Lol. It is actually funny. There was a research carried out in Lagos with findings that average salary for bachelor's degree holder is 54k.

It is good to dream big but should be realistic. We really need to be saying all these so people don't run into depression with some unrealistic expectations.

some of you are simply mad for following money blindly !
you complain of low income. 62k every month with health insurance. so in a month transport is around 5k, you have 57k to do as you like. your income is good. many will want to be in your shoes with low transport expenditure. tell your family members to also look for work.

i know some people that complain of their work and when you ask where dey live. they tell you lekki. i laugh. lekki is for rich people that can afford paying tolls. why you wan move around like a rich man when you are not? your transport expense go burn like candle on your manageable income. dont chase money blindly.

Mr, the fire is not about chasing money but seeing my future with that organization.

There is no future there and I cannot stay wasted there.

There has always been a burning desire to go into street. I don't live like a rich man and 62k goes no where. After taking out transport and you are left with 57k, with normal stipend to drop for your mom what will the remaining 47k do for you?

How much will.you save, and how much will you eat with? How long will you continue to calculate before you eat or how long will you continue with such lifestyle to start a family?

Think. If you are comfortable with poverty not everyone is.

As long as it is not a multinational private firm my brother there is no future there.

I have quit that job and I have entered street. Far far away from my comfort zone. Like I said, my destiny is in my hand. If I perish I perish but I know I won't perish.

Thank God you have a side hustle that is internet-based. If only our youths in Nigeria are not mentally lazy, everything they need is on the internet. I stopped working for anybody since 2017 and I have not looked back.

I am building my business and the projected income for December 2020 is frightening. Recently, I decided to replicate the success of my business by taking over my wife's account and managing it. I started managing the account in March 2020, the pandemic dealt a thorough blow on sales between April and May, but see what the account has brought in this month in the image attached. This is just three months of smart work. You can check my other post to see what my own account brought in. NOTE: I stopped posting my earnings online for security reasons and I didn't attach it intimidate you or anyone, but to let you understand the power of internet-based business. I scaled up with my wife's account so fast because of four years of experience, so it was very easy to replicate it. These things don't just happen overnight. It is a result of the continuous development of one's self in what they have passion for.

Now, let me advise you, don't just quit your job, have a time frame where you will dedicate as much effort to your online business as you have for your job say from now till February 2021, within this period, try to save up money that can sustain your feeding for 7months. Buy food in bulk, bags of rice, beans and other non-perishable staples. Then by the end of March 2021, quit. Within this time frame, draw out your action plan to scale up your online business, watch all the youtube videos that will help you master the business and scale fast. Ensure you focus on the business without anyone distracting you. Don't jump from one business to the other no matter what, stay on the business you are doing and have passion for, until it starts paying you. When you quit, don't look for any other job, focus on your online business. Finally, draw close to God, pray fast and ask God for favor in the business, trust me the Holy Spirit will reveal so much hidden info to help you. As hard as this sound to some people, it still remains the number one principal thing to grow financially - Pay your tithe as the business is bringing in the money, 10% is for God. It is my Spiritual insurance and it has not failed since 2017.

God help you as you take this life-changing decision.

Hmmmm

It's a good thing u are'nt satisfied being a contract staff.
Even better u have an online biz as backup.

I don't know if u are the career type of person
OR
A business oriented person.

If u are business oriented person ask urself questions like :
1. Where do u see ur online business in 2-5yrs time
2. Are u ready to stick by the business no matter the challenge u face during the teething period?

If u aren't strong emotionally, going fully into ur business might bring regrets. And once u regret starting a business, it means u are left with zero zeal.

I personally chose business and investment over paid employment cos of my old age.
I will rather keep making money myself than waiting for stipends(pension).

But before u resign from ur job, kindly make sure ur online business is grounded and yielding exellent returns.
Don't resign to start your business if you don't have up to 15 paying clients. My job left me during the pandemic and I already had my business as a side business but my client base was big . Infact I was planning on leaving but fear of the unknown was the issue. Now i make more than my salary every month. Though I have returning customers with yearly subscription and they also refer other businesses to me.

I never countered any of these 3 points raised. Well paying banks retain the best talents and it is evident in their annual returns. Minimum wage setting is the duty of the govt (how much does govt pay its level 8 graduates?) and commercial banks pay all their staff above the recommended minimum wage.

Contract staffs who bring good business usually get better offers or get poached by other organizations. Knowing how to project your self to the organisation and ensuring no one appropriates what you laboured for is part of being smart.

I always tell contract staffs to see the job as a bridge. Once you settle and start building your future and family on it, you are creating issues for yourself. I have recruited contract staffs and I have mentored many of them into becoming core staff through conversion exercises. Some have moved to other institutions. The last one who worked with me in in Canada and doing very well. We talk on weekly basis.

