We don't exist for today alone but for posterity.

The fear of POSSIBLE failures should not be a deterant of taking a decisive action.

The determination of the Late MKO Abiola to run to the Presidency and stood his ground till the very end changed the polical course of Nigeria.

The decision of Tinubu to contest for the presidential election regardless of the outcome will inspire future generations that they too can aspire for the highest office in the land irrespective of what any cabal wish or think and they will eventually succeed.

By the way, why are you not advicing Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the race, clamour for a SE candidate and support restructuring or all these noble advices are only good for Tinubu?

You well know a SE president will pursue restructuring more aggressively than GEJ and OBJ put together.

Anyway, Tinubu can go seek partnership with the north to help him realize his presidential ambitions. I do know the SE/SS alliance will never partner with him for that.

If Tinubu emerges as the presidential candidate of APC, Igbos will support a northerner in PDP.
If Tinubu emerges as the presidential candidate of another party, other than the APC, Igbos will present their own candidate in PDP.

Why are you fixed on Tinubu and Igbos sir?

Tinubu running for an election is NOT mutually exclusive to whatever political agenda Igbos want to pursue.

We need to try some many things in this country. These will define our democratic culture.

In a democray, it's not compulsory or even feasible that everybody support a candidate.

Trying to frustrate a private citizen from running for the Presidency of his country have grave consequences.

Again, I ask you this question:
Why are you not advising Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the presidential race, campaign for a SE candidate and restructuring or these noble advices are only good for Tinubu?

Tinubu can't get it alone also. And unlike in 1999, no other power bloc is willing to partner with the SW to install Tinubu as the president. Not especially when the SE has not filed Nigeria in more than 50 years.

Tinubu's power ends in the sw
You guys are simply jumping the gun. Buhari reset everybody not just Tinubu. Nothing is written in gold. Besides, let's assume you're right nobody wants Tinubu as president, what exactly is SE bringing to the table or you just expect Tinubu to open the doors and hold it for your kinsmen to stroll into the presidency because he's responsible for their parents' deaths?
Buhari had an army of votes to contribute in 2015/2019, which he is expected to deploy to Tinubu's advantage in 2023. What exactly will an Igbo politician be bringing to the table?

You can dream on, with the bolded.

The SE/SS alliance practically won the last presidential election for Atiku. Don't mind the wuruwuru decision of Tanko's supreme court.

The SE/SS alliance votes are well spread out also, which is why Abuja always puts up a great PDP showing, and Lagos, in spite of the Tinubu effect, always resorts to disenfranchising Igbos, and yet PDP still gets 40+% of the Lagos votes.

The SE/SS alliance votes is about 2 to 3 times, the votes by Tinubu's people. So basically the alliance very possibly has more votes than the Buhari army of northern votes you wrote about. Otherwise he wouldn't have resorted to rigging and supreme court wuruwuru decisions to win the last election.

The alliance is bringing a massive diick to any party grin. Buhari's people know this fact

APC just frustrated Tinubu, and he and his minions are saying THANK SIR to Buhari, Amaechi et al.

Anyway, as I wrote previously, Tinubu can go and hustle for the presidency in 2023, let's see how far he goes
Re: How 2023 Presidency, bad temper ruined Oshiomhole –Oyegun by oyatz(m): 8:20am On Jun 28, 2020
Isn't that what I have been saying? Tinubu should rather intensify his aspirations.
Certain events need to happen to shape and reshape our understanding of how democracy should work in Nigeria.

As many heavy duty politicians as possible need to join the presidential race (including yours sincerely in no distant future). This is how the influence of the any cabals can be reduced.

In advanced democracies, any citizen can go to a political party and pick form to run for office.

By the way, you haven't answered my question on Atiku. Why are you not advising him to drop the presidential ambition , support a SE candidate and campaign for restructuring or you think these noble advices are only applicable to Tinubu?

Atiku is not even an issue in this discussion. Atiku needs the SE/SS alliance more than the alliance needs him.

It has always been said that if APC chooses an SE man as it's presidential candidate, that automatically, the PDP candidate will be Igbo. The implication is that the alliance will ensure an Igbo man becomes the PDP candidate.

