Anybody aiming to watch any of the big shows should already know what they're getting into and where they, at least, aspire to reach. My target with Naruto was Pein arc. My target with Bleach was Yoruichi Vs Soi Fon.
Needless to say, before I even got to those places, I was already hooked.
All I'm saying is, if someone wants to watch One Piece, the last thing that should deter them is the number of episodes.

True. My own sef was not even chronological. I tried starting One piece from the first episode. I couldn't make it past the 10th. What got me hooked 3 years later was that Impel Down arc. I just watched one of the episodes with a friend (plus small explanations) omo I no know when I complete War of the Best. The earlier episodes became palatable from there.

I can totally relate, my G. I don't know if I wouldn't have gotten into anime when I did if not for Pein arc. My guy had been trying to get me into Naruto for a while. I had tried to watch it before unsuccessfully, cos I couldn't find the first season back then.
But after watching Pein Vs Naruto, I went and scoured all the markets in Enugu till I found S1 - S13.
