The car starts fine. Maybe i should lock the steering first b4 starting it to observe the second question.
Ok. That shows too that your steering lock is released. Even though your brake lights come on normally suggesting connection with the relevant power source, the integrity of the switch could nonetheless be impaired. So I'd advise you look into that first. Beyond that is the shift lock solenoid which is part of the control device assembly under the shift lever. If that's bad the entire unit will have to be replaced.

I've experienced something like this once and it turned out to be a blown fuse by the driver side. I'm sorry I can't help you on the actual fuse to look out for but you can replace any blown fuse you find.
I guess the reference here is to your erstwhile 6th Gen Maxima. The system is a bit different. The Maxima has an independent shift lock control module controlled by a 10A fuse (#12) in the junction block. The fuse controls also the PNP switch. So you can see why your shift lever got stuck.

You're right. In my own case, the release lock was able to release the gear shift without any issues.

Good Day, I own a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder V8, see the pictures below. I travelled with it from Abuja on Saturday, 20th June 2020 to Benin enroute Auchi. When I got to Auchi, I bought fuel at the NNPC Mega Station, I must admit that after buying fuel, I wanted to start the car when I noticed the gear lever was on drive position. I moved it to park but when I turned the ignition, it refused to start. From that Saturday to Tuesday, 23rd June 2020 several mechanics from Benin came to check the car and their conclusion was for me to replace camshaft sensors and ECU. Scan results showed the following codes: P0447, P1564, P1615, P0340 and P0345. I have bought over 10 camshaft sensors and three ECUs(brain boxes) but the vehicle cranks but has still refused to start.
Please what do I do. Thanks.

I have had similar experience on my fx35. Its simple to fix. Invite a good electrician and tell him to chance the car relay and rewire it. Relay is about 1,000 to 1,500(one thousand naira to one thousand five hundred naira)

You need to change the 2 camshaft sensors. If you're trying to replace the sensors with used ones, it's going to be a whole lot of trials and errors. Did the technician check out the starter motor? Keep your old ECU well.

Hopefully, no serious damage has occurred from trial and error approaches by mechanics.
Ignore all other codes asides from the P1615.
Your key needs to be reprogrammed with the ECU (Brainbox)
Get a key programmer and put the original ECU back.

please return your crank shaft sensor and ECU. Nothing wrong with them. You have an immobilizer code. Your immobilizer may be toast. Located inside your steering necks, very close to the key hole. It costs about 7k to 10k. Once replaced, program the key with it. Dazzol. Car will start. When you are back to Abuja, try and sort out other codes. Really don't know why peeps like driving around with check light. Observe the behaviour of the security light in the car when the key is inserted into the steering key hole. Steady, blinking or disappears?
Nb. If you have another key for this car, try it before changing any item.

What is the meaning if the security light is steady, blinking or disappears when the key is inserted.

Electronics have 3 mortal enemies:

1. Water

2. Dust

3. Heat

You are in the market for a new ECU and very sadly so.

if steady when cranking, means immobilizer is bad. Should be blinking when activated. That's when you are out of the car and door closed and locked. Should disappear when cranking and when the car is on or when not activated.

How could you watch someone washing your car ECU with detergent and water. Well if no other dodgy work wasn't done on it, let ecu dry up properly using drier then install back to that car. That needs to be programmed due to transponder communication gap. That's totally absurd.
