a sea lord.
No ban sea lord will do what he has done.
No sea lord will make nonsense of Ricca Ricardo ( Bolaji Carew).
He is revered in BAN.
I repeat no active sea lord will make nonsense of Bolaji Carew.

It's just a coincidence.

Did the oppression stop after you joined? If yes,
why do you think it stopped? Was your aim of joining ( to fight oppression) isn't in itself an embracement of violence and murderous tendencies because that would be the only thing that could make your oppressors stopped
Blessedaredweak:

I was inied into nbm 2013, nobody forced me, I asked for it because I was constantly oppressed back in school,I was an atheist then and still is.....if an atheist goes to church does that make him believe in god? its exactly the same thing.

and for those hypocrite that hang around the thread only to swear, accuse innocent people and wish people death.......yes some people got involved in killing but have in mind a considerable amount of people back then weren't killers,or rapist or thieves, I laugh whenever people say those things......I am not going to mention the school but the movement was very serious about thieving and rape, nobody even dared rape because the punishment 4 that was so drastic u might die.

they couldn't even get me to smoke, till date I don't smoke and I hardly drink and I am a good person......those lurkers who are without sin can come out and cast as many stones as they like but the fact is you or anyone else is not better than me.

Here is a fact,"You did what u did " most people are evil because they want to be not because anyone made them be....there's always a choice.

Honestly, ndoeyopbennet atk1nson just like many others before him, is right. Your research is not totally unrelated to the discuss but it adds too little to it. It waters it down a great deal & provides a leeway for people with ulterior moves to derail the thread.

The amount of people who have pointed to this fact is unusual & that shouldnt go without your notice. You're a researcher & I'm sure you appreciate the value of feedback.

What you're doing is great but how about you create a thread for this research, where you can dump all your stuff & even attract your own crowd of like minds. Rather than doing that here and alienating the readers.

Every day there's an argument on this thread about your work. Which makes it kind of counter productive to the mission of the OP as much of that energy could have been pulled into & in furtherance of the subject of the thread.

Your membership & contribution on the thread is valuable; its just the part that has to do with your work.
I disagree with your view. What he's posting is very related to the purpose for which OP set up the thread. To know and demystify these groups.

Erayo is also a NBM word which means fire. Probably was borrowed from NBM since they also started in same Benin.

You are correct. Erayo means fire.. If erayo no dey CP no go dey. Na one of axemen tongues and many more.. Erayo ___ fire (chants)

ndoeyopbennet:
Remember Great man, when you pledged to the phire in your hands
When you promised never to burn what is not to be burned
When you joined Godfather in turning water into wine
When the green bible was given to you with solemnity
When your Omni brothers welcomed you with Mgbada
When KTFB became your sole watchword
When your CV was given to you by the General
OMNI GONGO sounded in your ears.

The first line of the above echoes the initiation and oath taking events which I have mentioned before. The second line establishes what is called "illegal burning" in Maphites. In NAS, members are said to "bark", in BAN and SVC, members are said to "cap", etc. In Maphite, members "burn". So by "burning what is not meant to be burned", you would have committed an office and you will undergo "bashing" or torture because you've become what they call a "suegbe".

The act of GF "turning water into wine" refers to the traditional drink of the Maphite. They call it "naco". It is a strong alcoholic drink whose exact composition depends on who is making it. Sometimes, hard drugs may even be added.

The "green bible" is the handbook of the cult. Members are supposed to be given one after initiation. The handbook documents their cult culture orientation, exco officers, rites, etc.

The "Mgbada" used in the fifth line above refers to their secret handshake which sometimes involves tilting the palm backward so that the bottom of the palm touches the palm of the other member (as if both palms are in a supplicatory state). This handshake makes it appear as it they are carry fire in their hands.

"KTFB" means "keep the flame/fire/phlame/phire burning". It is a frequently used expression and it establishes a major crux of the cult.

"CV" is used in the poem to mean "cove name". This is the equivalent of deck name in BAN. The cove names are usually preceded with "Omni" and what follows can be from various sources. You have cove names like Omni Terror, Omni Alpha, Omni Wickedness, Omni Green Devil, Omni Sicilian Disciple, etc etc. The "Omni" is usually pronounced as "Omi" without the "n".

Omni Gongo or Omi Gongo seems to be a cult-culture chant like Aye Axemen, Alora Sealords, Arrow Mates (Aromate), Haba Krier Airlords, etc etc.

Thanks for demystifying cultism. Whoever started the maphite cult must have been well exposed to the Italian Mafia. The burning of a paper in their hand is part of their initiation ritual. Saw this in the Sopranos TV series.