Atiku only comes into play if a SWner is the APC candidate, which in effect means zoning is suspended, thus opening the door for Atiku and others

For as long as Tinubu is still in play, Atiku can be in play
Re: How 2023 Presidency, bad temper ruined Oshiomhole –Oyegun by oyatz(m): 9:07am On Jun 28, 2020
You obviously aren't a politician.
So you think after spending a lot of money, energy and time running for president, you will tell Atiku to step down in Feb,2023 for a SE candidate because a SW politician has won the APC ticket and he will gladly comply to your order?

This is part of what I am saying. Certain things need to happen to define and refine our perceptions of how we think our democracy should be.

If we have been practicing democracy since 1960 without the Military interregnum, most of the issues we are debating wouldn't have risen.

Tinubu that is a politician, ain't doing really well at the moment..

You don't necessarily have to ask him to step down, but if PDP zones it's ticket to the SE, he will have no choice but to step down.
In 2019, southerners stepped down for northerners. Igbos have made enough sacrifices for other regions.
If the other regions refuse to reciprocate, then we will not play ball which such regions in the future.

At the moment, only the SS seems to be playing ball with us. All it means is that we will reciprocate accordingly when it is their turn.

As I wrote earlier on, Tinubu will never get any alliance from the SE/SS alliance if his aim is to be the president come 2023. The SW has had more than its fair share

If the alliance is that strong then why do you need a Tinubu to push your SE presidency dream. Why not just push for electoral reforms and take the cake away. Buhari will be more amenable to sweeping reforms now since he has nothing at stake. Seems like you're barking up the wrong tree then.

There is no big political party that doesn't experience a phase of crisis.

Your assertion that the PDP will delare that they have zoned their ticket to the S/East Geo-Political zone after the APC primaries shows you don't fully understand the issues at stake.

Such delaration will lead to crisis that can tear the party apart because those who have been investing in the party with an eye for the ticket will become disgruntled which will undermine the party. Elections in Nigeria often bring rancour and divisions.

Tinubu should decide for himself whether he is doing well or not based on how well he is able to achieve his set out goals.

However, Tinubu running for the Presidency doesn't mean El-Rufai, Peter Obi, Ngige, Kwankwanso or Dave Umahi shouldn't run for the same office. It's a contest not a coronation.

Tinubu or any candidate doesn't need to win in ALL the States or Geopolitical zones or even win at all but the right of a candidate to aspire for the highest office in the land should not be overtly or covertly abrogated.

If there's a cabal that must determine who must aspire or who shouldn't aspire for the Presidency, it portray grave dangers for the country. If they can do it to Tinubu ,then they can do it or worse things to any body in the future.
It will enbolden future cabals

The loss of Tinubu's ambition is nothing but the loss of an opportunity to ethrone and deepen democracy is everything

I don't think you fully grasp how these things work.

FIrstly, Atiku only rejoined the party a few years ago. When he was out of PDP, PDP was still an attractive party, which was why he rejoined, when APC started to piss him off. Truth be told, there are now greater interests within PDP, who remained in PDP when the going wasn't very rosy. One of such interest groups was the SE/SS alliance.
In 2019, this alliance that has a huge moral authority within PDP still stood down for northern candidates. Atiku benefited from this.

If PDP were to dish out its presidential slot to the SE, Atiku will have no option but to stand down, afterall the SE/SS alliance did the same for him in 2019, and also the SE/SS alliance are probably the greatest shareholders in the PDP enterprise currently.

The alliance will not need to beg anybody, after all they have made their sacrifices, ranging from giving northerners the slot last time, to remaining in the party and nurturing it, when every other person left for perceived greener political pastures in other parties, principally APC.

We knew a day like this was gonna come, which was why we were all surprised that Tinubu pushed his people into an alliance with people generally known to want to dominate everything, without paying attention to the letters of an alliance agreement

Okay, good luck.

I wish Atiku well in the pursuit of his presidential ambition. He is a dogged fighter and appears to have been preparing to be president for some time.

Above all, we Humanbeings are just trying, God has the final say.

Don't get me wrong. Atiku still has a chance. I suppose it depends on what APC does, PDP will be forced to checkmate APC moves, so if APC chooses someone that will require PDP's Atiku (or any northern candidate) to beat, I am sure PDP will act accordingly.
