Anxiety Looms In The Air Over Plan To Disengage 500,000 N Power Beneficiaries by Truflame: 11:33am On Jun 21, 2020
Like a scene from a nightmare, N power beneficiaries across the nation are shocked by FG plan to disengage them in few months away from now.

An empty feeling of gloomy depression assailed the beneficiaries. Comments on social media alone threw light on the bruised ego of dedicated graduates.

What is the hope of an average graduate in Nigeria? Must he toil and struggle for years to be employable and only to be helplessly abandoned to whatever threatens him at the end?

How long will this vicious cycle continue? When are we going to break free from this cruel and dark hopelessness!

Millions of unemployed graduate are already roaming the street. No hope for the future and are utterly denied of a means of livelihood. The question on our mind: Are we joining the army of unemployed graduates? Will the much anticipated transition promised by FG offers a job rewarding satisfaction or is it just a sham?

Graduates who have built family around the #30,000 stipend are already overwhelmed by the thought of being left alone without financial incentive. I pray that the rate of suicide will not sky rocketed in coming weeks!

Many are frightened by the subtle thought that keeps echoing in their mind, "So, I will finally stop going for my PPA and also denied of serving in my community !"

"How do I explain to friends and well wishers who may curiously want to find out why I'm now sitting idle at home," they pondered.

They asked, "What will people around me feels?"

Self esteem will painfully be affected and many will try to escape from this reality by drinking and indulging in substance abuse. Worse scenario is an army of addict who may fuel the danger of insecurity and social vices!

Of course, the program says 2 years from the start but we should not forget that human needs transcends print on papers. The plight of people alone should awaken the humanity in us. Terms and conditions on papers will not feed them.

As a matter of urgency, the relevant stakeholders should work with greater synergy at helping the N power graduates get a meaningful employment.

Bandits, street urchins, and worse of all Boko Haram terror activities are products of unemployment. We don't need an army of unemployed graduate on the street anymore. We don't want to experience nightmare.

The national assembly and the entire government ministries and agencies should declare a state of emergency on the plight of these youth.

We are facing a national crisis!