Well, that may not be exactly right. 'Saynotocultism' and other contributors may have demystified cultism , but their intent was to discourage others from joining such fraternities by relating real life experiences detailing the evils such groups cause to youths and society at large.

@ndoeyopbennet demystification has no bearing to what the thread intends to achieve (to discourage cultism), his posts are theoretical and sometimes portray such groups as being intelligent and organised inventions which may inspire camaraderie or create some attractions to such groups.

No doubt his work has some value in providing insights into cultism, but is actually derailing the purpose of the thread. He can create a thread to carter for those interested in learning theories about cult groups.

Anyone reading from page 1 can clearly see a pattern a derailment , some deliberately by those who don't want the evil of their cult groups out in the open to keep it marketable to ignorant youths, and some ignorantly supporting such.

As always, everyone is entitled to their opinion on this and I'm not joining issues with anyone.

Someone here said Bolaji Carew was a man of higher intelligence, that his IQ is way higher than normal, that he invented the nyben language but that RESEARCHER exposed the method that was copied, he demystified the notion that Dr. Bolaji Carew was the creator of the cipher. Ok. You are right, the debate about it is good. The proper demistification will be when the Government decides to look at it, or secondly, time and other violent groups could erode their influence. Remember, the drive towards renounciation after Obasanjo's regime decided to erode their power in campuses after Africa's case in OAU? It's public knowledge ,Some cult groups didn't hold meetings for close to a year during that period.
Till then however, all knowledge about them is welcome since it will bring them out of the underground, where they lurk and strive. Then no body can say I was naive to join.

Anyone who has carefully gone through this thread will observe the likes of saynotocultism, monicar and others I can't recall, faced strong opposition and open threats from several cultists on this thread because their message served the purpose of discouraging cultism.

On the other hand, ndoeyopbennet posts have gone largely unchallenged by this same cultist on the thread because it unintentionally served to portray cultism as organised and civilised.

Any well discerning person can clearly see though both parties address the issue of cultism, they create opposite effects. Hence its actually more reasonable for him to create his own thread rather than destroy the purpose of this one.

It was because he has something new to offer, from a new dimension.
If an organisation holds something or a secret at high esteem and it get exposed or demystified, then that should tell you that the downfall of that organisation is close.

Reading from page 1, the purpose of the thread is to discourage cultism by ex-cultist sharing their experience in these fraternities. Many other ex-cultist have also taken ops cue and shred their experience.

@ndoeyopbennet purpose clearly differs from this thread. If he wants to conduct a research or wants people to review his academic works in cultism, he should be reasonable enough to create a separate thread. Except his intention is to derail the thread like some cultists have been trying hard to.
How his he derailing the thread,is it by bringing a new perspective ??
He never said he want any one to review is academic work,we asked for it and he gave us the answer.

@ndoeyopbennet, pls don't let anybody discourage u, I personally think u av done better than anyone on this thread.

last thing a cult will sell to u is its secrecy, that's where their power lies in, if their secrets is a way of portraying themselves as organised and civilized. then they will do it themselves, they don't need anyone to do it for them......u won't see such anywhere else. whats a cult without secrets

if u think his work is receiving zero criticism, that's because they are all dumbfounded and over angry and don't know how to even start, but come to think about it, we can't say he's receiving zero criticism when u are criticizing, its damn suspicious. u sound just like the people that u are talking about just a lil bit more civilized.

This is to acknowledge and appreciate all the support I've received concerning my posts. I hold no grudge for those who think my posts are out of place. We are all here for different reasons but no matter what, the central idea is that cults are bad and no one should join them. If you're already a member, you should change your ways and help solve the menace by telling us your experience. One way to remove the power and allure of cultism is to demystify the cults. Another way is to show or tell us the dangerous realities of the cults. As long as people no longer feel the need to join the cults, we would have achieved something. I am now tempted to even unveil other groups that haven't received ample attention here. I also appreciate those who added to what I wrote on the Maphites. Nothing is too small in the learning industry.

For those who think my ideas should be on a new thread, I really don't think it's a good idea. I'm very inconsistent in the frequency of my posts and creating a new thread would be counterproductive. Besides, I'm also here to learn even though I may have a few things to share. This thread may never go moribund because people are always coming to share their experiences and others are coming to learn from them too. I think this is the best place to share what I have. If anyone also thinks I'm making the cults appear interesting in any way, then you should really check yourself. You can't pin that on me at all, especially after all the #saynotocultism posts here. How I present the cults in my analysis is a reflection of my depth of understanding, not the intellectual nature of the cults (if they even have any serious intellectual background to reckon with).

@savageage15: Would you be willing to answer two or three questions about Maphites as a member/former member?
