What’s the different between this Textron A-6 and Tucano-A29

Some USAF assessors rated the AT-6 higher and more sturdy, and it fell behind the A29 because it lacked an injection seat.

I don't know if that handicap has been overcome.

But both of them being American are over priced.

Don't know when this happened, but that footage just hit the site i got it from, and if they've had it before, they wouldn't re-upload it, so personally i don't know when it happened, just downloaded it and put it on Youtube

komekn:

This is from operation Serval that was over 5 years ago. I remember it because a number of VBCI were damaged but troops survived.

It's bewildering to me that only 41 French combatants have been lost since Operation Serval and now operation Barkhan. That's in 7 + years of deadly engagement in this region.

from the interview Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar , the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF). the cooperation between nigerian AF with morocco and egypt

INTERVIEW I’ll Leave The Air Force Smiling And Thanking God – CAS

Sorry sir, I interrupted you earlier when you were mentioning your relationship with Egypt and Morocco and we are going to ask about your bilateral relationship between your service and your foreign counterparts?

We have had quite a number of agreements with the Egyptian Air Force. For instance, in the past, before the emergence of the current security challenges, our Air Force was basically, let me put this way, was not really involved in bombings and going into war apart from during ECOMOG operations in Liberia and Sierra Leone. That was the last time our forces went out for such major prolonged campaigns. We were just flying and all that but when the situation in the Northeast developed, we began to realize that look, we really need to give our pilots the skills required. You cannot be effective when you do not have the required training; having seen that there were a few gaps in the training capacity of our own schools. We went into bilateral relationship with Egypt.

Egyptians were here during the civil war and after the civil war. They were here in the 70s and 80s before they left. So, we keyed into that relationship. I met with the Egyptian Chief of Air Staff and solicited his support in terms of training of our pilots so that they can be more effective in what they are doing and he agreed and I think we have trained close to about 12 or 16 pilots there in Egypt. It was on tactical and combat training and they are back. The Egyptians use the same aircraft that we are using – the Alpha Jet.

I also visited Morocco earlier and they are also flying the same Alpha Jet just like us but they are well ahead in terms of the training facilities they have. I was there to solicit support and the Moroccan Air Chief promised to cooperate with me.

Shortly after I came back, he gave us a number of slots for training. More than 20 of our officers have been to Morocco for training and similarly, their own people have also come to Nigeria to support us in Kainji when we had problem with our fighter aircraft that we could not resolve. They came here for some weeks and they helped to resolve all the problems. There was leakage of aviation fuel at that time and they came and worked with us and we fixed it. They also trained with some of our people in Morrocco on logistics and data management for the C-130 aircraft. In Azerbaijan, also I met with the Air Chief and solicited his support and he said ‘come over’’ and I went there. We looked at all the programmes and we are sending our own helicopter pilots to Azerbaijan for training too.

You're a very big fool kid. Even when you see something that isn't appropriate you're still trying to cover the shame of the system. How do you people really reason? No wonder your pastors and politicians can manipulate your thinking easily like zombies.

Most of you here are are just funny illiterates. You know the system is horrible yet you're ready and always gallant to attack anybody that dares tell you the bitter truth. You're no different from APC supporters who won't hesitate to strangle anybody that talks about the bad side of this government, neither are you different from the Christian's who will threaten you with hell, doom and misfortune if you dare say anything bad about their pastors. That video clearly shows soldiers pushing an APC and expose themselves to danger. Some of them were complaining same way they've been complaining of low ammunition and general welfare. Ask yourselves are these things supposed to be like that? Yet you'll waste no time to tackle anybody that exposes shìts like this.

The truth is that many of you on this thread happen to be kids of senior officers , na why the system dey always sweet you for belle. Your dads sit all day inside AC with his colleagues strategizing how to divert money for the latest runz to the ogas at the top so they too can have their own share while the real soldiers are cramped up in dirty barracks or sent to mount road block or sent to fight BH. bidexiii for example once told me about how his father used to take him on a drive to the defence HQ. To say cost effective then you have to have a parameter by comparison to make that conclusion. But you have none, what is your inference based on❓

The parameters are the flyaway price and flight cost per/hour of course.

