This could be ASF African Swine Fever
This kinda disease has no vaccine and cure
It comes in different waves
The north experienced this last year
It started from Asia in July last year and hit the African region
Around August last year twas killing pigs in the north
The moment I can't forget
If one pig is infected
All pig the pigs will also be infected
We lost about 30pigs then
Twas the greatest lost i had experienced since I grew up
And the wave can take over a year before it goes off
The last the ASF was experienced was in 2006

This Igbos should stop decieving themselves, this Desiease did not come from Lagos via Ogun State, it was brought down by one of the Igbos who came from China recently.

IT STARTED AT OKE ARO IN OGUN STATE. AND LATER EXTEND TO OTHER STATES.

AS THE MOST PRODUCTIVE AND STRONG HEALTH PIG IS, THE OUTBREAK REALLY AFFECTED THEM.

Contact a Veterinarian for further assistance. And so sorry for your loss......that farm should be abandoned for now pls. Anthrax is not to be toiled with, NEVER TRY TO OPEN THE DEAD ANIMAL....THE VIRUS IS AIR BORNE and can infect anybody around and IT HAS NO CURE. I was almost infected during my undergrad years but only God saved all of us in my School lab that day.

It is actually the African Swine Fever and there is no record of the ASF infecting humans!

A similar outbreak is occurring in China and it can be spread to humans. Health authorities need to start killing off these pigs and burning them immediately before we have something worse than COVID-19 on our hands.

Yes, the outbreak started from China. However, the African Swine Fever does not affect humans!

This is most likely the Africa Swine Fever that came into Nigeria through Lagos and has now spread all over. It does not affect humans

No one knows the sort of symptoms this disease could manifest in humans.

Another outbreak is the last thing we need right now.

Since Monday , I only had a good night sleep yesterday all thanks to ASF. My mom and some other butchers unknowingly bought Pigs infected with the virus from ondo to Delta state on Sunday . The next day very early in the morning my mom received a call that one had died. After conducting a post mortem and analyzing the behavior of the dead animal the previous day, everything pointed at swine Fever. My heart sank. It's means the other animals were already infected because they were all crowded together for about 48hrs,there ain't no surviving that. To make matters worst, another butcher already lost 5 that morning . Give and take, we had max of 7days to sell all before the virus overwhelms them, but that ain't possible seeing as they were much. I had sleepless nights because of that, the thought of being woken up by a call that they all had. My mom losing all her capital.
Miraculously, we've only had that one death since, first selling off the few that were showing signs of not making it till the next day. Only 9 left now which are healthy, for now. The other butcher has lost over 11, more than half a million naira cry

The other day I read of the farmer that died from his sleep on his birthday after losing his whole stock worth millions. It's disheartening. Over a million pig was estimated to have been lost already. China is still recovering. I don't see our affected farmers recovering anytime soon.

Truelly, livestock farming Is not for the faint hearted cry

shocked Please they should try to burn and bury those pigs well before the meat will end up in the general market. Pigs eat a lot contaminated things, might be a virus or disease from something they ate. Or could be the vet gave them wrong injection or injection they're body has side effects to. This is a pig disease called ASF (African swine fever). It occurs in most countries of the world. A viral disease that has no cure as no infected pig remains alive after 4 days. it very deadly but the good news is that it doesn't infect humans.
For your farm to be safe, prevention is better than cure. Observing appropriate biosecurity on your pig farms is the only sure way to protect your farm.
Even if it gets into your farm, early detection is important to stop the disease from spreading.
