Rubbish! Simple question, what is the value of the Cedi against the dollar? And what is the value of the naira against the dollar? Isn’t that supposed to be a straight, simple question? But your olodo head will not allow you to reason like a normal human being.

So,instead, you have to write a thesis about the Cedis. I pity you mudder fuggerz. If say na exam, you will score zero for stvpidly going completely off the mark. If you want to talk about the Ghanaian currency and how it has fared over the years, then open a different discussion.
lol...you need to bring your cedis to Nigeria first before you understand fully what I'm saying...hell you could be another ignorant Ghanaian (you'll be joining the long line of them though...nothing surprising) who hasn't left Kumasi in his life.

nigga I'm talking based on first hand information and experience.
the naira has more value than the cedi so whether a cedi to naira is .0005 to 8000 the Naira is still valuable! grin
why do you think Nigerians are plenty in Ghana?
you think Ghana is the land of 'flowing milk and honey' ??
No bro!...far from it!
Nigerian business men have just seen a place to get hard currency with some form of semblance to the dollar to remit back home...simple!

the money they make in Ghana does A LOT IN NIGERIA but can barely afford anything in Ghana!

your currency is playing you people HARRRRD!

OPEN YOUR EYES FAM! grin
and also I'm not trolling you, I'm just telling you to always resist that urge to latch on the naira vs cedi exchange rate pov.

it always ends in tears. wink

Torture2020:

If I were you, huh? I will be worried about your own country’s generator-powered economy. Currently in recession. According to your Vice President, more than 30 million jobs will be lost in your country due to covid 19. In fact, by the time covid 19 finishes with your country, nobody will recognize that zoo again grin poverty capital
Do you even know the future of your country

wow....very Rich analysis from our ghanaian Moody's representative!

boy when you troll Nigeria with your 'generator powered economy' tag please highlight how big that economy is. wink

and lastly, there is no country that wouldn't feel the covid-19 crunch...the US lost over 20million jobs in 3 months nigga!!!

or is Ghana immune to the global economic slowdown?

And do you know the future of your country's currency?
Have you also thought of the depreciation rate of your country's currency?
How is a Dollar / Cedi to your currency?
Our currency doesn't have a very bright future on the short term but what I can tell you for free is that we weren't re-denominated in 2007. wink
Also what I can tell you for free is that our currency isn't just strong on paper like the cedi.
I can also tell you that the naira brings a lot more value to the table than the Ghanaian cedi. wink
We could also talk about how the cedi makes basic stuff in Ghana expensive. wink

You satisfied?

Ask your fellow nigerian's in Ghana and they will confirm to you the living standards in Ghana..very very high
The Ordinary Ghanaian is used to it but nigerian's here always complain about how expensive Ghana is..
And for value of money, you need to ask your fellow nigerian in Ghana the value of Cedis when converted into naira..

Its just like you asking the value of Dollar in USA, it doesn't do much there, but change it into your country's currency and you will know the value,.

As far as Currencies are concerned, Cedis is still higher than naira..
If re-denominating a Currency can change the fortunes of ''your country's currency'' then what are you waiting for? Are you waiting for Donald Trump to ask your Government to do a re-denomination of your currency?

Listen you have to understand my Nigerian people most of them are illiterate to the core. Once a Nigerian see in other African country is better than them they believe it is the white people which build that country. Without using their brain that majority of the workforce and Blacks also most of the laborers are also black. Without the black population South Africa and Kenya including other African countries will be nowhere. Why do you think developed countries import a lot of cheap labour from third world countries. Kenya was built by black people South Africa was built by black people. But my Nigerian people cannot understand this because they are illiterate and lazy they cannot work only thing they know how to do vote for a criminal all over the world

The present day currencies are paper money. It's fiat money. It's no longer backed by gold reserves. It has no intrinsic value.
So a country can wake up and decide to print the "strongest" currency in the world - say 1000 dollar to 1cedis.
You give them like a few years - and that currency will be 1 dollar to 1000 cedis - if they allow it to operate in free exchange.
They can even go ahead - and forever peg it to a dollar - but that would require defending the currency against inflationary forces using forex reserves.

The cedis outside Ghana is useless. Worthless. What works outside our borders are global currencies - USD (the king), Euro, British Pound, Swiss Franc, maybe Japanese Yens and now the Yuan.

So for you to import anything - you'll need to buy dollars or any other global currency accepted. For you to fly abroad for education or medical need - you'll need to convert to dollars. For you (gov, individuals, companies) to repay international loans - you buy dollars.

So naturally the cedis will weaken - unless you're China or Saudi or Japans - with trillion dollars of forex reserve - and you can make your currency strong internally by keeping it weak internationally. This makes their stuff very cheap to import - leading to more forex - feeding the loop.

For the rest of us - if you try to defend your currency with your little forex reserves - you won't last long.

Maybe you can survive with your own rules if you live in Central Africa - with very little in international trade and business.

Therefore what is important for economy is A STABLE CURRENCY - this is part of the predictable environment that foster economic growth and sustainable development.

A stable currency is a currency that doesn't swing so much. A currency that stores values. Nobody want to wake up tomorrow like a zimbwean to find they now need 10 times the currency to buy a loaf of bread.

So you need a stable currency that doesn't depreciate or appreciate so fast against global currencies. Otherwise it will lead to inflation - price increases - will drive away investors - will generally lead to poverty.

The weakest africa currencies the last 60-70yrs without doubt is anything named Zimbwabwe, anything named KWACHA and anything named CEDIS.

This kind of negative feedback loop that plagues the CEDIS is hard to get out of - because many Ghanians and foreigners don't trust the cedis - so the economy become dollarized - people prefer to open dollar accounts - or to convert their cedis as quickly as possible to dollars - and try to store value. This leads to dollar strengthening...more dollar demands...more forex reserves are depleted. This weaken the cedis more.

Getting out of that rat hole is very very difficult. You should see Zimbwabweans now. It about getting people to trust PAPER MONEY.

You only need to see their interaction with everyone over the last century: see what Brits, Italians even Amharas say about them. You'll always hear the same ishyt-savagery, dishonesty and self SABOTAGE.
The fact that they're the only heterogeneous society to suffer self destruction says more than enough. It doesn't matter to Stoffie, though; he's deflecting from the inescapable Cacanderthal tendencies of violence, paranoia, faggotry, inbreeding and racism seen in all their descendants as far as SA.

Most of Johannesburg’s wealth is concentrated in Sandton – home of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and of head offices of most of Africa’s largest banks and corporates.

“Total wealth” for the purposes of the report, refers to the total private wealth held by individuals living in each city.

It includes all their assets – property, cash, equities and business interests – less any liabilities. Government funds are not included in the mix.

Cape Town was ranked second on the survey. It is also popular among wealthy second homeowners from around the world.

Cairo in Egypt was placed 3rd. It is home to more billionaires than any other African city. For the purposes of the report, billionaires are defined as individuals with net assets of $1 billion or more.

Lagos in Nigeria is in 4th position. It is also the largest city in Africa in terms of population and gross domestic product – but not in terms of wealth.

In 5th place is Durban (including Umhlanga). It is one of the fastest-growing areas in South Africa in terms of wealth growth over the past 10 years, according to the report.
