do everything to make sure the babe returns the money (even pretend you will marry again, if she does).... then when she returns the money, get rid of this low life thieving woman from your life.

you can already see the type of deceitful demon she will turn into...

the money is not hers, and was mistakenly deposited in her account... why should she remotely think of keeping it? why did she move it to another bank if nothing is wrong? its called THEFT. who would trust (or even want to marry) such deceitful women?

until its "your" money that is sent by mistakes to a stranger's account, and then you will be singing a different tune and crying like a lil girl to get your hard earned money back. wrong is wrong however desperate and hungry a person may be!
still not a near enough reason to cancel a wedding... If your wife or husband cannot partner you in crime who else will...let the teller pay for the mistake and learn a lesson

the above in bold is the main issue in this discussion, as we can clearly understand that the OP is a honest person (who doesnt believe in taking what is not yours). everyone can make a mistake (so can you), therefore, possibly losing your job and/or possibly being jobless for a while because of dishonest people, aint right.

i could never date (let alone marry) a dishonest/deceitful/untrustworthy woman.

To err is Human to forgive is........

Meanwhile, it's also rare to see a lady who isn't married use her boyfriend or fiance as her next of kin

Even most married ladies don't do that...

Indeed it's rare..

We are humans by nature and can make mistake, as such ones mistake shouldn't be used as a yardstick to condemnation

To me I would concern myself with her actions and behavior after acknowledging the situation..

I think that should give you a hint on what to do next.

Good luck

The story is false.

Questions: which Nigerian bank will plead with a third party to convince a fraudulent person to return excess cash? You mean a Nigerian bank cannot freeze withdrawals from her account? Use BVN to trace accounts she might have in other banks and tell them to do same? Use police through court order to arrest her? They went through a third party pleading? Nigerian bank, plead? How come a Nigerian spinster will use the name of the man she is yet to marry as NoK rather than her mother, father or siblings?

Fake news!

thats a complete different matter because A) you dont know who the money belongs to and B) you dont try to conceal it for your own selfish agenda. if i saw whose pocket the money fell from then i will run to give it back to them... and if i dont see anyone, then i would probably hand it to some needy beggar.

cheesy cheesy ..don't know why i find this your response amusing...the point here is that you don't take what does not belong to you right? I'll give you another scenario this one actually happened for real... Some time ago i used to wash cars for a living so on this particular day this bus (big ones) just came back from work and then straight to car wash...i was supposed to sweep the floor before using water in the course of that i discovered something on the floor wrapped in a black nylon..behold it was currency... I counted.. it was 12K... Obviously it doesn't belong to the driver... My question now is what will mrBrownjay do?

A friend is calling off his wedding plans because he thinks his girlfriend lacks integrity. They have known for about 3years and he has not complained about her to me or any one.

Problem started when he got a call from the bank pleading with him to tell his girlfriend to reverse/return the excess amount credited to her account when she visited the bank to make a deposit into her account. He called his account officer to investigate the issue. The account officer confirmed that she got excess of what she wanted to deposit and she has moved all the funds to another bank.

She used the guy as her next of kin that was how they could contact him. He called his babe who denied initially but reluctantly agreed when he divulged that the bank contacted him. Dude became angry and paused all wedding plans.

The lady s begging and has cried her eyes out...what do you think? can you compromise integrity...?

I got permission to write about this here incase you think xyz and my friend is a Nairalander!

For the fact that the mistake was done, she was notified by the bank to return it, dmshe declined despite that she moved the money to another account makes me feel she has nothing to protect not even her name

Even the guy called her she denied before accepting it

I doubt her sincerity

since the owner cannot be found, i would probably hand over 1k each to needy people in the street... now remember, you are talking to someone who is not hurting for 12k... but, if i was broke and hungry and owner of the money CANNOT be found, i would probably take this money as a blessing.... but if it was a handbag with a person's ID, address and phone number etc then i would contact the person and hand over their belongings (and hope that the person has a good heart and gives me a reward).

you are just whining 12k or 12million being hungry being broke is not the issue here ....i never talked about hand bag or ID card you just made it up...i gave you a scenario and asked you what will you do... Who's talking about hunting for 12K.. Does it seem like the lady in question is broke and hungry..."i would probably take this money as a blessing" - it could be 10k it could be 100k it could be 10million...once again.."i would probably take this money as a blessing"... In your own words...case closed!

