Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has announced that the Federal Government has awarded the Akure - Ikere Road connecting Ondo and Ekiti states for dualisation. This came after the Federal Executive Council e-meeting held yesterday which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Akeredolu, who disclosed this via his verified twitter account, could not hide his excitement about the new development.

In his tweet, "Great news from FEC today. The contract for the expansion of the Akure to Ikere road has been awarded. Looking forward to seeing the positive impact on our States my brother @kfayemi."

In another tweet, Governor Akeredolu said the new development is coming after several meetings between Ondo and Ekiti States government with the Federal Government and also securing funds from African Development Bank (AFDB) to add to the Federal Government's contribution.

"This has come from both our States holding meetings with the President, VP and Minister for works and also securing funding from AFDB to augment FG's contribution. It is a great example of both States working together for the people."

Good news if genuine. That road linking the two states is one of the worst in the country. Thought Buhari and Fasola Had abandoned Ekiti, no Federal presence at all.