Protecting the weak is part if emotional intelligence. If you make your contract staff feel like second class staff, their productivity will dip. That people do it doesnt make it right. My institution has a whistle blowing policy. Jerk behavior has sacked many managers. I cannot increase their pay but I help them grow competencies required to excel.

That it is most likely that You are earning more than Me makes Me laugh. What do you know about me?? I wonder how you came up with that. Chest beating Moreover, how is that related to this discussion It is a faceless forum anyway.

I had to chip that in so you don't think I'm a contract staff hence my defense of them. You Nigerians have a funny way of thinking.

You don't have to be in their shoes to feel their pain.

I don start since.

That contract job thing is a faux and I won't advise anyone I know to do it. Years back, I went for an interview for a bank contract job. When I realized it was contract, I wasn't really keen on it. And the interviewer who happened to be my senior in secondary school and he told me not to take the job but to try to get a full staff position if I wanted to work in a bank.

I pushed to get a job in a bank as a full staff and I understood what he meant because I worked with contract staff. They were also graduates like me but I earned more than double their salary and they worked under me.

Sometimes, the situation of things could be unfavourable but it is important to aspire for more

good luck to you. just dont join yahoo-yahoo boys. all these boys are in their 20s and 30s chasing money blindly. its like these people that become slaves in libya trying to go to europe. they know war dey libya but they still go, and only get worse results if not alive. some go with newborn babies. they suppose to publicly flog those types of people.

this way of thinking is not the same way our parents used to think, and i still dont see the skill contribution from these types of thinking. in other words, where are the big startups?
do you realise you are not the only one thinking of his or her future within the organisation? everyone wants to be in charge, but how many can keep the ship afloat? is it a must you must give your mom 10k as stipend every month? can't you give her on adhoc basis as you have?
good luck. hope things turn out good.

I'm a contract staff too and know how it feels. I think it's all about setting goals for yourself, how long do you want to be there for, then works towards it.

You already have a business, find a balance between the two and ensure your business is growing too. Also, see yourself as an applicant and never stop applying for better jobs.

Don't quit your job yet unless you have a better sustainable means of income. Stay woke smiley

I feel their pain, that is why I invest so much time into training all those who work with me. I also grant them time off the job so they can further their education.

I am a proud Nigerian and I love the Nigerian way of doing things. It may be funny to you....but, who cares??

Yeah. It's not a crime or shame to earn 50k but it is important to note that there are people earning 200k and more. People that didn't have 2:1 and who don't have connections. But they are determined to be part of that 8.35%.

This point is not to cause anyone to go into sad thoughts or depression but just to know that it is possible. It is not an impossible venture only reserved for some certain kind of people.

Turnover of 21million doing what exactly??

we have ears opened. go ahead tell us

While in the banking industry, I incorporated my business name as a limited liability company in 2014, provided only screen printing services in a room out of my three bedroom apartment( rent in kano is relatively cheap, depending on your location, I was paying 100k annually).

I resigned in August 30th of 2015 with just 5k and a debt burden of up to 200k.
I spent 24hrs praying and listening to powerful gospel messages ( still do it till today).

My first job came two days after i resigned, AKTH (Physiotherapy day, 65 T-shirt) made a profit of 30k.

I started going in and out of schools, churches and organizations in kano trying to get them to do some printing jobs with me.

One month later in September pricelessly, I got a job with a highly recognized and respectable school in kano(Y......college),
they asked me to bring samples, that was how I met the owners(Nigerian man and German wife)
Oh boy! I talk tire... added with lies..
Thank God the Admin was a correct gee( told him i will settle him if i get d job).
They called me after 3days, gave me a cheque of my annual salary (nearly run mad when I got outside d gates), my annual as a contract staff was 1.1million.

The story too long. Maybe for another day.

Summary now be say...

I have 7 NGOs( well recognized ones) both in kano and Maiduguri that gives me jobs regularly.

In 2019 we got a contract from a Microfinance bank, we supplied from the wall signage, pedestrian signage, deposit slip, account opening packages, Id cards to branded gift items etc.
We signed an MOU with one of the NGOs last year for partnership( no go tell u how much).

We have moved from Printing to branding to fabrication to construction to trainings and to logistics.
Thinking of creating a thread to share my stories.
Bottom line is... U must read books and understand Nigerian business terrain, add em with spiritual powers( no joke with prayers, leave women alone, sex na distraction and demo notion).
Thank you.

The last time I posted a thread was in 2016. Check my moniker, u will see my only video in 2016.
That thread u must create abeg. Cant wait to learn.
