So today I reminisced a particular day I won't forget so soon.
It happened that dad travelled to east , we were in primary school then. Mother's job made her to be unpredictable in returning home. On this fateful day with no one but my siblings and I at home after school, I left the house with one of my friends then to another friends house. We played and watched movies and stuffs. Mind you I left by 4pm or thereabouts. I lost track of time and when I realized was when NEPA took light and I realized outside of their house was dark . oboy I ran home. But she was already home I greeted and she answered with little query of where I went to after using my amateurish brain to escape further inquiries, I smiled and left, eat dinner and slept. Then it happened.
I don't know what time it was but she woke me and my dear I saw a brand new cane in our house, Jesus I recalled breaking the last one. Where did this one come from but no time for that now.
I was flogged that night so bad that I feigned death.lol
I acted as if I had fainted ohh but she didn't yield. She resurrected me to life with the cane .I didn't know why she stopped later but she did.
And that was it ohhh.
Till date I still can't forget that possum I played.

This ur story got me reminiscing the good old days... my parents never beat me at night tho. Dad never hit me while growing up but my mum was sometimes there with the spanks , the "àbádàs" and occasional "meals" from her limber switch ...

That was one beating I can't forget if the free beating I had growing up. It was 4 strokes but they were one of eternal reset.

I was that kid that was almost a loner and so I'm excited when my mum have her occasional visitors as she rarely had friends visit. She had always warned me not to intrude when older people are discussing but for me, it was always fun. One day, I choose to intrude and she said nothing. She came into our room in the middle of the night, woke me up and asked me to follow her to the sitting room. She reminded me of my actions and told me she was going to give me 4 strokes to always help me remember. I still remember till date.

Interestingly, I have a nephew and niece that needs similar reminder but my mom feels it isn't too appropriate.

Mehn mine was when I newly entered secondary school. That particular day, I went to register in a new secondary school, when we were done she asked to go home with some books she bought. I went home quite alright but I stopped by a field (games ground) and was watching how a tractor or something like that was clearing the field for more than 1 hour, mind you that we lived in a secondary school for girls where she was a house mistress, so she was giving an apartment and that was where we lived.


A friend of mine told me "see ya mama dey come" o boy I ran thinking she did not see me.

Reached home and called me, the funny thing was that she bought new canes.

Oya lie down on this chair and this woman flogged me like a thief. The pain was so much I started shouting "I will confess" as if to say I be witch and then she stopped and asked me to confess, only then did I realised what I had said.

Was the only son then but she no care but now I have a brother and suddenly she has gone soft and this boy keeps misbehaving overtime may be it is old age or lastborn syndrome or because of the partial stroke she suffered.


But then she will say it is left for me to correct him in brotherly love but this is a woman that would tell me that the Bible says "spare not the ROD and spoil the child" that she is not actually obeying the Bible fully, she is supposed to use rod used for building houses.....


But mama tried no be small



But why do parents go soft on last borne especially menopausal birth?

When I was in secondary school ,jss1 precisely , My Mum saw a love letter in my elder sister's school bag.... instead wey she go beat my sister jejely leave me out of the matter nah so she come meet me after dealing with my sister ,land me better cane for head when I dey sleep....eh be like say Dem use Coke bottle bust my head for dream ..... The anger I use wake up ehnnn, I wan brush her sef because I no even know where I dey again... .... I felt Mad for few minutes, nah my Papa and elder ones come shout oooh ....come join hand finish my life that night..... I kept malice with them for over a month!!!