again, since you have issues understanding what i wrote, let me be very clear:
- i find money in the bus, no way to find the owner, i hand it over to needy beggars
- if money in the bus, no way to find the owner, while i am a needy beggars myself... then i go buy food to chop
- if the name/ID/Phone of the owner is present, i contact them!

i never talked about hand bag or ID card you just made it up...

yes because there could be Id there, or owner could come back the next day and ask for lost money.

i gave you a scenario and asked you what will you do... Who's talking about hunting for 12K.. Does it seem like the lady in question is broke and hungry...

the lady is obviously broke and hungry if the owner of the money ask for their money but she wants to keep it and even transfer the fund to another account.

"i would probably take this money as a blessing" - it could be 10k it could be 100k it could be 10million...once again.."i would probably take this money as a blessing"... In your own words...case closed!

again, if i am broke and hungry, and the owner cannot be found, then why shouldnt i keep the money. NOBODY OWNS the money and the law says that after a few months, it would legally be yours. which is completely different than a "thief" refusing to give back the money to the owner. lol!

She’s a thief. I am sure she has stolen many times with no conscience. She couldn’t even own up to you her own next of kin and supposed to be partner in crime when you asked. In fact you shouldn’t have even found out that way. She should have told you and both of you can decide what to do.

The fact that you had to tell her about the call from the bank before she owned up to YOU says a lot about her! She’s a hardened thief and karma is working on her. I advise you reconsider and run for your life.

Seemingly you have not worked in a bank before and even if you had, you didn't work in banking ops. If you pay in cash into a bank and you are over credited, No Jupiter has the power to remove such amount from your account. The teller that made the mistake will either salvage the situation with his or her own money or escalate and face sanctions. In the case above, it was a cash deposit and funds were moved to another bank...how do you prove that the excess amount is not what the lady gave to the teller but filled a different thing in her deposit slip? If you write to block funds in another bank, that means you want to escalate and you will face sanctions for incompetence. Moreover you can't just get a court order for a cash transaction. What if the lady claims that that was the actually amount given to the teller. How do you prove it? This matter was obviously not escalated. It is only when you were credited twice. When I worked in banking ops, I have cases were a teller under my supervision overpaid a customer but the customer denied it. We couldn't touch customer's account cos it was cash. I just told the teller to repair. You need to understand before talking!

The story is a lie, bank won't contact next of kin. Once there is evidence of over payment, police report and court affidavit will put a lien on the account. In this era of BVN even with the movement of money,it can be traced to the other account.
Thus, this makes the op's story fake.

Why are you guys so dumb, did you work in banking ops? When you are over credited guy no body can touch your account unless you were credited twice. The issue here is obviously a teller looking for way to recoup funds probably with her supervisior. Look, even if that lady did not move funds you cannot touch her account. You can only beg her to return cos she can claim that was the amount she gave you and if you sue the Bank you are wining big time. It is a cash tranx. And if you escalate this case and the bank authorities get to know you face sanctions as a teller...

Some persons have no issue marrying one without integrity cos they probably are lacking it ( there's compatibility ) . It's obvious your intended wife lacks integrity , the question is, can u deal with such a person as a wife ? It's her person already and hoping for a change that might hardly happen is risky. You have seen the red flag , ask your self if you can manage her if it happens she doesn't change ? If you cannot tolerate dealing with sm1 that lacks integrity, then, you'll be doing yourself much good by calling off the marriage else u'll be miserable in such union. When you re married, that's when you'll see her unleash all she is and you wouldn't be spared from having a taste of her untrustworthiness in her interactions/dealings with you

For the ignorant ones, a cash transaction cannot be reported fraudulent. It was the cash given to you that you posted. And yes, people use other ppl as their next of kin. Next of kin does not mean next in line to your cash if something happens to you. If that lady didn't move funds, the teller does not have the authority to reverse the money. The customer can claim that was the exact amount she gave you. Touch her account and you get served. Trust me the teller is automatically fired.

You say she is 'hardened' because she moved the funds... I like to use the word 'smart' .... See, all these is because she is a woman... I like the last part of your comment. The money may have intimidated the husband to be and made him insecurecheesy typical of nigerian men who like to sit on top of their woman... Forgetting that the babe will support the wedding expenses directly or indirectly from those funds and even beyond...infact she should be dumping that man ASAP...he doesn't want her progress and not worth being her husband.