Governments dont brand terror groups they can speak for themselves, bandits are terror groups of the lower Sahel, they operate under different pseudonyms definitely not Boko haram, it was rumored they have Ansaru component lately hence the confusion.

You know the top speed of the A29 and you know the noise a turboprop aircraft makes giving you much more early warning.

Do you think the Boko guys will be waving welcome flags. I don't think they have very accurate and proficient gunners but they could get lucky considering the number of gun trucks with HMG. And that will be a $38 million➕ aircraft turned to rubble.

Hopefully the pilot will not be captured and used for murderous bloody deranged PR.

They are buying A29's for the Afghan Air Force but the USAF uses F35, F16 for CAS even more than the A10.

Pray tell us how many Tucanos have been shot down in the manner you just described? You pull out a scenario from your Anus, type a million words to support the clap trap you ejaculated, over & over, then you settle for your own lies to pamper your Ego, something is definitely not right with you, I just cant place where the screw fell off from.
You were told F-35 was supposed to retire the A-10, but it didn't, F-35 program was never a CAS program, but a JSF program, you just made up the former from the darkest part of your Anus, Do you really think you sound smart when you lie without reservations.?

Lengthy they may be but far from the facts I disagree.

You have a narrative and you look for the rhetoric to support it, not a substantive deduction but an emotive one.

With regards to the A29 my view is underpinned with the question of " best value and most effective use of scarce resources." $600 million for 12 turboprop aircraft that will take 3 years for the first aircraft to be delivered and 6 years to complete the contract. When we are fighting a existential insurgency is IRRESPONSIBLE at best.

On the contrary you have made completely delusional misguided deductions. You and other claim this aircraft is the best COIN attack aircraft. But that's opinionated balderdash.

But you don't substantiate your position opinion with anything beyond very weak conjecture and assumptive emotive led opinions.

But back to you tell me one item that is UNTRUE and not Factual
.

You must appreciate that opinions are not facts but they should be underpinned with some knowledge and or substantive rational.

You haven't spoken truth in months so if you wanna see your lies? read your penultimate post, again I have noticed you dont capitulate to superior arguments, it means you are impervious to new learning, when you cant learn, who are you typing a thousand words for?

We are not fully there yet. We still have the need for an Air Defence Command. We are working on that at the moment but the finances required and other issues are such that we cannot have everything at the same time.

you do not know what Hate is Mr Man.

Please I'm Grieving . I lost a lieutenant friend yesterday. On Friday he was in a Party with my friends at Command Guest house at Baga Road in Maiduguri. I was called to join them , but i told them I couldn't as I needed rest traveling from my field location to Maiduguri.

On his way to Damboa yesterday with some of his colleagues they were ambushed yesterday (Saturday). The same area last week that BH killed some Soldiers in an ambush that weapons recovered were posted here by bidexxi.

Maiduguri mourns because he was such a lovely and Jovial guy

Like I said my friend you do not know what Hate is.

Those who HATE this country are the guys at the top benefiting financially from this War and those who are here on this thread trying to defend the guys at the top benefiting financially from this war. They all wanna ensure the status quo remains.

Some of these ambushes troops encounter can be easily avoided or neutralised when their is a deliberate attempt to get Intel's either on a 24/7 basis or atleast before any form advance is made and this is why I stubbornly canvass for a form of aerial surveillance one can't over flog this issue. For now, the cheapest option for the army will be to go for light drones even if they ain't armed the aerial surveillance will be too useful to neglect. eg Let's say before a unit travels to another location surveillance ought to be carried on that route before they embark on such journey. The US border patrols use hand held drones to properly track movement within the borders why can't we try it. Every unit ought to have one with them when going on patrol to enable them have better understanding of their path/environs.
There is a guy in Abuja that makes light drones had the capability of being airborne for 4hrs and it radio Comms have a range of 100km, his drone can take very clear pictures from 3000ft. He was interviewed one time on nta, where he took the reporter round his workshop the guy was once a Maths Olympiad he studied in the UK and worked for sometime at Google. I feel his drones can be of great use in the interim pending when we get better. I don't think it will cost more than N500k to get one.

Why is no one giving such ideas a chance atleast let us try it and fail so that we know we atleast gave it a chance.. Desperate times requires desperate measures.
